I have the sleeve and am 6 to 7 months out. I can eat whatever I want just smaller portions. I tend NOT to eat lots of bread or sandwiches cause it fills you too fast and you can't get your Protein requirements, and its a different full feeling, like a bad one.
My main diet consists of eggs, chicken, steak, chili, salmon, tuna steak, yogurts, cottage cheeses, nuts and salads...I have the occasional slice of pizza or 1/4 of a piece of sub sandwich, but processed coldcuts dont sit to well with me..
You basically have to see what you like to eat again and you will be eating smaller, human sized portions of it. Like now I can barely eat 2 eggs and 4 oz of Icelandic yogurt for Breakfast, where my old self would eat 3 to 4 egg omelette with cheese, 2 slices of toast with PB&J and 4 slices of turkey bacon, and 3 cups of coffee and still be hungry an hour later..

The major difference is separating your liquids from solids and not drinking with your meals, you dont realize how used to it you have become.

They quickly took care of the nausea. I just walked for the first time and vomited blood/mucus.

I was told this is normal due to the tube inserted during surgery.

    Pain is minimal.

Surgery was 10/16, down 16 lbs from surgery date. Feeling great! First day back at work, and found out that my slacks I wore pre-surgery are not possible to fit in now. Have to go shopping tonight for a few pair to hold me over for a few weeks. It's good to be able to see and feel the difference, even in a short time. Almost 70lbs down from my highest weight.

Surgery Was on 10/03, down 25.6 lbs. Weight loss slowed this week, but I am losing inches. I feel great. Red meat doesn't sit well with me nor does cheating by trying to sample bad choices, so yep...I stopped that nonsense. I finally got a small hunger feeling this week, but no cravings. I didn't see a difference, but others notice. So, I took a photo today and put it side by side with a before VSG pic and it is insane to see the face behind the extra lbs. How are you all doing? #wecandoit

Sorry to hear that. He is probably having some issues coping with the stress of the changes.

Did you talk to him about how he can support you during recovery? I am having my surgery 11/17, and I have been spelling out what I will need. For example, I normally cook the meals. After I am on the Bariatric regular diet, I can do that because I will add a carb for him. He is happy to eat what I eat with a carb. However, we are working out a plan for him to take care of his meals for himself preop liquid diet beginning on 11/3 and through week seven. On the occasion he wants fast good or pizza, he can eat it before he gets home, and I don’t want to smell microwave popcorn, so he has agreed to do bagged popcorn for movies. I know this may not help, but it is what I am trying.

Also, remind him of all the things that will be better for him if you are successful. He may be afraid that if you lose weight things will change for the worse for him.

I agree that we will have to get used to being around foods we need to avoid, but we need to at least get through the initial stages of recovery first.

Interesting, I guess all plans are different. For three months through reaching my goal weight, my program is a protein serving first, then a vegetable serving second if there is room, and then a fruit serving if there is room. No other carbs are allowed. They don’t share the maintenance diet this early, but I am guessing it is similar. I have surgery 11/17.

I am scheduled for 11/17. EGD this Monday and one preop appt. left. After submission of my paperwork, my surgery was approved by Cigna in less than two weeks. [emoji854]

Didn’t they give you a surgery binder or folder or email instructions? I am to have my last preop meal (a shake) between 4 and 6 pm the evening before surgery. Water only until midnight and then nothing else. There are also instructions for drinking the smallest sip of water possible to take certain required medications. Others are not allowed. It is all detailed very clearly in my instructions, and my surgery isn’t until 11/17. I would call my surgeon’s office tomorrow.
