Luckily I had my surgery done almost 2 years ago. ...I am very fortunate ...the last Insurance meeting that I went to for my company said, our insurance is no longer going to cover bariatric surgeries. I don't understand why they wouldn't. Like I said I'm very fortunate it has change my life for the better. Why are they taking something so beneficial...away?

I'm almost 2 yrs out .....I still have to remind myself to slowwww downnnn. Definitely put fork or food down ...set a timer if need be. My daughter pointed out I can sit beside her and I eat nice and slow " she's a fast eater " but sitting across from her, she said I keep pace with her. So maybe family can also point out what your doing that you may not realize.. Now we laugh and she will say mom don't sit across from me.

I also find that while I'm away at work during the day I have no problem eating slow but I'm by myself it's much harder to eat slow when you're around people

Isn’t equating ‘treat’ with food of any type - exactly how we all got here in the first place ?

Haven’t even had my surgery yet. (4/12) but I am personally looking forward to being freed from that mindset. Especially whilst easy to do it in the early months. I am working on a ‘treat plan’ that doesn’t involve food. One that breaks that entire connection and embraces the advantages achieved by losing the weight. Ideas are.. nails done, hair, facial, massage ...clothes shopping, (then as weight reduces) .. country walk with friends, start sailing again, go for a ride without scaring the horse with my weight... There is SO MUCH world out there that’s enjoyable and much much more long lasting treat wise than eating a Reece-cup. (Which let’s face it, last 5 minutes and leaves you with no good feeling afterwards because you want another and can’t have it. ).

Cuz bottom line...we can live for a very very very long time without food at our former sizes. We are carrying a literal ass-load of fuel on our bodies. BUT you WILL die if you do not hydrate. If you don't hydrate, you have about 3 days MAX before death. And it's probably less cuz of the surgical stress on your body.

I don't think you have broken up with food yet. You are approaching wanting the treat for the 'high', that soothing feeling you get when the creamy goodness hits the back of your tongue and mmmmm you swoon.
Food rewards are a mindset you need to let go of, find a substitute that is not food now while it is 'easy' to follow the rules. I know you think we are being harsh....really we aren't trying to be mean or Nazis - we are in your corner. Hell we are IN the ring beside you fighting for ourselves and YOU cheering you on ALL the way!!! There will be all the time in the world to introduce that stuff into your plan, but there is only this window early on where it is easy to restrict and frankly if you do treats now you will lose weight, no issue so you think hey this surgery works, huh I CAN have treats and I'm losing weight. Yep. Then you will think that your plan will be how it works for all eternity. The mind can be the real Nazi.....lies lies lies it lies, it rationalizes. Trust us, we have been down that road you just got on....
Hang in there, cultivate some hobbies that keep you busy. Everyday isn't your birthday.

Well just stick around and post and show who you are and what you're made of here.
Everything comes out in the wash given time.

So glad your home and doing well ! It's wonderful to hear your excitement on starting your journey.. It is very exciting when shoes you've had in your closet fit agian and you can fit onto booths at restaurants. Clothes, Clothes, Clothes!!!! It's fun now to shop again. Thank you guys so much !!!! That's what I thought I will be calling the surgeon's office tomorrow and ask for something else. The thing is, doing the paperwork, I even put down that I had had the bariatric surgery cuz they wanted you to list all your surgeries in the past 5 years and I even put down under the medications that I take the bariatric Vitamins and Calcium. I guess it's so easy to just get so busy in your life that you just kind of forget these things but I'm glad I looked at the prescription when I got home and thought about that. I am so very thankful to have all of you help me when I am just not thinking straight

I have to have a tooth surgically removed they will put me to sleep and then afterwards the doctor has prescribed ibuprofen 600 of course it's after hours and I just now remembered we really have to be mindful of what medicines were taking ...oops ...is that a pain killer that we can take?
