  1. I think it is only a very, very small fraction of a percent that get the surgery and have it not work; less than 1%. It is so small as to be statistically insignificant. The bottom line is that weight loss surgery works! But it only works if you follow your program's guidelines, track your intake, and get some form of physical activity. If you can do this, it is almost a foregone conclusion that you will lose weight, but the speed at which you lose can vary greatly as each person's body is unique. Weight loss surgery is a tool, not the magical answer.
  2. I had the same thing for a few days post-op. This could be caused by the irritation that being intubated causes. During the surgery, you are intubated for oxygen delivery and for an endoscopy if the surgeon does that as well. Mine did. I should go away. I know I was hoarse for several days.
  3. Are you following the prescribed diet carefully? People lose at different rates. Just keep your nose to the grindstone and persevere. The scale will move.
  4. My favorite has to be Premiere ... hands down. Premiere Protein tastes really good and smooth. The Chocolate and Vanilla flavors are the best.
  5. That's great! Congratulations!
  6. I will get nausea if I am drinking water at room temperature. Cold water goes down okay.
  7. Yeah, my fluids are staying down okay. I don't have a thermometer. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app

  9. I guess I'm still queezy because I tried having some oatmeal as a snack and it came right up. I'm way behind on liquids. I'm going back to clears only now. Got to let the system recover. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. They did this for me to cover the cost of the A1C test. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. I got some more sleep in after my lunch disaster and I feel more recovered now. I think I'll go to the gym this evening.
  12. It most certainly does hurt! I took a nap and my stomach just aches now. I am on liquids and puree for the rest of the day.
  13. Small bites and chew, chew, chew. Ugh, I forgot and the meal ended up in the toilet. Oh well, lesson re-learned. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. Yeah, there is a risk for clots when cholesterol is that high. Mine was high but still sub-therapeutic. They didn't prescribe any statins. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app

  18. I'd love to go today but my legs are saying hell no. Especially because people are pissing me off right and left today and I can't use food to help relax. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. Wow that's a really inappropriate comment. I think you need to find a new doctor.

  22. That was sure a stroke of luck!
  23. I'll bet by the time I am writing this, you're on your way to the losers bench. Let us know how things go!
  24. I am sorry. I didn't mean to come off as judgemental. I should have clarified that the reasons I took the before pictures was to get validation from other people because I felt so crappy and insecure about myself.
  25. I dealt with this situation that you described while I was on the pre-op liquid diet. It means being in contact with your endocrinologist. I recommend contacting him or her about a week prior to beginning the pre-op diet. My endo told me to stop taking Victoza and insulin the day before the diet was to begin. She explained to me that both medicines will drop me too low. Instead I remained on Metformin for the duration of the pre-op liquid diet. So I would recommend you contact the prescribing doctor to let him or her know what's going on so they can make adjustments. Have you let the doctor know about your recent lows? Post-op, my endo also pulled me off of Metformin because she said it is no longer necessary and will only cause diarrhea and painful cramping in areas effected by the surgery. My endo was right and my diabetes has been effectively cured. It feels so good to be without 3 medicines for blood sugar control and 3 medicines for blood pressure/cholesterol. My friend, you've got nowhere to go but up.
