  1. hi i was also banded by Dr.Fielding on 2/28. I was told 10 days of liquid too. Tomorrow i start mushies, and i am nervous. I also want to start off slow.I am horrified about getting anything stuck,i have been even xtra carefull w/my liquids.(sip, sip, sip) I did very well on the liquids and i have good restriction. This was the first time in a long time not messing up, i didn't have anything but liquids.(Nothing w/sugar). I made up my mind before the surgery no matter what i am going to follow the directions.
  2. Hi lanna, tricare isn't that bad at all. from what i have read and experienced as long as you meet the requirements you will get approved! what is so funny is that we are more nervous and scared about the insurance approval than the surgery itself!! lol lol. (i know i was) You will be fine! Also, if this helps the approval dosen't take long some people have found out the same day,but the average wait is usually 5 buisness days i found out in 4 days. You can monitor your approval on my tricare.com, but you have to sign up. I also called to check it periodically and they were nice on the phone. They will either tell you it is still pending or you will hang the phone up with your authorization #. I hope this little bit of info will help.
  3. welcome, i have tricare too. i was just approved and i am scheduled to have my surgery on 2/28 at nyu, in ny. I am a member, but have not been active with the forum, this is my first day back. Good Luck To All Of You!!!!!!!
  4. hi everyone! I am also glad to see this forum here. I am also going to be having my surgery at NYU. I have allready went to the seminar, had my psych eval, and blood work. My next appt. is with the nutritionist and nurse. I have one big dilemma. I don't know what surgeon to choose. All 3 of them have a great reputation. I live in South Jersey, and i originally decided to go to NYU because i had chosen Dr.Feilding, then i changed my mind to Dr.Ren. I keep going back and forth. I wish i could meet all 3 of them before making a decision.I only had an opportunity to meet Dr.Feilding and that was at the seminar. I have read that some people choose who ever is first available for surgery. If anyone could please share how they decided, and give info about their experience with the surgeon they chose. Thanks a lot!
  5. Hi, everyone this is my first time posting on the Christian thread. I am blessed to have found it! I am a newbie to this whole intire forum. I am going through the process to be banded. I already had my psych eval and was cleared for surgery. My next appt. is with the nutristionist and nurse on May12th. If all goes well, God's willing,I will have my final appt.with the surgeon and get a surgery date. My health is declining and I am physically in discomfort. I have prayed and dieted, and wasnt sucessfull that didnt effect my faith in God though. (still praying) I would of probally have wanted to get the surgery sooner but i said to myself am I dishonering the Lord's power to deliver me from obesity,by getting the surgery,am I not just praying enough for his will. I finally feel in my spirit I am not. I believe He has provided this tool to help me. It is comforting to be on this forum and be surounded by other Christians who have had the surgery or are in the process . Please keep me in your prayers! God Bless you all...
  6. Hi, Im just curious are you just concerned or are you uncomfortable, and are you craving food even though fill full? Soon to be banded. Hope all goel well!!!!
  7. Thanks so much for the good news!!! Im so excited !!!!!!! Had psych eval today it went really well he cleared me for surgery.I had to pay $250,he said I could submit it to the insurance company to see if they will reimburse me. My next step is the nutristionist and nurse on the 12th of May,that will cost $325,they said the insurance dosen't cover it.Then there is one more appointment and thats with surgeon to go over things and get a surgery date!!! They don't contact the insurance company for approval until after you meet with the surgeon. I would think approval first then date, but that is the way they do it. Thanks again.
  8. hi everyone, I dicovered this forum and joined today. First time on a forum. I was very excited to see others with tricare insurance! I found a surgeon, went to the seminar, saw primary Dr. (got letter of reccomendation),got blood work done, have appt for psych eval tomorrow, then i have to make appt with the nutritionist. I am about 130 pounds over weight, with a bmi of 49,and high blood presure. The Dr's office is not familliar with the insurance and they are not sure if I am going to be required to present a 6 month supervised diet to tricare, wich most insurances require. Has tricare requested that from any of you? I've dieted but not under my doctors care the last 6 months. Atkins, weight watchers, and LA weightloss before they closed down. What exactly are their requirements?
