Are you just walking on the treadmill at the gym? not even 2wks out from surgery and being at the gym sounds concerning to me, but if your doc cleared you then go for it I wasn't allowed to do much more than walk and could only lift up to 10lbs first week or so, then was allowed up to 20lbs. But I won't get full clearance for all activity until 6wks out. Until then, walking and light exercise are ok, moreso to keep your body moving while your insides finish healing up.

Lol hopefully it wont get to that. Also..flax seeds are really high in Fiber and would help with bowel movements. I found that metamucil works fastest.

I would try thinned mashed potatoes today to see how it's tolerated - you don't want to rush from the table nauseated. You can always fake the 'I have a slight intestinal problem since yesterday' excuse only if someone says anything. If you have not tried minced up meats, I would stay away from trying the turkey - but take some leftovers home and puree them there, pumpkin might be okay, but non-candied sweet potato would be better to try. Bring a lidded stainless steel thermal cup and put your Protein Drink in that so you do have some nutrition with you and no one can see what it is. If there are hors d'oeuvres you could try part of a deviled egg, if you traditionally do hors d'oeuvres, you could make turkey/chicken meatballs in a savory sauce and have one of those.

My surgery was Sep 6th and I have lost 60 pounds so far. I was told to sip on a Protein Shake throughout the day (do not use it for meal replacement) until I was able to get 60 grams of Protein per day and then to get off the Protein Shakes because it will slow the weight loss. I was also told to get off "SLIDER" food as of my 2 month follow up. I asked what Slider food was and was told it is anything with liquid type consistency that slides right through my pouch without stopping (I was eating cottage cheese for Breakfast and lunch and they want me to eat more solid food). They wanted me to eat more solid food so it would stay in my stomach longer and I would get more of the nutrients from the foods I was eating.

Yes, in the beginning I had to drink 3 shakes made with milk each day. But now that I can eat soft foods I've been decreased to 2 shakes per day. I'm at week 11. I've lost 48 pounds since September.

Ms. K that's great I have the same surgery date, however I don't go to my first visit until Nov 22. Let's stay in touch to encourage each other. I've been on my home scale and it looks like I've lost 12 so far but I like the Drs. Scale better.

It took me a year to lose 130 lbs. in my humble nurse opinion it is best to do something like this after having children and when you are close or at your goal weight. The first year you go through a lot of changes. The most critical months are the ones when you are fresh post op. It is necessary to develop and maintain good nutrition habits. I wish you luck and all the best! Congrats on your surgery!

ms.k_all_day reacted to Healthy_life2 in Drinking protein "shots"?
Taste and tolerance for foods comes with time. It's trial and error.
If shakes are making you sick and you can't stand the taste then why drink them? It might be time to figure how you can get real food in with your restriction.
Protein shot: Mixing 2oz of Water with a scoop of protien is going to be thick in texture. Sounds horrible to me.
Some things to try:
eat six small meals a day of real food.
Soft stage foods, canned chicken etc may help.
Choose lean meat. Its higher the protein
Try nature's best Isopure zero carb flavored protein water - 40 grams protein. If the taste is too much add water to it. (you may hate this product just as much)
wishing you the best to find what works.

ms.k_all_day reacted to Neens in 3 months post op
Its incredible how fast time passes, yesterday was my 3 months surgiversary and I couldn’t be happier.
The results im seeing amaze me, every day i’m more and more in love with my surgery, i became a new person, i’m happier, been going out a lot more, i can walk all I want and don’t get tired, i’m still working on some things like my laziness (the couch calls my name and i can’t resist it) luckily i lost my love for fries and chicken nuggets but i do miss diet coke
So far i lost almost 34 kg which I couldn’t have done without surgery.
Surgery was magical for me and the only thing I regret about this is that I didn’t do it sooner.
I’ll leave you some pics of my highest weight compared to what I look today and some stats.
