I'm really not sure where you are getting your information from concerning Mexico. Their standards are at least as high if not higher than in the US or Canada. I had my bariatric surgery in Mexico and had one of the best bariatric surgeons in Mexico, who is now an International Member of ASMBS (American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery). Also, the hospital (Oasis of Hope-a full service hospital, not a clinic) where I had my surgery had very skilled and educated surgical staff, doctors, and nurses, who were more attentive than in the US. They came to the room when I hit the nurse button. They didn't ask me what was wrong on the speaker; they came to my room. The company I went through also had valets that checked on me and my companion to make sure we were doing fine. I stayed in the hospital for three days, then went to the hotel, where I was visited both days by a doctor to make sure I was progressing well. That kind of care doesn't exist in the US. It was the best hospital and subsequent care I have ever received, bar none. Not to mention the fact that whenever I have questions, for the rest of my life, I can get in touch with my surgeon and nutritionist, via email or Skype, and get my questions answered within 24 hours.
More than likely, I will go to Mexico, through the same company to get my plastic surgery as well, because I know I will be well taken care of.
My bariatric surgeon is Dr. Selim Illan, and the company I went through is Bariatricpal Team Mx.

Staying at relatives for the weekend.
    They ordered Chinese food.
I peeled two battered squid, and ate the squid inside ( they are tiny) , and said thank you! I am done!
There eyes popped out of there head, as I always used to Finnish everything lol.
I left the room , I could of fitted in more but I did not want to, it was less than 4 ounces, but I did not need that food. I suddenly thought I was in a dream world. All the stuff I could have a bite of.. But no , I am okay .. Did I have a sleeve or a brain transplant?

Anyone else have these moments? Thank you sleevey!!!

Really??? I just can't imagine doing that if I really loved my partner. Maybe it is just me but marriage is for better or worse so you have to be willing to give some things up and sacrifice if it is in the best interest of the one you love.

I completely understand what you are saying on one hand. When I didn't want to eat healthy I hated people telling me what to do. On the other hand, would you keep bottles of alcohol around an alcoholic? It's a thin line. I'm just wondering how other people handle it. I'm in therapy working on my relationship with food and I am just afraid that my son is developing the same habits he has. I want him to be healthy too but I know it's up to him. He eats candy and all that crap and it doesn't even effect me. I just wish he would avoid a few of my triggers or favorites. It's just hard.

With only love and camaraderie in my heart for you, I would say that you are correct to be alarmed and that your spouse is NOT supporting you. Think if your problem had been smoking rather than being overweight. If your doctor had diagnosed you with a smoking disease and your spouse continued to smoke in front of you, in your house, and in front of your child, it would be clear that he does not have your best interests at heart. This is no different.

You've done all of the hard work of getting your life back! This is no small feat. It seems that as part of this change you have also considered the benefirs2to your child. Many of us were not overweight or obese children. But some of us were. Those that were know how they became that way through the choices their parents made for them and how they taught them to view food. In other words, these children have lost part of their longevity and their health at such a young age!! Please don't let this happen to your child.

I suggest you get some couples and family counseling so that you have the professional help you need as an individual ans for your family. Hopefully your spouse will see how serious this matter is. In the meantime, reqch out to your support groups to keep you going. You are a kick ass lady, and a kick ass mom. God bless.

So, I am just focusing on getting enough liquid in the next few days. Will reevaluate at the end of the week, because I am not itching to start puree: the only things on the list that appeal to me are runny scrambled eggs and yogurt.

Today is Sunday, and I will be discharged from the hospital in the next few hours. My surgery was on Friday morning.

I did not feel any nausea, so I was quickly moved to Clear Liquids. However, I had my brother bring me about 4oz of organic consomme I had made in days previous, and an organic herbal tea bag. The Lipton and god only knows powdered bullion they offered me does not cut it

Thanks,@KateBruin. It's crazy how different everyone's plans are. I think that's where I got confused. Reading all these posting boards, it seems pretty common that tuna/chicken salad are common. I'll call my NUT this week to double check. I'm fine sticking with the other soft foods, except I just FELT so much better with the concentrated substantial whole food nutrition in my body. If I can keep sampling chicken/tuna salad, I think my family would love me a little more these next couple weeks.

I wasn't told I needed to stop the caffeine, so I have been having my usual 12-14 oz of organic black coffee in the morning.

The first few days of the liquid diet were very tough: the first day there was excitement, but on days 2 and 3 I was hangry! After the first week, I got used to it and am now ready to get this over with. This morning I have lost nearly 15 lbs since starting the liquid diet.

I've been using the Premier Protein shakes (30g/serving), which I bought from Amazon. I am hoping that I can still stomach them afterwards because I still have quite a few, and I hate the idea of stirring powder into the tiny amounts of liquid I'll be able to drink in the first month. Fingers crossed.

All the best to you. [emoji4]
