  1. Hello I am not sure if the revision to a mini gastric bypass will work but I am 100% committed to making it work. I got cocky after slimming down and got off track. Regretful to say the least. I found out that the procedure does not call for a reduction of the stomach because the sleeve already did that. Doing research now to look deeper into the physiological effects of the MGB and the difference between my GSS. If anyone can share their experience with the same surgery path I'd appreciate it. Thank you MJ
  2. I’m tomorrow 2 week pre-op was not to bad. I had a few bad days where I was bored of shakes. Cambell’s chicken noodle soup saved me from cheating. The whole experience was great practice in understanding my body and what hunger is and isn’t. I was full most of the time and really only experienced head hunger. It’s such a head game. I hope to continue to master my mind and body. Good luck November sleevers. [emoji1363]

    Surgery and Working

From surgery day to back to work on day 8 post-op. You have to walk a lot anyway might as well work and take walking breaks. I have a part time desk job and hear I should be okay. I plan I taking it easy and being careful. I can’t even take 2 weeks never mind 6 or 12. I think that’s for heavy lifting jobs or a real active and full time careers. God bless those who can take more time to recover.

    Broth Recommendations

I just got cubes and boxed broth. I sometimes add plan protein powder to make it creamy.

    November sleevers!

I'm going to Mexico on 11/4 for same day surgery, and super excited. I started weening off sugar and caffeine so Pre-Op & Post-Op diets would not be extra challenging. Made my jello today and picked up some extra drinks (G2, Power Ade Zero), and of course I have bouillon cubes LOL!. I stocked up on Premier Shakes and Isopure drinks too. I hear Premier has fruit drinks too. I also bought Barbaric Pal protein powders chocolate, vanilla, and plane to add to broth and such. Also have coming Unjury protein powder chicken soup. I hear its fabulous. I live alone and don't want to be stuck not feeling well and have to go to the store. Best wishes everyone. Found a nice person to watch my dog, and so thankful to have her caring for him. Haven't packed yet. Going to school online and trying to get ahead because i will be out of commission for a few days, and I am not packing all my books and computer. Anyone else having to put things on hold or manage timeline for a few days?
  7. I just started my Pre-Op today. Surgery is November 4th. So far so good, but I know it will get rough. Good luck everyone.

    What is your Pre-OP Diet?

Make sure that you include in your liquid diet fluids that are sugar free or low in sugar and calories. The idea is that your diet should be high in protein but low in fat and carbohydrates and therefore low in calories too. Some of the fluids you can include in your diet are:  Water  G2 ®  Propel ®  Power Ade Zero  Crystal Light ®, Clight ®, etc.  Dark coffee, preferably decaffeinated  Fruit juices without sugar or low sugar  Tea / Iced Tea, preferably decaffeinated  Sugar free gelatin (Jell-O®)  Premier Protein ®  Gold Standard 100% whey  Beef, poultry or vegetable broth (bouillon can be used)  Water with proteins like: Special K ® O2 or similar  Sugar free water Popsicles no seeds or fruit pieces  Kool-Aid ® unsweetened Tang ® unsweetened, etc.  Carnation ® Instant Breakfast Sugar free made with skim milk, soy or almond milk  Soups / low Carb (example: Campbell’s ® veggie soups or chicken noodle, the creamed soups are much higher in carbs) pureed with water ** You can use the whey protein powder as a substitute for a full meal, three times a day, supplementing with other options during the day. Mixing this powder with skim milk tastes better than with water. **Being only liquids it can seem that there is no way to overdo but it is possible, so you must ensure that the total intake of calories per day does not exceed 1000 calories.

    Getting protein in post-op

Take sips through an hour if you have to. It’s slow going at first. Your body is still recovering. I’m not sure about mixing fruit in the shake. I heard that’s to much sugar, plus it’s filling and you need to get the protein in first. One Premier Shake is 30 grams and one Isopure drink is 40 grams and that’s your protein for the day. It may take from 7 am to 1 to get the protein in then you can work on fitting in water.
  10. I am a little concerned about a possible Hiatal Hernia preventing my surgery. Has anyone been surprised, and had one fixed the same day as surgery? I know someone who this happened to, and she was lucky the doctor could scope, fix the Hiatal Hernia, and get sleeved all in the same day. Especially liked to hear from any sleevers who travelers to Mexico. Is this common?

    So many questions!

This is a huge forced change in behavior. It is a challenge. I'm sure it will take some time to adjust. I know a lot of people who experienced a minute or two of regret but its just the reality of the unhealthy relationship we all have with food instead of engaging our own lives. make sure you are taking the vitamins and getting in your 70 grams of protein. I hope you got discharge plan, or some guidance from your doctor. I got a Pre-Op and Post-Op diet plans before my surgery so I could buy stuff and be prepared. If not ask. having a support system is important. Kudos for reaching out. You will get lots of support here in the discussion groups. Also some doctors offices offer a support group. If yours does not maybe you could start one.

    Emotional crying already?

I will say there is some emotional stuff going on. How could there not be. The surgery is a big deal. Part of our body was removed. @ctdan stated trauma to the body. That is spot on. Its scary and heavyhearted, and it is okay to cry about all you have been through. Also stated above by @Walter.Sobchakto self-sooth. We know eating to comfort ourselves is not a good coping skill. Until new healthy habits or coping with life's ups and downs are created we are at a loss as to how to cope, and the tears or anger arises. I like the positive attitude of @Nicole42 Look to the future you want to create. Saying good-bye to food is a process. Each time you face a different problem, its the first time not having food to run to. Don't avoid the discomfort of feeling it usually is a signal that we are unhappy with something in our lives and we need to make a change. Take on the bull, horns and all. We have the power to change the way we navigate decision making. So cry for the long journey, but then get out of your own head and do something that makes you or even better makes someone else happy. You'll see results and your life will rise and shine. The best is yet to come.
  13. @eden30 Yes this type of behavior sucks especially to be on the receiving end. I find people don't like change that much. I think is scares them in many different ways. Jealousy is a human emotion which can mask our own self loathing for not having the commitment and self control to achieve a goals such as you did. I hope this offers a different perspective. It's not that they don't like what you accomplished, they might be jealous because they can't do it themselves. Another thing is people have a hard time adjusting to change. This may manifest because you were either the biggest, second biggest, third biggest etc.. person they knew who was overweight. However now you changed that and they need to adjust where you fit in there mind. We are creatures of habits (good or bad), and you moved your position. Once there are new experiences and memories formed any fears or jealousy fades away. Whatever their issues is do not let it interfere with your progress and continued goals.
