My original goal weight was in the overweight category simply because I couldn't imagine weighing less than that (210), and I wanted to have a goal that was attainable. I blew right past that and have been in the healthy category for almost a year now.

    Sorry guys!
Most of us will never be professional athletes who have so much muscle that our BMIs don't reflect reality. However, with this being the guys room, I could understand how BMI might not be an important measure since a lot of men who lose weight also do a lot of weight training.

BMI doesn't determine if you are healthy or not. Most professional athletes are considered overweight by BMI. LeBron James is considered overweight by BMI. Do you think he really cares that his BMI is 27.5? I will guarantee you he is more fit than any person with a BMI under 25.

Most of my life I was a healthy weight up till 2008 when I married and started having kids. Stress and boredom got me where I am today. My goal weight is at a normal bmi, because that's where I can literally feel myself being again. It'll put me at 23.2. But because I'm older and have had kids (body changed), I don't mind 150-160 either, as long as I'm pumping muscle. If I'm not working out 🏋 with heavy weights, then I'll shoot for 145. But then again, I really don't care to think of numbers. If I'm happy and healthy without all this fat, then that's what I'll take. 😊

My lowest adult BMI was 23, which I was at for barely 6 months. I was a healthy overweight person most of life, active in a lot of sports and eating fairly healthily. So yeah, I'd like to get back there. My goal is to hit 24 BMI, cause I can't imagine myself any thinner, plus, it gives me some wiggle room in case I do regain a little with the "bounce back". But who knows - I may change my mind if and when I get there (which will admittedly be quite a while from now).

At my lowest adult weight, my BMI is barely "normal." My current goal weight gives me a BMI of 25.2 and I'm fine with that. My boyfriend, who is in excellent shape and has never had a weight problem, has a BMI that classifies him as obese. I know a few weight lifters in that same boat. I also have normal sized friends who are classified underweight and look fine. IMHO BMI doesn't take enough into consideration, and the only time I ever gave it any thought was when qualifying for surgery.

Drink alot of hot tea actually helps because it takes me awhile to drink it. And distractions also help keep busy!!
Honestly I would find a new Protein Shake just because that's the bulk of your liquid meals I feel like it' important that they are decent tasting.

When the scales are not moving, look to your NSVs.
    NSV = non-scale victory.
e.g. 1. Your belt buckle moves a notch or two.
e.g. 2. Your old 36" pants suddenly fit when they didn't last week.
e.g. 3. You can stick 2 or 3 fingers inside the buttoned-up neck of your shirt & tie.
e.g. 4. Your shoes are not so tight as they were a month ago.
e.g. 5. You can hold your breath for 45 seconds underwater (when before surgery/before exercise it was 18 seconds).
Watch for these or other examples of success.

Keep sipping Water. Try Decaf coffee or tea. Use sugar-free jellies (jellos).
    Keep fairly well-saturated.
Your mind needs to support the feeling of: "THIS IS SHORT TERM PAIN. I AM HEADING FOR A LIFELONG BETTER FUTURE."

    A well-worn piece of advice.
Water can often fill a hunger void for a while or defer your bad choices.

Yes ... to me couple of times in the 13 weeks post-op.
Yes, the happening is normal. The frequency varies.

It's not your mouth...it's your actual breath that smells odd with ketosis. When you start eating carbs again after surgery, it'll go away:)
Part of the smell is a release of keytones in your breath (that smell sickly sweet, almost maple syrupy), part is the breakdown of high Protein (that makes your breath smell of ammonia like yesterday's litter pan.)
When you start carbs again....you'll spill fewer keytones. Reducing protein in your diet from super high liquid stage levels will help with the ammonia part.
This, too, shall pass. You can mouthwash all day, but you're just gonna have weird breath.
That said....mouthwash anyway, and take care to clean your tongue...cause oral health issues can spring up when bodies are stressed (like during major surgery)...and the last thing you need is a sore tooth or gum, or case of thrush, etc.

I've seen a few people present this way.
    Maybe I should emulate:
    Jan 10, 2018: 308.4 pounds = FINAL
    Jan 03, 2018: 313.3
    Dec 27, 2107: 319.2
    Dec 20, 2107: 320.9
    Dec 13, 2107: 322.4
    Dec 06, 2107: 325.8
    Nov 29, 2107: 329.4
    Nov 22, 2107: 332.7
    Nov 15, 2017: 338.0
    Goal: 304
While I missed my goal by 4.4 pounds (or 2.0 kg) , I'm pleased that I went so well over the xmas-New Year period.
Thanks for running this @The New Kel

I basically told everyone. First my parents and husband and best friends, and then my social media. I am not making a secret out of it, I have a blog that I share too, the writing down helps me to process what is happening and what is going on in my life now and later.
But I had the one or other strange experience. Like a friend who heard surgery and got worried but when she heard what kind she was like "oh, okay" and told me that if I had done more before I wouldn't need the 'easy road' now. Since she is someone I care about I gave her a link to learn about the surgery and told her to repeat that to me after reading this, she never did.
If it's people I don't know or don't care much about I just let them talk. As a fat girl for over 30 years I have learned at some point to let haters hate. Pick your battles and all that. Of course, sometimes it still gets to me, I'm not a machine, but it has gotten easier. My body, my choice. Easy peasy.

Ditto ... People on BP claim they see a huge change in my photos two months apart.
I fail to see anything in the pics.
My NSVs, OTOH, give me a smile ... trouser waist down from 152cm to 138cm (or 60" to 54").
My body fat down from 47.8% to 42.6%.
My lung capacity up from 18 seconds holding breath to 44 seconds.
Was walking with a cane for support in June. Not using a cane now as my exercise extends past two hours per day. (Exercising 13 days per TWO WEEKS!)
Averaging 22500 steps/strokes on the Vivofit 3 wristband daily in December ... up from 3500 in September!
