Just be honest with your doctor. I told mine I wanted to my WLS because I was tired of being exhausted, have no energy and hurting all the time. That I want to make a lifestyle change for my health.

I have thirteen days until my surgery. Started the pre op diet yesterday. It’s going good so far but man the bathroom runs are a killer lol. Just checking to see if anyone has the same timeline as me. I’m super excited, a little nervous. I’m glad I found this community. I stayed up most of last night reading it was eye opening. I downloaded this really cool app called Baritastic. Pretty freaking awesome. Please share your pots and your peaks with me so we can make this journey more amazing.

I went from a size 20 to a 12, and probably need a ten in jeans now. My shirts were 2X's and now I wear an XL or L, my bra size used to be a 42J and now I'm a 38D.

I had my surgery 2 days ago. All went well. Dr said it was difficult due to excessive scar tissue from prior surgery, but really i am feeling great other than nausea. Getting discharged shortly. I swear my shirt is already looser on me. Nice!

Has anyone else tried these clear Protein Drinks by Premier Protein? They are so yummy! 80 calories and 20 grams of Protein. My doctors office said these can count as Fluid post surgery too, so I'm pretty excited about that. Just thought I'd share in case folks haven't heard of them.

    1) Ending my HYPERTENSION medication. (Surgeon says that's days away).
    2) Widening the gap between my lower abdomen and the steering wheel when driving. It's already shifted from 15mm-18mm in mid-October (0.6-0.75 inches) to 75mm (three inches). Pleasing.
    3) Steering clear of Mr Big in Target and the local "Big & Tall" shop. Aiming for regular clothes shopping. Already down from 7XL/6XL to 4XL in shirts. Have already dropped 120mm-130mm from my waist (4" to 5")
    4) Not having to leave EXTRA space to open my car door.
    5) Gaining the stamina to keep up with my seven grandkids.

I can't believe it, almost a year ago I was 316 pounds. I was nervous, and eating every horrible and unhealthy meal I thought I would never be able to eat again because I knew I was about to change my life on December 14, 2016.
I was sleeved on 12/14/16 and it was truly one of the best life decisions I ever made. It was not easy, from being in and out of the ER due to dehydration in my early stage.. barely being able to eat anything besides liquids/apple sauce for 2 months.. to now being able to eat honestly anything, just with Portion Control. I'm well known on social media, and people always ask me what do I eat, what should they eat, did I get additional surgery etc.. even on here as I try to respond to all messages I tell everyone the same thing: My journey will NOT be yours. We are all different, we are individuals and our bodies are all different. My experience was deff not easy but yes I love my results. If you are questioning getting sleeved, do your research and then say YES. I was so nervous about getting sleeved, I researched for months before I started the process. I'm so glad I turned my life around. I am literally crying as I type this because I am so happy. food no longer controls my life, I do. The best feeling is self love and happiness... I was always confident but now I truly feel happy. 100%. And my journey is not even over yet, it just began.
I will post pics because the few friends I have on here always ask lol! Love you guys. And I love all my sleevers. ️

I am still pre surg but let me share mine.
1 God would-be,mad with me since I was asking to have,my intestines rerouted.
    2. I'm too old for surgery; people will think I'm silly or vain for asking.
Strangely I'm not worried of the surgery , more scared the surgeon will back out instead of me.
    4. Running away from the surgical team-nope with 2 artificial knees I couldn't outrun them.
    5. I'm a bad girl, I don't deserve surgery, well why don't I? I have fought the different diet wars and my fat cells always won.
You want a different excuse? I was normal sized at,birth 7lb12oz but, my mother's,doctor ordered her to feed,me an 8oz bottle of Carnation milk after each, nursing. At 1 year I was 35 inches tall and weighed 36 pounds. Even when I was normal sized I felt fluffy not firmed, fleshed. I was a non winner in the weight wars but now I will, have,a tool,to,helpwith the healthy commitment and changes. I plan to live out my 70s and, onward. Like Reba McEntire's song. I'm a Survivor. I look forward to surgery , I trust my future surgery team to put me asleep smoothly and wake,me up gently to start my new better life. Join me on this journey, please?

At 3 months out, I just had blood work. All 17 required bariatric tests were normal (a word not used for me in any context); my cholesterol total was 99 (total) with good going up, bad going down. Triglycerides went from 295 to 93! So WOW! Not any angina since surgery date, and it was 24/7 with two meds.
Down from 17 meds daily to 4, plus Vitamin. Again, WOW, just WOW!
Weight from 198.7 to 148.4 this morning.
Best decision we've made about my health in a very long time.

I felt the same way. If I'd have known just losing weight would fix 90% of my health problems I would have done it years ago. No more meds, my anxiety and depression are better, no more blood pressure or cholesterol meds, I'm off everything. I wasted a lot of years I wish I could get back with my kids. But my future grandkids are gonna have an active, fit, granny.

Great work. I'm down 105 and was at a party recently where I ran into someone I have known for 20 years but hadn't seen in a year. She introduced herself to me - I reminded her of who I was. She was so embarrassed, she excused herself to get another drink.

I think I've said the same thing to about 50 other people with impending surgery.
Don't pull out, I tell them all, as I had a few moments of doubt and negative reflection too ... but the assistance with getting past the years of problems I have had with motivation has been well worth it.
I hope and pray that I will be (eventually) the successful loser!

I’m 17 days in to this new life. So take what I have to say with that knowledge ... I am new to this! This may be “honeymooning”. Or it’s just my “glass half full DNA”.
In these months leading up to surgery and these last 17 days I’ve learned a lot about me.
I’ve learned that my personality preceded my weight. When people describe me they rarely mention my extra 130 pounds. When I tell them of my surgery ... they are astonished! “Why? They ask.”
Truth is, I miss my self. I miss being active. I miss playing tennis, skiing, hiking. I miss fancy clothes and being comfortable in my own skin. I miss the ease of moving about the country! But I’m 60. I’m no spring chicken.< /p>
I did the surgery not to be thinner as much as a preemptive strike against diabetes. You see, all 4 older siblings have diabetes! Surgery was a no brainer.
10 years ago I broke my neck in yoga. 10 years ago with the installation of my metal neck my thyroid was removed. Over 10 years I’ve put on 12 pounds a year on average. No matter what diet or exercise program I tried.
This “tool” is a game changer for me. You see, I believe I’ve tasted and enjoyed everything I’ve needed to. I believe I’ve offered myself a huge gift of extra years to my life as a result of this surgery. I see the process as a huge blessing not a curse.
I spend my days protecting my inner stitches. Trying to avoid foods that may cause a “leak”. I have been out to restaurants and have wanted the big meal but have been satisfied with the Soup ...I am learning.
I’m dealing with the thinning hair, the dry skin, the constant reminder of Vitamins, the logging of food, the attention to Protein and the need to nap! I’m forcing the water...the occasional Constipation.< /p>
I have no regret ... yet! But I am older than most who go thru this process. I’ve got more time on planet...
I read some of your struggles and I say a prayer for swift relief of your challenges! I’m here for you! I’m a pretty good cheerleader! Reach out!
Thanks for all your support! This “newbie” appreciates your courage in taking this huge step toward your personal health!
You are fierce! You are mighty! You are warriors! Love every pound you release! Be blessed in 2018!
