I lost only 10 pounds in the first month in fact I've only lost 24 pounds in the first two months of surgery - For some of us it takes a little longer to see the scale change. My advice hide the scale and concentrate on how your clothes feel. I've moved from a 3X in February when I started the process to a 2x by 8/14 surgery to a 14 . It is not instant and will take time - keep walking and drinking lots of Water.

I didn't start seeing loss until 3 weeks after surgery. It will happen. Many of us have had the same problem with doing everything we are supposed to but nothing changes, then you just start dropping weight like crazy.

I do the same. Always finding something else to save. You can even post a pic of your meals and put a comment down for other Pinterest-ers. I do that periodically.

I was just sleeved on Monday. I admit that I cheated twice. It was very hard smelling food and not being able to eat. Are you able to eat Jello? That helps a little. I lost 10 pounds on that diet. My surgery went well. Hang in there!

I was sleeved on 11/01/16 and weighed 320lbs. I have been obese my entire life and today my BMI changed to overweight. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to be overweight. My weight as of today was 185.7 lbs and I couldn’t be happier having had VSG surgery. I will be 11 months post op on 10/1 and my life has changed so much in these 11 months.

I for one have questions for you people that "don't believe in" Global warming.
Does this shirk your responsiblities from saving the environment?
Does this mean that you can waste gas and electricity?
Does this mean we shouldnt try to find alternative resources in fuel?
Why waste time in arguing weither or not Global warming is happening and just find solutions to the problems of smog (really caused by cars and trucks) and the fact that fossil fuels ARE limited?
Lakes and streams REALLY are polluted by industries.
Is there really a point to sit here and say, "lalalala- dont believe you" or hurdle insults at each other?

1 week post op today. I have done alright over all. No nausea, able to keep fluids down. I am also getting at least 60 grams of Protein. I am still sore, and still have a heavy feeling in my abdomen at times. How long did it take for these symptoms to improve?

    Everyone has issues like that.
People are always going to be unsupportive.
You need to do what is best for you.
It's not about losing some weight, it's about losing weight and keeping it off.
Anyone can lose some weight, but long term success is what matters.

I couldn't say whether its normal since I didn't break my diet during the healing period. The thickest thing I ate for the first 3 weeks was yogurt.
pizza? Salami? These are not just dangerous to an operated-on stomach, but should largely be off diet for the duration of your weight loss period. And if you hope to keep the weight off, those types of foods have to be limited long-term.
This is a hard time. You are trying to recover from major surgery and learn a new lifestyle, all at the same time.
20% of patients regain a significant amount of the weight they lost in the first year postop. For good long term results, you have to work on what goes on your plate, not just how much.

I follow my program to the letter. I just don't want to go back to the things that contributed to my obesity. I made a personal choice to follow the program because my own "program" obviously failed me before.

Your stomach is not healed. The initial scar tissue isn't completely in place until 6-8 weeks postop. Leaks can still happen until 9 weeks postop.
Smoking will slow down the healing process.
Your stomach is still tender, raw, and swollen at 3 and 4 weeks postop.
Please follow your doctor's plan for the first 9 weeks. If you wonder about the veracity of my statements, feel free to ask your team.
Edited to add... I noticed you are a bypass patient. Leaks may not be as much of a concern for you (I was thinking sleeve), but ulcers and strictures ARE a concern, so you don't want to irritate your pouch. Again, please ask your team.

I feel good. Feels like I did a million of crunches, lol. No hunger, I have to remind myself to eat popsicles, drink Water, and slowly walk out the gas. Since 10/01 I'm down 12lbs.

    Rita913 reacted to Berry78 in Jell-o?
Usually the sugar free jell is permitted (zero carbs). But, the pudding is quite different. At 12g carbs per half a cup, it might be too many carbs for your program. Ask your team about what is permitted and target carbohydrate numbers.
To give you an idea, I was consuming about 45 carbs for the day on the preop diet, and that may well be at the upper end of what most programs allow.
