Yesterday was my birthday and my "nutrition" for the day included a Protein Shake in the morning.....and then alcohol. No food. Because I'm really smart. (not)

It's been almost a year and my scars are fading really well on the sides and back, unfortunately... my tuck was really tight in the front and actually split open from the pressure on the incision (took about 3 months to heal). That scar is much wider and darker. The surgeon said he would revise it if I have another procedure, but I'm not sure about getting anything else done yet. I kind of like myself the way I am now :-).

I accidentally double-posted another topic so I thought I'd erase that duplicated content and put something else in its place. Is this the best I could do? Apparently. Did I put much effort into thinking of something else to post? Not really.
Anyway... in case you've forgotten how to update your stats (all the information under your username) try following these steps.
Make sure your dog, cat, or bird is watching so you can impress them.
    1. Go to PATIENTS (top of page).
    2. Select MY SURGERY.
3.a. Update the information under SURGERY
3 b. Select PROGRESS (see squiggly arrow on left side of screen) to update even more!
    4. Paste a gold star in the middle of your forehead. Good job!
While you're at it.... upload a photo or an animation above your username.
If there's anything else you don't know, ask someone else. Just kidding. No, really. Ask someone else. I probably don't know.

Thanks for checking up on me, @MsTipps - you are doing so well! I was officially down 81.4 lbs at the Dr! Very pleased with my progress, and warned me that weight loss will drop from 2-4lbs a week average to 1-2lbs a week average. Ugh! I really want to lose 10 this month so I can get under 200! Fingers crossed that I lose 9.5 more lbs! The only thing I'm still not doing great with is exercise. I just need to make that happen

    Hi again, friends!
Tomorrow will be the six month anniversary for my surgery! I have my 6 month follow up and I'm REALLY hoping I'm down 80lbs on their scale from the day of surgery. If not, it'll be wicked close. I can't believe how quickly 6 months has gone, and how much my body has changed. I am now a lower weight than I've been since probably Junior High. Sometimes I don't even recognize myself in the mirror!
I hope everyone else is doing well!

Yesterday was my 6 month surgiversary. I didn’t hit the 100lb mark but I got pretty darn close! I’m down a total of 97 pounds as of today! To say I’m excited with this is an extreme understatement!

@yes_anastasia Are you walking and or exercising? I found that when I increased my activity level I naturally increased my Water intake. When I officially started going to the gym I stalled for almost 3 weeks, that was extremely frustrating. Then when I started incorporating heavier weights I began seeing extreme slow downs. I realized I was trading fat for muscle but it was still difficult for me to accept this mentally. We will all see stalls, gains and other mental roadblocks along the way. I know you will push through this and will see much more progress in the future!

Ughhh.... scale hasn't budged in over a week. Trying to be patient and trust the process, but I am SOOOO close to "new territory" weight-wise as an adult. It's like my body is playing some head game! I've not been under 220 since Junior High! C'monnnnn body, lets goooo!
Being real though, I know I haven't been drinking enough Water every day so I could be doing a better job on my end. I think my nutrition is mostly on point, I consistently meet my Protein goals... so I'm hoping consistently upping my fluids to at least the 64oz mark every day will help me break through and continue losing. I only lost 10lbs last month, so I'd love to see at least another 10 this month before my 6 month follow up on August 1.

How are all my other January surgery buddies doing?

I'm 6.5 lbs away from the lowest weight I've ever been as an adult. I think being under 220 is going to make me cry... probably not as much as seeing 199 will, but I'm so excited for these milestones I never imagined possible!

The big take away from #2 is the "too strict" part. I'm sure you've seen reports of people eating very low amounts of calories talking about hitting the gym hard. You want enough fuel to support your activities at the gym **AND** your recovery from the activities at the gym. Going to the gym and doing 400-500 calories worth of exercising all while only consuming 600 calories is going force your body to prioritize where those 600 calories are going to get used. It's fine to be at a deficit, it's not fine to be as such a deficit that your body has to chose between survival and growth. This number is going to be greatly different for everyone, figuring out what your BMR is will help, and then it's going to take some playing. Typically if you ingest enough to cover the work out itself, you'll be ok. I know this article is a little light on the specifics, but I believe that's because of how differently each of us is and how much our requirements vary.
I think a good take away is, if you are consuming a fairly low amount of calories, and you are working out but not seeing any losses (fat loss at the least) then I'd suggest kicking up the intake 100 calories or so for a few days to see if you've got any changes. If the extra 100 doesn't do anything, and you aren't gaining, go up another 100 for a few days. It's going to be a bit of a balancing act to find the right "sweet spot" for that works for you.

Hopefully that helps clear that up some for you. If not, let me know!

I've found my weight loss to be a bit slow, especially for as high as my surgery weight was (291.5) on 1/31/18, but I believe it is due to the fact that I lost 57 lbs during the 3 month supervised diet + 3 week pre-op diet. Today I was 270.6lbs.
I'm honestly just telling myself I've lost more weight than I would have without surgery - that's 1-2lbs a week tops. My average is about 3lbs a week, maybe a little more, and I'm really happy about that. Would love to see the scale drop quicker though!

I think it is safe to say that none of us got here without trying diets that we inevitably cheated on and then quit. I am at week seven and I have lost 33lbs. My clothes are getting big and I am starting to see changes. If I wasn't seeing changes, I think I would be having a harder time dealing with my new lifestyle. Now that I can't turn to food, unless I want to suffer, I am starting to realize how much I used food to deal with almost everything from stress to boredom. I know I would have never found the self control to stop abusing food without this surgery. I am so glad that I jumped through all of those hoops to make this possible.

I'm so glad to have this group to relate to!! Today I'm 5 weeks out. I saw my nutritionist yesterday and asked about my (what I perceived as) slower weight loss. She said what they expect is 2-4lbs per week, so I'm right on track at 3lbs and change per week average. I was also told to try to up my calories to at least 600. I'm cleared to advance to a general diet as tolerated. I had 1oz of strawberries with my dinner last night and it was delicious! I was really hoping to be 20+ lbs down by now, but I did lose 50+ lbs in the 4 months prior to surgery.
