  1. I'm stuck. Hanging in though, no gain, no loss. Congrats everyone! woohoo!
  2. Turler, Leslie and Hippiemama, you are not alone, I am so hungry at times. I have no fill as yet either, set for May 15. I have found through a Gastric-bypass friend at work, a Tasteless protein that you can add to any drink or food for added protein and it seems to help you feel a little fuller..... I think. It is Any Whey Protein Powder. It gives 17 grams of protein per serving. Drinking while eating is also an issue for me, it is so hard to do and I find myself watching the clock for when I can drink. I am glad everyone is doing well for the most part, can't wait to see what we do with "fills".
  3. It's my understanding that if it is the few weeks prior to surgery it is surgeon requesting to shrink the liver. If it is the six month deal, thats the insurance company.
  4. Wow, Leslie, sounds like your doing great. I just started my mushie phase today. Your incisions are almost completely healed? WOW! I am way behind, mine aren't, and I believe I am having an allergic reaction to something, my itching is progressing, I seem to have a rash on my stomach. I'm going to try to call my surgeons office tomorrow, but something in the back of my mind tells me that I remember they are closed on Fridays, I hope not!
  5. The pain will absolutely get better, day by day. Hang in there. Don't feel alone, your not. The liquid diet is tough but it gets easier, though its an up and downhill battle. You can do this. Take your pain meds and just relax, there is no point in hurting more than you have to. I took them regularly trust me, and as soon as I started feeling better I stopped. You will too. No, you didn't make a mistake, we worked too hard to get here to even consider that thought girlie, :blushing:.
  6. I was banded on the 10th, pre-op to present 17 pounds!
  7. Hey Leslie, I'm glad you are doing so well. I am doing pretty good, much better now that I got to move from liquids to full liquids. Your on mushies? I'm so jealous. I am sore too, port site mainly. I'm ready to get to normal eating and fills and watching this weight go aren't you?
  8. Hi Grace, I too have BCBS AL. I would definitely go to the website and check it out...... call the number and they can guide you to it... there are different rules according to your contract. But mine said it couldn't be the surgeons office, it had to be the PCP.... not only that it had to be within a day of the same time each month. I had to be weighed and notes made on my progress or lack there of each month. They are very strict about that. Call your employer and ask for the bc rep... speak to them and they can get you to the right info.
  9. Good luck to you both on your surgeries tomorrow. I wish you quick surgeries and minimal pain. Lets compare notes next week,
  10. Congrats to all on your continued quick recovery. Natasha, if you don't mind my asking........ I had gall bladder surgery several years ago too, I was curious if there was any difficulty on your surgery due to scar tissue or if it effected it at all?
  11. Don't worry, I'll bet one of these mornings soon you will wake up and have lost. it will all catch up. It better anyway, lol, this isn't easy.
  12. Hi all! Happy bandweek! I am scheduled for surgery Thursday April 10, but have to call the day before to get my surgery time. I too am nervous. I am fine one minute nervous the next. I am having a little bit of seperation anxiety from the food thing for the future, ha. I have been on high protein since last thursday and feeling hungry today for some reason. Good luck to everyone!
  13. I'm nervously excited too! I am to be banded on the 10th. Reading all of your experiences thus far is helping some of the anxiety. Please keep telling us, it helps so much! I am so happy that everyone is doing so well!!!!!
  14. So glad your feeling better wickman. As for the GB surgery, that I have had and it was not bad at all....... the worst was the gas pains for me, and that is typical with all abdominal type surgeries as I understand it..... my Dr. also told me that the GB surgery and the LB surgery were much the same as far as the incisions and the pain. So that is what I am hoping for when April 10 comes around for me. You'll do great... don't worry.
  15. Hey, just wanted to say welcome and to tell you I'm from Bama too! Good luck with everything~
  16. It is encouraging to me to read this as well. I have well over 100 lbs to lose. I went today for my pre-admission stuff at the hospital. My surgery is scheduled for April 10.
  17. On this subject like any other, everyone has an opinion. Though it seems that anything weight related seems to be especially wrought with thoughts, opinions and views. It's easy to say what you would or would not do or to tell someone else how they would or should handle weight issues, especially when its not something they have personally had to deal with. First thing is not everyone is the same, what works for some doesn't work for everyone. I dare say if weightloss were so simple, no one would be fat. When I first made up my mind to be banded I was selective with who I told for that very reason. I have a few very opinionated friends and I started out explaining that I wanted to tell them something but first I wanted it understood that my mind was already made up, that I had researched this issue, discussed it with my doctor and had prayed about it.. that this was something I felt was best for me...that I would appreciate the support, however, I didn't want to hear anythink negative about it. Whether I succeed or whether I fail is on me. If they care about you then they will support you in your decision, if not, it doesn't matter anyway. This is your life and your body. Find friends who will support you and be proud of yourself for making this decision. It is an enormous step and I am finding this site to be wonderful for support and encouragement so if nothing else log on here everyday and get your moral support and encouragement here. Most importantly do not let anyone bring you down for trying to do what is best for you, be proud of yourself and your decision to make life better for you. I applaud you your decision as I do everyone else on here, myself included. Take care, and good luck. Chin Up!
  18. Good for you!! I am so glad that you are doing as well as you are! It is so encouraging to hear and alleviates a little of the anxiety. I'm not far behind you, April 10.

  23. HA! Carol, I am pretty sure the husky will be your downfall on the liquids, however, maybe you might be able to get away with the caramel paint! :cursing:
  24. YVONNEKY, I know exactly what your saying and feel the same way!
  25. My surgery date is April 10 also! I am excited and nervous!
