I’m 57 years old and I have no regrets getting the sleeve. Best thing I ever did.

You should not be eating solid food at 3 weeks. You should still be on full liquid until week 4. Then soft pudding type food for 2 weeks then some very soft chewed up food.

I’m five months out. My Hair loss started about a month or so ago. It was horrible at first huge clumps of hair coming out. Thankfully I have a lot of hair. But it seems to have slowed way down now and I am not pulling out as much hair as I was. Thank you Lord. I purchased a bottle of hair fluence from Amazon which is full of good things for your hair skin and nails. I don’t know if the decline had anything to do with starting to take those or not But I’ll take what I can get.

Statistically, no. Most people do not gain it all back. However, if you go back to your old way of eating then, well, of course you're going to regain. The key to WLS isn't losing weight. It's maintaining loss. However, your odds of maintaining a huge loss are much, much greater with WLS than without.

I'm still in the Honeymoon losing stage, but that didn't stop me from attending Cleveland Clinic's group session yesterday with the topic of Weight Gain. The room was packed with a lot of veterans about 2 years out.
The number one culprit per the presentation seems to be carbonated drinks (aka soda) that many cannot seem to give up permanently. I'm glad I was never a soda drinker, although I was as a kid (thanks mom - but they didn't know much about nutrition in the 50s and 60s; we also ate mashed potatoes nearly every dinner).
And to add to Babbs list, you should continue with support groups or nutritionist visits even after the year honeymoon period is over. Maintain portion and calorie control. Eat Breakfast, don't skip meals. Plan and shop and cook smart. Avoid or limit alcohol.
They don't believe in that 5 day pouch reset. They recommend going back to Phase IV diet plan. Here is a copy of the CCF entire plan that they released electronically. Enjoy

I had gastric bypass 15 years ago. In the last few years I have gained most of the weight back. I'm disappointed, I'm angry but very sad. I'm obsessed with sugar and can't get control.

The Beck Diet Solution book helped me with emotional eating. It doesn't have one scrap of information on dieting, which is nice because at this point, we know what to eat, we just aren't doing it. Instead it focuses on changing behaviors. I still use skills from this book and it's really helped me eliminate some bad habits. And finally, 2 1/2 years from surgery and I'm 2 pounds from goal.

First of all, your weight loss is not bad. I have lost 51 lbs total, but like 15 of that was before surgery, 7 months ago, on the starvation diet before surgery. So really my weight loss is similar to yours.
Probably you aren’t getting enough calories. Do not limit fat. Only eat healthy fats, but don’t limit them. Fat doesn’t make you fat and it is very satisfying and good for your brain, skin, etc. You can probably eat over 1000 cal a day at this point. Your exercise is better than mine. I have zero time and I try so hard to get my workouts in 3x a week. I love it. I literally can’t get me time because I care for too many other people. Sandwich generation.
if it takes you 18 months to lose the weight, so much the better. You’re probably doing very well. Not everyone can handle massive speedy weight loss. I’m glad I didn’t have that, but a nice slow decline and loss.
And I eat chocolate daily. But 85-91% dark. I trained myself to like super dark, which is no longer a sweet food at all. It is far less sweet than fruit, which I do not touch. It’s a healthy antioxidant with energy properties over 85% dark.
hang in there. You’re doing great.

I have recently found an ice cream bar that is loaded with Protein (14 grams), low fat and only 3 grams of sugar. I've not seen any negative side effects when I've eaten them, but I was just wondering if anyone else had tried this brand and what thoughts they had. I almost feel like they are too good to be true!

Awesome advice and thanks for your post! I'm a week and a half away from surgery, started pre-surgery diet 3.5 weeks ago and having a "I really miss carbs" day, so reading your posts really help! Thanks!

I am 3 weeks out and I'm on puree too. Only difference is I've been on puree since day 5. It's does get better! It might just be that it was a little too heavy. I wouldn't give up on it, just try eating one bite and then leaving it for half an hour. Sometimes it takes me over an hour to get things down but it's worth it because I like knowing I'm slowly giving my body some nutrients (: just bet use to eating things cold for a while! But yes I know the lump feeling you're talking about. I've found personally that comes from eating heavier foods to quick. I think it's might be the food moving into the sleeve slowly. Because it's thicker it takes a bit longer to get through the opening. I fix it with a hot drink. Just a couple mouth fulls to help dissolve and break up whatever is sitting there. (: hope this helps

I posted about this too... I didn't get much feedback either! I was wondering if the reason that I had stopped losing weight was done to the hormones? I have asked older sleevers who went through the menopause at the average age if it affected their weight loss and it hasn't seemed to ... a lot of the ladies I asked were at or ver near goal and a normal BMI...
I hate it; hate the fact that it is early; hate the way they make me feel; hate the mood swings... you get the picture!

I had my sleeve surgery a year ago and in May had a new sleep study. I was told at this point for me it is genetic and I will be on the CPAP. I am down 84 pounds. My Dr said most do come off it after they loose a lot of weight.

Hey. 1000s of years ago your genes were premium stock. Starvation resistant! Now they are just causing you problems. I too fall into self defeating depression when i dont see what I want on the scale. Best advice I ever got was to STOP LOOKING. I know everyone here is focused on the pounds their loosing but for some of us that becomes a major trigger. Stop weighing and focus on how you feel, how your clothes fit. Excersize because its good for you and will make you stronger. Eat nutritious foods because they will give you the energy you need. Your body will eventually let go, it has to. You focus internally and it will catch up to you soon.

Had the sleeve, January 2012. In less than a year, I went from 275 -115. I now stay, comfortably, at 122 +/- a pound once in a while. Maintenance was scary and hard to find my perfect balance. Was a thin tightrope for a while.
Only regret? That it wasn't an option in my teens so I could've lived my life instead of hiding, sitting on the couch, eating, watching TV and being alone.
I've been working at living my life from now on!
    Great advice & insight @monalyssa33

I’m one week from my surgery and all the sudden I’m freaking out! I don’t have a ton of foods that I love but ice cream is pretty awesome... will I ever be able to eat it again? What if the doctor is drunk? What if he nicks a artery? What is I die or have horrible complications? Or what if it doesn’t work? What if I gain it all back? Also... how come I’m all the sudden wanting to eat everything in sight?? Is this psychological?? I’m excited but so nervous. Can anyone relate?!
