    March-April Rny-ers

Well guys, I did it! I am officially bypassed as of March 27th! And I am so freaking excited and happy. I can already feel restriction with "eating" and I love it! I can't wait for this journey to take off!

    What length is your bypass?

My surgeon said the average he usually does is about 1/3 or about 100cm. For me he wanted to do about 1/2 or 150cm to give my weight loss a little more momentum. He discussed this with me at my pre-op appointment and i agreed. My surgery was on the 27th of March and he ended up bypassing about 160cm!

I had to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate and clear liquids only. My other option was drink a bottle of miralax and Gatorade and clear liquids only.

    Pre-Op Diet Insomnia

Yesterday (Monday) was day one of my pre-op diet. I'm allowed 2 protein shakes, a smart meal, and a smart snack per day. I had all but the snack as I didn't need it. However it's almost 5am and I still haven't been able to fall asleep. Is it normal to experience insomnia and restlessness during the pre-op diet?

    March-April Rny-ers

Hi y'all! Just wondering, I have some fears/nervousness about my upcoming procedure. My first fear is that I wasn't truly approved and someone at my surgeon's office made a mistake. The only reason I feel this way is because on my silly insurance website, my procedure is still not listed under authorizations. However when the office manager for my surgeon called last Thursday she said she heard back from them and I was approved. The other fear I am dealing with is my surgeon going in to to the procedure and for some reason will have to close me up without completing surgery and tell me there's no way I can have bariatric surgery. (I have had 3 C-sections, a hysterectomy, and my gallbladder removed so I guess my fear stems from maybe having too much scar tissue from those procedures?) I do suffer from general anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder. I guess I just wanted and needed to get all of this off of my chest and maybe ask if any of you have any suggestions to calm my irrational fears and nervousness? Thanks so much for listening if you made it this far. [emoji8]

Mine isn't too bad. I do a shake for breakfast, a shake for lunch, a smart dinner, and one smart snack a day. I pretty much do that now for the most part.

No loss since surgery 6 weeks ago!!

Are you not physically able to get protein and water in? I know how important that is to our success. If you're truly following the program and not eating cheater/slider foods/taking in a ridiculous amount of unhealthy food, I'd recommend doing protein shakes and liquids only again for a few days. If there is still no loss then call your surgeon and nutritionist as there is a marginal chance something else could be going on. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using BariatricPal mobile app

I agree. Definitely get your protein and water in. It's not physically possible for you to have not lost any weight in that amount of time if you're following the plan. Is it possible you aren't being honest with yourself? Are you documenting every single thing that goes in your mouth? Sent from my Moto Z (2) using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. Hey everyone! I'm new to the site! This is my second time being in the bariatric program. I basically chickened out back in the beginning of 2016 with only one month to go. Everything is different now and I cannot wait to make the change! I am 2 appointments down out of 6 with my surgeon. I have quit smoking (one of the main factors I didn't follow through last time), and I no longer drink any carbonated beverages. I've seen a cardiologist and gotten the all clear from the ekg, echo is scheduled for this week. I have done my psych eval (one of the things I kept blowing off last time), and am just waiting for the report to make it to my surgeon. I go and see the nutritionist on Friday so then that will be completed. I also have completed the chest x-ray and upper endoscopy. I just need to schedule with the pulmonologist I believe mainly for a sleep study but they haven't called me to set that up yet. I'm hopeful for surgery by May 2018!
