  1. Perhaps you'll want to contract your surgeon and get something prescribed to help with the heartburn. Heartburn is no fun at all!
  2. Yah, @FluffyChix. My circadian rhythm is all kinds of messed up. I used to pretty much sleep through the night. Lately, I've been waking up 3-4x. I hope that this is temporary.
  3. Yup, my stomach is making weird gurgly noises too. I'm hoping that this isn't the new normal.
  4. The last two steri-strips covering my incisions just fell off. Everything looks really good and clean, perfectly scabbed over. I think that this bodes well. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. @honeyedlife Yes, please stay! Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. LOL! I don't know how anyone can take jello. To me, unless it is infused with vodka, jello is nasty.
  7. I am very glad to hear that you've changed your mind about the lap band. Whenever I hear people considering it, I want to shudder because the different in complications and potential dangers is markedly higher than sleeve or bypass. You've made a much better choice. Sleeve and bypass patients lose weight at a faster rate with better long term, successful outcomes.
  8. Thanks for sharing this time period, @Yadifan. I am glad you did because I just reviewed the discharge paperwork and I am only on puree for 2 weeks as well. Then on soft foods for 3 weeks. That seems like an awfully short time although the paperwork did say I could be on soft foods longer depending on tolerance.
  9. I think it will get better for you! It's all about time. Remember, everyone's body is very different. Mine is just really weird. I expected to be suffering like you wouldn't believe, and aside from the normal pain, I am doing okay. Yes, definitely give it a few days to get into the rhythm.
  10. My program is a little different. It is two days of clears and then 2 weeks of full. This was for both sleeve and bypass patients. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. I called my surgeon because I was concerned that I could drink awfully quickly and still not get sick. By quickly, I mean my 11oz protein shake in about 15 minutes. Of course, I'm full afterwards but I was concerned that I might be causing a problem. Doc said that if I am not nauseous or vomiting, it's okay. Each person's tolerances are very different. 12. You're most welcome. I can understand your desire for some variety. I'm already wanting some variety and I'm only 4 days post-op. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. I wish I had that option. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. I think I might have to do that because wholly sh1t it's bad!
  15. Congratulations on doing what you've been able to do on your own! I had Gastric Bypass and I think most of my nerves and fears were pretty much unfounded. I went into it expecting the worst so that everyday would be a pleasant surprise. As a diabetic, you made the right decision to go the bypass route. I am a diabetic myself and even just 4 days post-op, my numbers are so good that I don't need Metformin anymore. In just a few short days, I rid myself of Lantus (long-acting insulin), Victoza, and Metformin. As my weight continues to fall, I am hoping not to have to take Losartin for blood pressure but I have no side effects with it so either way. Also, the surgical technology is amazing nowadays. The laprascopic incisions are all basically done by robotics. The cuts are precise and the incisions are very clean. I compare this to when I had laprascopic surgery to remove my gall bladder in 2002. The incisions were still done by hand then and I had all kinds of drainage. In fact, it took weeks for the butterfly bandages to come off. These days, they use steri-strips or glue. My surgeon used basic steri-strips and three of them fell off yesterday at 3 days post-op.
  16. The liquid diet is a right of passage. Here is a way to look at it: you are making yourself safer for surgery. If you keep this tucked into the back of your mind, then it becomes easier. Yes, the liquid diet sucks a$$. There is really no other way to put it. One thing that seemed to help me was sugar-free popsicles. They have a lot of flavor and seem to distract from the hunger. It also gets easier after 5 days or so. The physical hunger goes away but you may still have head hunger or the desire to eat.
  17. Define forever. As a fast eater, forever might actually be only 15 minutes. The Baritastic App gives you a timer. Try using it and see what the actual time is.
  18. It does sound like you know that you went off the reservation. I think you learned that ice cream is a trigger food and you just might want to stay away from it altogether for a while. Just get back on the reservation as if nothing happened. For me, ice cream is pretty much a "no-no" due to it both being a trigger food and the potential for dumping syndrome.
  19. I am having trouble sleeping as well and this is despite the gas. I hate to say this but you and I may just have to power through. I managed to find a semi-comfortable position but it still is not that great. Are you allowed to take Tylenol? It is not an NSAID and it does seem to help reduce inflammation some which in turn reduces pain.

  21. The first couple of days can be tough while you're adjusting. Just hang in there and take your time. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. I don't think it is the morphine. You're just expelling the gasses used during surgery. It hasn't been an easy journey for me either. One of my incisions was really hurting up until today. Now it's dulled somewhat. Let's just keep moving forward. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. Check out Baritastic! I really like it.
  24. Only 100 pounds!? That's a helluva lot of weight.
  25. Okay, so you learned something valuable. Are you getting enough liquid in daily? From one of my past weight loss attempts, I remember the dietitian saying that the body sometimes uses hunger symptoms for both thirst and food. Try making certain that you're getting your 64oz of liquid in a day.
