  1. So its been a while but i am officially one year out. I did have a 3 month illness with DVT not sure if it was surgery related, I do feel that is one of the reasons I'm not as far as I should be. I am thankful to lost the 73lbs that I am down. I am currently waiting for the weather to change so I can get back to walk,

Congrats!! Don't let weather be an excuse! Walk in your house. Walk at the mall. :) I walk in endless circles around my house (inside) now that it's cold! Glad the DVT is over!

First Weigh In Since Surgery :)

    I was sleeved January 23rd 2018. I lost 11.4 pounds since surgery day. HW: 338 SW: 317.2 CW: 307
  3. Hello, I started my journey at my heaviest weight 338.5 . After meeting with the nutritionist the first time she gave me restrictions no fried food, sugar, soda, no caffeine, and only whole grain complex carbs. I followed all her instructions because I was going to take control of my life. When I went back in a month I was at 329.5 . I followed this plan all the way to my pre op diet although I didn't monitor my weight. The day of my surgery ,January 23, I hopped on the scale and weighed in at 317.2 . Today I went to see my primary doctor for a two week follow up. When I hopped on the scale it read 307. I was so excited 31.5 lbs gone in the blink of an eye.

    Finding your full

I was sleeved January 23rd. I just kind of ate really slow and waited for subtle changes in my digestive system. I've discovered that my full is 1/4 cup and when I reach it I get the hiccups.
  5. I was sleeved January 23rd of 2018. I lost 11.4lbs my first 7 days after surgery.
  6. I'm scheduled for surgery January 23rd. Im on day 3 of my pre op diet which consists of 3 protein shakes, one meal, and unlimited liquids. I've been doing really good with it so far. The reality of the actual surgery hasn't hit me yet, it's like I'm just changing my life and walking into the unknown.
  7. OK so it's been a while since I've been on here. I had a home sleep study November 18th on the 28th they called to tell me I was missing data from my belly belt (meaning it didn't register). I was told to reschedule the test for December 16th. Now I'm sitting waiting for these results to come back. I hope this is the last I hear about a sleep study. I started this journey on September 7th, everything was done by October 16th except the sleep study. I've taken it twice...it's just frustrating to know everyone has cleared and we're just waiting on this study.

  8. I've done a lot of the pre op stuff and still haven't met with the surgeon yet. I'm hoping to get a mid November date when I see him next week. I have two nutritionist appointments, pulmonary***, psych, and a sleep study left. I did my labs, radiology, primary, cardiac, and one nutritionist visit. ***appointment is schedule for the 10th of October
  9. My surgeon is Dr. Louis Balsama, my insurance Horizon NJ Health

So my name is Loren and I am beginning my weight loss journey. On September 7th I went to a very small seminar at the surgeons office, and right after I had my first nutrition consult. I was told that I qualified and given a folder full of things that I could get started on if I wanted. September 8th I ran to get my blood work done. September 12th I went for my UG I and chest x-rays at 8:30 in the morning. Around 10:30 am the surgeons office called to go over my results. I found out I had pre diabetes, vitamin B and D deficient. The diabetes is not a problem the number was a 6.3 so it wasn't treated. The Vitamin D is being treated at 50,000 units once a week, and Vitamin B is just over the counter...no red flags. UG I and chest x-rays were perfect. September 14th  I went to my primary to get clearance and my medical history. She was more than happy to do it for me. She told me this a great life changing opportunity.  September 15th I went for my cardiac clearance ekg was fine so I was in and out in a flash. I scheduled my appointment with the surgeon and that appointment is coming up on the 28th of September. Yes, you read that correctly I've done all this running around and haven't had my first appointment with the surgeon yet. All that is left is my pulmonary visit on October 10th, the psych evaluation, a sleep study, two more nutrition visits, and pre op class. I don't know what to expect from the consult with the doctor...I wish I was able to get a date at this visit. Im really hoping for a November or December date at this point.

I know how you feel, the Dr that I was going through for my surgery got closed down by the health system she worked for, I was a few months away from surgery and had the date set. I ended up going to another Dr and explaining things to them and that is when they started fast tracking everything for me and my stuff moved about as fast as you are going now. Had my first appointment at the end of May and then was qualified before the end of June and they were trying to schedule surgery for July but it depended on my psych eval. She didn't have an appointment until mid June so the earliest that they could get me in was in August. I am not sure what advice I can give you to ask your surgeon but I can tell you to do your research and any questions that you may not ask him can be found on this or other sites or you can just call the office and I'm sure that they will be more than happy to answer any questions. You will fly through the process and look back and not believe how fast it all was!
