  1. My surgeon said the average he usually does is about 1/3 or about 100cm. For me he wanted to do about 1/2 or 150cm to give my weight loss a little more momentum. He discussed this with me at my pre-op appointment and i agreed. My surgery was on the 27th of March and he ended up bypassing about 160cm!

  2. Hi y'all! Just wondering, I have some fears/nervousness about my upcoming procedure.

My first fear is that I wasn't truly approved and someone at my surgeon's office made a mistake. The only reason I feel this way is because on my silly insurance website, my procedure is still not listed under authorizations. However when the office manager for my surgeon called last Thursday she said she heard back from them and I was approved.

The other fear I am dealing with is my surgeon going in to to the procedure and for some reason will have to close me up without completing surgery and tell me there's no way I can have bariatric surgery. (I have had 3 C-sections, a hysterectomy, and my gallbladder removed so I guess my fear stems from maybe having too much scar tissue from those procedures?)

I do suffer from general anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder. I guess I just wanted and needed to get all of this off of my chest and maybe ask if any of you have any suggestions to calm my irrational fears and nervousness?

Thanks so much for listening if you made it this far. [emoji8]

  3. I totally forgot to let y'all know! I got a call from my surgeons office manager on Thursday saying my insurance had approved my procedure!!! And not only that but they had a cancellation and would I like to switch my date to an earlier one..uh yes, yes I would! So my surgery has been moved from April 24th to March 27th!! Pre-Op diet starts in 2 days on Monday!!!

  4. Are you not physically able to get Protein and Water in? I know how important that is to our success. If you're truly following the program and not eating cheater/slider foods/taking in a ridiculous amount of unhealthy food, I'd recommend doing Protein Shakes and liquids only again for a few days. If there is still no loss then call your surgeon and nutritionist as there is a marginal chance something else could be going on.

I understand it isn't the norm. But something is not right here and I don't know what. I know for a fact that I don't meet my protein and water goals or exercise. Until I can fix all that, I really cannot honestly say I've tried everything.

  5. I agree. Definitely get your Protein and Water in. It's not physically possible for you to have not lost any weight in that amount of time if you're following the plan. Is it possible you aren't being honest with yourself? Are you documenting every single thing that goes in your mouth?

I honestly just dont believe it. Something somewhere the facts have to be wrong. There is absolutely no fricken way possible that a 240 pound individual has not lost a single pound eating 500-600 calories a day in 6 weeks. Like you could have the worst hypothryoid in town and I still wouldnt believe it.
Either youre having massive inconsistencies with the way you weigh yourself, youre wildly miscalculating calories, or something else is at play. I think you need to look at everything thats happening step by step and see whats going wrong.
Are you weighing yourself at the same time under the same conditions in roughly the same clothes everyday ? Are you underestimating your calories (this is very common)? Are you severely constipated ?
Yes everybody goes through stalls, but not losing any weight for 6 weeks at 500/600 calories a day at the START of your journey isnt a stall. Its a huge red flag

  6. Hey everyone! I'm new to the site! This is my second time being in the bariatric program. I basically chickened out back in the beginning of 2016 with only one month to go.

Everything is different now and I cannot wait to make the change! I am 2 appointments down out of 6 with my surgeon. I have quit smoking (one of the main factors I didn't follow through last time), and I no longer drink any carbonated beverages. I've seen a cardiologist and gotten the all clear from the ekg, echo is scheduled for this week. I have done my psych eval (one of the things I kept blowing off last time), and am just waiting for the report to make it to my surgeon. I go and see the nutritionist on Friday so then that will be completed. I also have completed the chest x-ray and upper endoscopy. I just need to schedule with the pulmonologist I believe mainly for a sleep study but they haven't called me to set that up yet.

I'm hopeful for surgery by May 2018!
