  1. Yes I can eat anything I have not found any problem eating. I am about 10 months out and I can eat about 8-12 oz of solid food at a time depending on what it is which is a decent portion. I packed for lunch today 4oz of grilled chicken and 6 oz of steamed vegetables and couldn’t finish the vegetables. I just started meal prepping for work since I started my new job and find it very helpful to weigh my portions at home so I don’t end up wasting a lot of food.
  2. So I was living in NYC when I decided to get sleeved. Went to Texas to have my surgery done because it was about 1/3 of the price in NYC. 1 month after I was sleeved I decided to move back to the Caribbean and just chill out and focus on myself for a while. So now I'm living in St. Vincent struggling with my old habits because obviously missing the local food from living away it's hard to resist lol. So it's definitely been an interesting journey lots of things to adjust to. But I've definitely been working my ass off!! I'm back playing sports and in the best shape of my life. I currently work out 5-7 days a week. I play rugby Monday, Tuesday Wednesday I go to the gym on Thursday and play tennis with a coach on Friday and yoga on weekends. Since surgery I have stopped snoring! I have more energy. I no longer have insomnia, sleep sound every single night. If snap a lot about my weight loss. What I eat and my work outs. So if anyone wants to follow me on Snapchat and engage join the club snapchat# mzlala784 HW: 330 Sleeved: August 31 2017 SW: 305 CW: 257 Total weight lost : 73 pounds !!!!!

    Marijuana smoking after surgery

I smoked the entire time. Two weeks before and after surgery I vaped only with the thc pens. Then I started back smoking. I don't really have the munchies but I don't keep junk food at my house so even if I do get munchies I can grab some fruit or a shake. I definitely has helped my recovery, I was able to stopped taking my pain medication after one day. I just walked a lot and smoked.

Week 4 post op any food suggestions??

Have soups! They were my saving grace. I lived in NYC and they have a lot of great soup spots there that absolutely saved me. You can also cook and make your own. Poached eggs are great as well nice and soft and tuna salad. Mashed vegetables are good too, some cauliflower and carrot mash. Trust me you have a lot of options just have to be a little creative. What phase in your diet are you on ?

What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?

    1. I never get my full amount of water in. 2. I smoke wayy too much weed. I've been smoking pretty much everyday since my surgery luckily I don't get munchies. The week of my surgery and three weeks after I vaped only. 3. I don't chew my food enough. 4. I have sugar on occasion. 5. I push myself way to hard when I exercise. 6. Missing my vitamins at least two days a week. 6 weeks post op and absolutely loving my sleeve. I feel like I have the prefect amount of restriction. I can still actually enjoy food some what and lose weight I'm loving it.

Day 16 has not been easy

Even though it's in your plan doesn't mean you have to eat it now. Your body just probably isn't ready yet. Stick to what's working then try again with the meat in a week or so and see what happens.

    Eating solids

My post op diet lasts for 3 months. My doctor provided me with a sleeve guide that he wrote himself which is like my bible. It has detailed guidelines for what I should be eating when and I am so grateful for it. It really takes a lot of the guess work out of it, I can just open up my sleeve manual and know what to eat. It even has sample menus for days from each phase. I am in my 4th week now and just started soft foods. I am definitely enjoying my journey it's given me a really great challenge and I get to put my cooking skills to the test coming up with really tasty soups and purées. My soups come out so good my grandmother and aunt have started eating with me and they lost some weight as well. Just take it easy and enjoy the journey you'll be eating back to normal before you know it.

People with average weight don't get it.

I get this all the time. I'm 22 years old and my highest weight was 330. I have always been very active playing sports ect but have always had problems skipping meals and over eating to compensate. Plus I had very bad insomnia and would stay up to 6am and snack in bed. I know horrible. I would go on these crazy diets lose 20 pounds then smell a snickers bar and gain back 30 and get so discouraged it would just fall apart. When I first decided to have the surgery and I brought the idea to my friends they just could not comprehend why I would want to do such a thing to my body. Why not just diet and exercise, I have been overweight since I was about 8 years old and have been dieting for the majority of my life. I got my first gym membership when I was about 11 when I started high school ( I'm from the Caribbean). Dieting just isn't enough for everyone, for people like me we need a little bit more help. I honestly don't care what most people think of my decision and don't choose to justify it to anyone. This is something I'm doing for me to help improve my life and not just lose some weight but to keep it off. The only person that needs to be ok with what I did was me and I'm 3 weeks post op and I am absolutely thrilled with my results so far. For the haters they can suck it honestly.

    Question!

I really love the muscle milk pro series. They're pretty adorable they taste great and have 32g protein in an 11 oz serving with only 1g sugar and 160 calories. Did I mention they were delicious the vanilla flavor literally tastes like a milkshake.
  10. So I'm 22 years old and had VSG surgery 2 weeks ago. I am very happy with my weightloss and honestly not being about to eat isn't bothered me in the way that I expected. I don't miss food that much but I miss the social aspect of it. I am a person that enjoyed very much cooking large meals and having dinners with my friends and family to show them that I care. Baking cakes for my friends birthday and just going out to eat in general. I honestly didn't realize how much of my social life had food and alcohol in it until I had this surgery. Now all my friends are having dinners and parties to celebrate new jobs and back to school, my best friend is a pilot and she just got her instrument rating and a big dinner to celebrate. I'm like torn should I not go and spare myself the agony of watching everyone eat and drink or do I just stay home and be a sour puss. Any suggestions and tips on how to be social without making everyone feel awkward will definitely help !!! Please I need it. And plus I'm moving to another country in a few weeks so I really want to be able to spend time with my friends now.

    VSG ???

When I started my sleeve journey I was 330lbs granted I am 5'8 but still a lot of weight to be carrying around. With my pre op diet and being 2 weeks post op I have lost about 44 pounds in 5 weeks. No matter what surgery you get you're the one that's going to have to put the work in to reach your goals. The surgery is going to help you a lot but you can lose as much weight as you want to. If you feel like the sleeve is the choice for you all you have to do is put the extra work in to make sure your giving your body everything it needs to thrive. But Goodluck on your journey!!!

When can I start working out ?

I've just been walking a lot and it's crazy that I have as much energy as I do. I went for a 5 mile walk on Sunday and I'm on mile three right now walking as I type this. I go for walks everyday and I feel like it's really the reason why I've been feeling this good. I know I need to be taking it easy and letting my body heal but it's just so hard because I love being active and I really just wanna go do some light elliptical and cardio but I'm gonna pace myself. I called my doctors office today and they said to just keep walking for about two more weeks then I can start some cardio so I guess I'll just do that [emoji20]
  13. One of the main reasons that I really had my VSG was so that I could be more active. It's crazy but even as big as I am I've always loved sports and exercise. At 300+ pounds I played varsity basketball for two years in college. I played tennis as a kid and ballet but you get the point. I am now two weeks post op and I want to go to the gym sooo bad. With my pre op diet and post surgery I have already lost 40+ pounds and I just need to be out. I have been walking to the park and stuff but I just want to get on an elliptical and really get my heart rate up or do some yoga. Should I try or should I wait ?

    Feeling sad after surgery...

I was like you and didn't really want to say much about it but I ended up telling my very judgmental grandmother about it and she was surprisingly supportive. She even few with me to Dallas to have the surgery done despite her fear of flying. You don't know what people's reactions are going to be until you tell them and honestly I could not have done this alone. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for because I could not have done what you have done alone. Maybe just start by telling one person a close friend or family member it's always good to have someone to talk to and vent to that's not on the internet of course lol. It's tough I'm two weeks post op and woke up in pain this morning after not having pain for over a week. There are good days and bad days but your body is going through a lot right now and so are you. So just stay positive and take it easy follow the doctors orders and when in doubt call your surgeons office. Good luck sweetie [emoji4]
