Badly. I've always been a drinker. Once I fully healed I became more of a drinker. One to two bottles of wine a day every day. I don't recommend that. If you're the kind of person who can have one or two drinks & stop, I envy you. I know myself well enough to know if there's a bottle open, I need to finish it. Today makes 105 days since I've had a drink.

did you have surgery oct 25th? if so me too! my issue has been getting those Protein Shakes in, i cannot stand the taste of them just looking at them makes me gag. Before surgery i had no issues at all drinking them but now they are the most disgusting thing to me. I am drinking protein Water instead recommended by my doctor (Bipro) which somewhat sits better with me.

I will be 3 weeks Post Op Wednesday and I literally cannot stop eating (nothing unhealthy of course) I am only eating what is on my list and next week I will be already on an unrestricted diet. I am concerned with the amount of food I am able to eat and I do not feel restricted at all. I eat Breakfast, lunch and dinner and a snack but I always find myself so hungry a few hrs sometimes even minutes after every meal and find myself snacking on string cheese mostly. I lost 17 pounds the first two weeks but I’ve been stuck at a stall the past week which I’m not too concerned about I am more concerned with the amount that I am eating with no restriction. The stage I am in right now consists of fish, tuna, yogurt, eggs, string cheese, Beans, lentil or split pea Soup and soft cooked vegetables. I am not sure if I should just ignore my hunger or eat. Has anyone else experienced this in the early stages?? I just feel like I’m doing something wrong !

I was kind of like that immediately after, but once the initial discomfort left me I got hungry. But then, my situation was likely a bit different than most, I think. I had a reaction to something and got a wicked rash all over my face, neck, chest, arms, etc... and so I wasn't able to take any of the usual meds after surgery, such as pain meds, Carafate, and nothing for nausea. Any side effects like nausea or fullness, loss of appetite (many pain meds do this) was out of my system quickly, and my last pain meds was the day I was discharged, and it was the stuff they sent home with me. So, I did discover that after adding back one item, the Carafate, that it makes me nauseous. Maybe that's why my appetite is different right after, though not sure. I also think the waves of painful hunger I've had and still do somewhat could be stomach acid rebound, which can be confused with actual hunger. I'm starting that Gaviscon stuff tonight, so I'll see if that squashes the weird hunger.

And yes, I hope we get that fullness and restriction once we're on more normal-consistency foods too. Counting the days when I can eat food that actually has a shape and isn't shaped like Soup. lol

    @dzelaya90
3 week surgiversary - you are still a virgin!!
people will not feel ANY restriction while they
are on liquids. liquids pass right thru you. yogurt is
a "slider", easy to eat, can eat lots without a prob.
(not true for everyone, but for me it is) you can eat
    yogurt though.
stop when you are supposed to stop.
cookies, candies, popcorn, chips are also easy to go
down, and you won't feel any restriction. so these foods
    are a sad "no no"!!
if you have a meal, and you still are feel hungry - KNOCK
    IT OFF!! LOL
amount you are allowed (even if you feel you could eat more - )
don't do it. People have been shot for less!! LOL
there is a saying in WLS land - JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN,
    DOESN'T MEAN YOU SHOULD!!
Ignore the head hunger (easier said than done)
you should/need to measure and ONLY eat the allotted amount
    per NUT. (nutritionist)
Not losing weight for one, two weeks is not an "official"
stall. 3+ weeks is a stall . most people do stall during weight loss.
stop worrying (you'll give yourself grey hairs/headaches)
    down 17 lbs - that's great.
    you are doing fine.
    good luck
    kathy

when I was 5 days out I wanted nothing to do with food or Protein just plain Water which sucked because since I was not getting any protein in i felt so crappy but gradually i started getting my hunger back. I am 3 weeks out tomorrow and like you said i feel way hungrier than when on liquids. I do believe though that once we move on from stages and have more options for meals with more protein we will feel the restriction i hope so at least! lol

Are any/all of you on acid reflux medication? A lot of veterans swear that this hunger is actually acid reflux and you need meds/ different meds/ increase in meds.
Restriction happens with dense Protein, if it is always eaten first and no more than 4oz at a time, then vegetables, then whatever else is allowed.
Soup, yogurt, tuna are all soft or semi-liquid and will not feel restricted. I feel restriction with chicken thigh meat and grilled salmon - that is the only thing I have consumed so far that is fairly dense. I feel no restriction with refried Beans or Soups or tuna - unless I were to eat an actual tuna steak maybe.

Feeling like no restriction I really did not feel mine until like the four weeks outs. The hunger is what some of us call head hunger just wanting to eat because that what we are were use to doing just eating all the time. I mean that's what I go through a lot of time and I am almost 8 weeks out. Hope it better for you guys. I do try to take in more Water it help some times but head hunger win sometimes

My surgery is in about 9 hrs! I am so nauseous and light headed I am not sure if it’s that I am nervous or just hungry from being on liquids lol. I wasn’t not one bit nervous until today. I can’t sleep! Ahhh! But at the same time I am excited to begin this new journey . Anyone else having surgery 10/25?
