  1. Yeah, you really have to get up and walk even though you may not feel like it. I had to force myself to do it so I can relate.
  2. You are taking a step in the right direction! I don't really have an experience to share with you but I am pulling for you. Losing weight will be the best thing for your heart. At one point in my journey, my primary care and cardiologist was very concerned that I might have had early stages of CHF. My cardiologist ordered a series of tests which came up negative but I remember the real fear I felt. Your nervousness is understandable. Do you have a surgeon or are you in the process of finding one?
  3. Have you done enough walking and moving? This is really the most effective way to get rid of the gas.
  4. I am facing the same problem with protein shakes. They're now nauseatingly sweet. I was going to try using some unflavored protein powder and mixing it with chicken broth but I am so close to getting to the pureed stage that I'll just power through. Pureed stage comes for me on Tuesday as I will be fully 14 days post-op.
  5. I think @Apple203 and @Creekimp13 probably coined the phrase. I also misspelled it. It should be a rite of passage. LOL!
  6. I just sent an email to Alex again. This time with the specific error message that you so kindly attached. :-D
  7. @Apple203 There is something wrong with my account. The system admins have no idea. I suppose I could create a new one but I'd lose all the work I put into this one.
  8. As others have said, this too shall pass. I know that it sucks but it's only temporary. :-D Believe you me, even gruel is looking tasty right about now.
  9. @Apple203 These next several months to are a year are all about you and they should be!
  10. I cannot countenance a pattern of being purposely mean and spiteful to someone you love. This pattern of behavior is not normative, it is sociopathic. I feel strongly about this because I am a survivor of verbal and psychological abuse.
  11. @FluffyChix Well done! Superbly played. :-) Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. I didn't get a letter. I only got a phone call from my surgeon's office saying that it is a go.
  13. I am sorry that this is happening. Yeah, my family members are irritating me more and I can't use the normal methods to drown out the irritation. I just sort of have to put up and shut up. Not fun nohow.
  14. At this point, please call your doctor! This sounds like it could be important.
  15. For me it was on the 9th day that I could finally sleep reasonable comfortably on my side. It is tough going through this kind of surgery and being a side sleep. I too am a side sleeper so I feel ya.
  16. I'm getting enough fluid and have very dry and cracked lips. Think I might need chap stick too.
  17. Today I was faced with all kinds of tempting foods. The smells were great but the thought of dumping syndrome was enough to make me keep on walking. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. It takes me a while to fall asleep despite my antidepressant making me sleepy. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. I found Premiere Protein be quite good without that smack taste that you speak of. That much said they still get old PDQ. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. I can relate! Protein shakes get old fast. They're a little easier once you get to post-op because at least you have a good chance of not being hungry. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. Thank you, @FluffyChix. It feels good to get rid of those. But as you said, this is surgical remission. We'll have to see what happens 6 months to a year down the road. I was only a diabetic for a short period of time (a little over a year.) I hope that this might be in time to reverse damage that may have been caused.
  22. Well, my psychologist says that it is part of the mourning process of letting an old and familiar self go. He also says that it some of it might be the realization that I will be unable to use food as medicine in the future. I've done this all of my life so it's going to be difficult to gradually find and discover better coping skills. I agree with him. Food kept me from experiencing the pain of my past. It's also that the body has undergone a huge change. In my case, my blood sugar averages went from probably around 150-60 to 98 and I am sure I've had some biochemical changes. Our bodies are meant to maintain tight blood sugar control tolerances. Furthermore, I got off of all 5 of the medicines I was using to control blood sugar and who knows how these effect biochemical process related to mood. Don't read too much into my experience, @optimisk. Your experience will be different as each person's is. Each person's biochemistry is so different and it is effected by their life's events and experiences. The one thing I can tell you is that this is major, serious surgery and is not to be taken lightly. It will be life changing in ways that will be unique to you.
  23. You're beautiful, @AshAsh1. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
  24. LOL! Let's hope I can maintain the focus. I am really scared of failing for the 3rd time.
  25. @Krista27 I'll keep my eyes peeled for your post that onederland has arrived!!
