  1. I was cleared to exercise at 6 weeks and started a Bariatric wellness program at a gym. I spoke with the office and don’t have any restrictions but when I asked about skiing she said to be careful. Six weeks is just a number and I need to listen to my body. She didn’t say no but a little vague. I didn’t ski that weekend but now I’m a little nervous doing crunches at the gym or too hard a workout. I feel good and doesn’t even feel like I had surgery. Curious how other people started working out and did you have any restrictions. I’m 7 weeks now. Thanks!
  2. @Creekimp13 How quickly can you drink water? I'm doing 8oz in about an hour. Sometimes a little less time but then I start belching or hiccups. And do you do one protein shake a day in addition to decaf coffee? I just ordered decaf so that's a great idea. I could not get that many snacks and meals because would be off on my 64 oz. I do the one shake with milk and the other 7 glasses in water or tea and three meals. The issue for me is waiting 30 min before and 30 min after for the 3 meals and not being able to drink liquids quickly. Just not enough hours in a day... God forbid I take a nap - lol. Huge improvement over a few weeks ago when nut wanted me to do 4 oz / hour. They don't want me doing more than 1 shake so try hard to concentrate on foods with higher protein like yogurt and fish. Sashimi is prob my best meal so far. Can eat almost 4 oz.. Greek yogurt is an easy way to get 15g. Thanks for any tips. I guess I shouldn't worry too much right now b/c I haven't hit any stalls but would like to get closer to 800-1000 so any tips would help.
  3. So interesting@creekimp13 I’m 4 ½ weeks out and I’m about 650 calories. My nut hasn’t talked about calorie goals just protein 60 to 80 and 64 oz of water. I’m at 70 and mostly get to 64oz. I eat about 2 oz of dense protein and 3-4 of fish. Other foods about 4-5 oz. not sure how I would increase calories without sacrificing protein or fluid. Thinking I could add potatoes or more fats but I would either have to add another meal which would lower my fluid intake or add to current eating which would lower intake of protein. I have slowly been increasing amount so will work on that. Does she have any suggestions on how to get there. Thanks!
  4. So interesting@creekimp13 Im a little past week 4 but and between 559-650 calories. Mainly focusing on getting to 70g of protein and 64oz of fluids. At this stage I can’t eat more without water intake suffering bc really can’t do much more than 3 to 5 oz depending on the food. I’m wondering how to get to 1000. Veggies would get me there. Does she recommend potatoes? Will start working out in a couple of weeks so hopefully can increase food. Not getting enough protein to sacrifice giving up some for other foods.
  5. The first couple of days at home I was only able to drink 24 to 28 oz of water and they were not happy with me. I was also eating yogurt and protein shake but they were concerned about blood clots and told me to skip yogurt to get more fluids. It’s so tough bc if you wake up a little late or take a nap you are derailed for the day. How much are you getting? It helped me to lay out a schedule for the day to make sure I could meet my 48 oz goal. The other thing that helped was having a small water bottle (8oz) in bed with me when I woke up in the middle of the night. I couldn’t sleep through the night for the first week so drinking for an hour in the middle of the night helped me reach my goal.
  6. Thanks for your input. I know my plan is more aggressive than most and I have to trust it somewhat but also need to listen to my body. Fortunately, I had a much better day today and going to hold off on eggs and give it a shot next week. Also wait a few more days for dense protein. Did cottage cheese. Retried beans with cheese which tasted amazing.
  7. I was fine the first week on shakes and liquids but started my soft / pureed stage on post op day 7 and having a tough time. Tried one egg which was ok, 2 oz of cottage cheese not great but not horrible and then 1.5 oz of salmon and felt chest pain and horrible for about 2 hours. Next day cut everything down to 1 oz and that was better. More of the same with some other meals. Some good and some bad. Yesterday was the worst day. I had 3/4 of a scrambled egg and felt fine. Then started a shake 2 hours later and started to feel nauseous. It's actually the first time I felt it since surgery and ended throwing up. I only had about 1-2 oz. The only thing I did differently was change the order b/c I usually have shake first and then food. I was at my daughter's nutcracker rehearsal and was getting stressed so I'm wondering if that played a role. I'm scared to eat today and wondering how long it took for other folks who had trouble initally to be able to eat without feeling horrible afterwards? I'm following all the rules about eating slowly and putting fork down in between. I even get up and do something and come back. I really don't have a full sensation. Usually it' s just a little chest pain which turns worse about 15 min later well after the 30 min I'm told to eat. Can last 1-2 hours. I feel empty inside and hard to get enough Protein and Water when I feel ill. I even got jealous when I saw a girl eating a turkey sandwich at the show - ugh. Also a challenge to plan anything outside the house.

    Protein?

I have fish on my plan at day 7. Had Tuna today and it was Jon. Everything tastes bad. I would follow you plan and call or email but if you need clarification. My plan really focused on protein in first 3 weeks and water. 60-80g of protein and at least 48 oz of water. Can have some veggie and applesauce but only after I’d finish protein first.
  9. It's my first day of eating soft and all the food I liked before, I don't. Do most of you find it's short term? Over time do you like the taste of some foods even if they might not be the ones you liked before. Pretty much nothing tastes good and I was looking forward to eating but now it's just a chore. Maybe that is the secret to loosing 100 lbs?
  10. Mine is 30 min as well but as time goes on I will be able to drink up until the time I eat. Not sure when
  11. I’m so excited to move on to next stage of eating. Today I start soft and puréed foods. Eggs, cottage cheese, fish, purée meats which I’m not sure I will do. Nervous but so looking forward to food even though I know it can be a let down. The shakes and sipping all day is tough. What was your go to in the first few days of food? Also how did you manage your schedule. I laid out the day from 7am to 11pm and since we have to separate liquids and food and my nut recommends 2 hours to drink 8 oz of liquid, there is no room for a break anywhere. Constant sipping, eating or waiting to sip again. Literally not even a 15 min gap. Supposed to take in 60-80g of protein and min 48 oz of water. Happy to say I’m down 9.7 lbs since surgery and 18 including 2 day liquid pre op!
  12. I had the same issue with anything that wasn’t bland. Couldn’t do vanilla shakes ore even my fruity vitamins mapped me gag. Fortunately I had unflavored protein powder and put it in a cup of milk with decaf coffee and that’s helped for a few days. Vanilla Greek yogurt tastes horrible but plain was tolerable. I’m one week out and can do choc shakes and vitamins are doable.

    How much walking?

Thanks everyone. I only up to 2.5 miles a day. I’ve been tired and it’s getting cold here. I’m feeling pretty decent know one week post op so will get out thEre more. Maybe take lasts at local mall although my trip to target earlier this week exhausted me.
  14. I'm 5 days post op and wondering how much I should be walking or what most are doing? Docs just say walk as much as you can. In the hospital I was talking laps every 1.5 - 2 hours. At home I've been taking one or two longer walks. Do you think it's better to do many short walks vs. 20 - 25 min walk at once. Today I did 7000 steps with about half at home just moving around.
  15. I'm actually only supposed to have plain. I was recommended by another sleever Dannon Oikos Triple Zero. It only has 4g of sugar. I think it tastes horrible right now but I think everything sweet tastes bad right now. Even my plain greek yogurt has 6g of sugar and it was approved to eat. I used to love Chobani Simply 100 but I think they may have taken it off the market. I don't see it and isn't online either.
