Just got confirmation that I will in fact have my surgery on December 27! My liver shrinking diet will start 2 weeks prior. The countdown begins!
I am having my surgery at Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, FL. Dr. Rohan Joseph is my surgeon.

Just spoke with my surgeon's office this morning and as long as my last two appointments go ok next week (I'm sure they will) my surgery will be December 20th or 27th. I'm really pushing for the 27th to tie it in with my holiday days off and she said it will probably be no problem since a lot of people want before or after holidays... not during.
So excited!

You got this!! We all get nervous but you will do great! I'm doing it pretty much on my own (I'm 44) so I totally understand.

I was going to ask that as well. Mine is laparoscopic and although there is a couple more incisions, my surgeon said it won't be much worse than the gall bladder and appendectomy surgeries I've had. Other than the nausea. With both of those surgeries I was at work the next day with little/no pain. To be fair, I sit at a desk so no danger. Probably more chance for me to do something stupid at home than here!

I am so sorry to hear about your pain! Was it the stomach or the incisions? Have you thought about some of the Protein powders? They have tasteless ones that you can add to Water etc. I am keeping those options open for after my surgery in December. I hope things start going smoother for you! It will all be worth it!!!

That would make me pretty angry. I would feel so betrayed. I have decided to go the other route and tell everyone. One reason is that there is way too much stigma and misinformation surrounding it and I don't mind educating people. Also, I know a lady here who had it and didn't tell anyone. She lost weight and people gossiped. They never thought about bariatric surgery, they all assumed she had cancer. What did they do? Well, out of the goodness of their hearts, thinking that she was just being brave and not telling anyone, they started a gofundme and she finally told them the truth when it hit over $3000 and they presented it to her in the office.
So yeah, I'd rather correct the derpy folks who think this is the easy way out etc. than have people think I'm dying.

I totally understand. I am somewhat of an activist and stand up for issues (especially in my community) so I am so used to doing it.
I also have no problem not saying anything and just give 'em the stink eye and walk away. LOL!

It's up to the individual doctor whether they test or not. All mine tested for was pregnancy, even though I had my tubes tied.

I feel like this absolutely the best case scenario! GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!!! I have a really good plan as well so I'm thinking long term this will be my best case scenario as well!

2 weeks completely out and off, followed by 2 weeks working from home I’m lucky with my team and my boss, who are extremely supportive

I'm combining my remaining vacation days/holiday for a total of 11 days off. I work a desk job, so I'm hoping this will be sufficient.

Haven't had my surgery yet but my mother had a bypass 14 years ago and to this day if she eats a bit much her nose runs and she sneezes.
