The paperwork I received has NO NSAIDS FOR LIFE printed in bold. I was told for OTC pain relief, it should be Tylenol only.

I'm with creekimp on this, yeah.
Stuff tastes the same, but what I get out of it is different. And yep, that changes what I am interested in having.
That warm feeling of contentment when I would have heavy carbs--potatoes, Cereal, pasta--is gone. It just feels like loading my stomach with wet concrete. Not sure if I'll ever enjoy that stuff again.

All of these are good suggestions. Also, are you on any blood pressure medications? A few weeks after surgery my doctors took me off because I didn't need them anymore & was getting dizzy. Good luck to you!

Yes, you might be dehydrated and lack of food intake. My bloood pressure would be extremely low months after surgery. I would have to intake a piece of small sugar to get me going.

I would get some bouts of dizziness early on. Was always worse when I took a shower. Did your doc instruct you to monitor your temp and heart rate? That was something we had to do. Both should be under 100, degrees and BPM respectively.

Another likely cause so soon post op is dehydration. Make sure you are getting in those fluids. It’s tough in the beginning.

Your happiness comes before anyone else! If he can't get on the support train, then let him leave. Who would want you to be overweight and increase your risks of health and the quality of your life? Is he insecure that you will leave him anyways? I would rather be alone then in a relationship with someone threatening to leave if you better yourself. No way!

I find that sort of doing both is a good option ... i.e. a nice mix of high Protein and lower carbs.
I aim for a ratio of Proteins:Carbohydrates of 5:3 at best and 5:4 as acceptable.
    It's generally working for me.
With exercise, every loss I make at my weekly weigh-in is a 9:1 ratio FAT:LEAN ...
It may not be best for you but worth a try if your dietitian and/or your surgeon agree.

There are two phase to weight loss surgery: the Weight Loss Phase and the Maintenance phase. The weight loss phase tends to be short. I had RNY gastric bypass and I transitioned into the Maintenance phase at around 7 months. Sleeve patients lose weight at a much slower pace and sometimes enter Maintenance at 2 years.
So during the Weight Loss phase I advise that you adhere to the meal guidelines given by the surgeon and nutritionist. In the Maintenance phase, you have more freedom and go with what works for you.

    That is okay ...
    I'm 115 days post-op. That's sixteen and a half weeks.
It's six and a half months ... 28 weeks since i met my surgeon.
    Total loss = 36kg (80 pounds).
    Loss since op = 20.1kg (45 pounds).
You're doing fine. Your trend is good ... like mine ... and way better than being obese!
NOTE: I am male, 62 yo and I swim 2 to 3 hours daily.

It would seem the best thing for all.
Had the O.P. clearly stated what she alleged the doctor's nasty comment was [IN HER INITIAL POST], I'm sure the advice given by the many people in the first couple of pages of this thread would have been different.

I wasn't there and I have no concept of your psyche or your emotions but I can see that you feel aggrieved.
Put yourself in the surgeon's place for a minute or two.
He's given you the task of showing a relatively continuous weight-loss trend leading to surgery. In other words, he's asking if you're committed to your side of the task prior to his surgical intervention.
If he was to go ahead with surgery when you were not showing 100% commitment to losing weight weigh-in to weigh-in, he might be censured by insurers or his professional body. It might have a severe impact on his professional indemnity insurance costs if he plays fast and loose with patients who don't demonstrate 100% commitment to their own cause.

336Mike and Rainbow Warrior, I am so proud to know you both. You have gone to sleek silvery fish from whales, I can use the term, because I still have my blubber layer but,it will start melting soon and I'll become a flexible fish also. It won't be easy but it will be so so good.

Yes! Go ask your GP's opinion of whether you have trouble or not.
Have you been lifting small children without warming up first?

Your husband is facing a two-edged sword:
    1. He may genuinely feel that he will lose you on the operating table and is, therefore, trying to prevent that through whatever crappy reasoning he's using.
    2. He may (separately or jointly with # 1) feel that you will improve your body, your life and lifestyle significantly over 18 months to two years if you have WLS. If that occurs, he may (in his confused forward thinking) assume that you will meet and run off with a better quality man.
    What to do:
    A. Tell him clearly why you are getting the surgery and ask him to give you his support.
    B. Tell him that if he refuses # A that you really will still go ahead with your solution to your health/lifestyle for yourself. Add that you are not pleased about his objections but that you have to look after yourself for all the reasons you've outlined.
    - - -
If, ultimately, he's not strong enough to support you, LET HIM GO.

Did I miss a post? I don't think the Doctor actually called the poster names. That would be highly unprofessional and warrant disciplinary action that a formal complaint could help to ensure.

Could the patient also be sensitive about a direct conversation regarding requirements and rationales for them? It's hard to hear when we hear, especially those of us that are overweight and need to hear it. I'm a medical person and have had to deliver these talks as well as hear them. It's tough all around.

I truly hope, OP, you can be successful. It's a very helpful tool. But you do have to do the work. I have lost slower because I have slipped up and hone off program myself. But you can do this. Totally worth the sacrifices.

But again, to each, their own.
