Hey! I’m not someone who has gotten it back off, but I am someone who has been working at it for the past week. I am in a similar boat in that I have gained quite a bit and I feel it. It’s horrible. I have more than 40 to lose and was sleeved in 2012. I came back to BP, started back with basics- Protein first, no eating and drinking at meals, and cut the crap. I’ve also been exercising again. I can post weekly updates here if you’d like. Start today. Good luck!

Ok, this is going to sound weird, but it is what it is:
I have found that I have 2 “types” of vomiting: the regular kind, which involves heaving and seems to originate way down low in the belly. Then there is this “new” kind that developed after surgery: it feels more like “overflow”, as if its just stuff sitting near the esophagus and just slips out. Obviously the former is much more difficult and painful, but the latter is almost like burping and stuff comes out (and it feels like it originates way further up).
Now, i dunno if this even makes sense to anyone else but me, but yeah, i find the “original” way of vomiting way, way, harder and energy-comsuming now (if i even can..)
P.S. I was sleeved, and my vomiting ability/inability did not seem to affect my weight loss.

As with every profession, there are those that are at the bottom of the class.
I recall a doctor-mandated consultation with a dietician about 15 years ago. She was extremely fit but weighed about as much as my shadow, and had ZERO frame of reference about what it was like to be overweight, let alone lifelong morbidly obese. I recall her saying "well, maybe the next time have 1 slice of pizza instead of 2!" all satisfied with this glowing wisdom she had just imparted.
I replied "Lady, if the problem was 1 piece of pizza vs. 2, I wouldn't be in the shape I'm in. It's more of a question of 1 PIE or 2." She just couldn't fathom what it was like to be an overeater.
Needless to say, that went nowhere.
My dietician this time around, however, is aces. She too is a diminuitive slender fit women, but the persona is completely different. She asks questions, doesn't try to lecture, tries to find healthier alternatives to fit my lifestyle, food preferences, and cooking capabilities (or lack thereof). She doesn't berate me if I tell her that I've tried certain foods that aren't on the regimen or had something more or less frequent than I am supposed to.
She's not judgmental, so I don't feel the need to hide things from her; I can be candid with the good, bad, and the ugly.
Do you have the option of requesting a different dietician from the same hospital/system?

    I DID IT !
I hit MY weight goal. NOT my surgeon's goal 10 years ago when I started this advent....that was to weigh145 pounds. Then he agreed that having started at 320, (and then 5'3" ) that a more logical goal would be in the area of 160 to 170. The lowest I ever got was 175. And I did not maintain that for even a moment. The the next 8 years of losing my only sibling to the Flu at the age of 49 (please get your flu shot) and then my surviving parent a few years later... personal illness and drama.... and creeping weight gain....
14 months ago at 220 pounds and 63 years old I got my act back together.
I went back to eating Protein - first and foremost - protein, healthy vegetables and fruit, and a smattering of healthy whole grain carbs and healthy fats.
I ate mindfully - and intentionally to fuel my mind and body.
    I ate a treat daily
I slowly changed HOW I eat, what I eat, and when I eat it.
I did not announce it, I did not talk about it. I just did it.
I lost 45 pounds in the past 14 months. Not fast weight loss, but steady
And I may decide to lose a bit more. Or not.
Thank you for being my sounding board. Thank you for being here for support.
Today I am thankful for my sleeve, for saggy baggy hanging skin and not caring. And for being healthy !

For many people, starving (liquid diet for a week) leads to binging. You had your surgery so recently you don't seem to be aware that restrictions go away for many people after a few years out. Please don't give advice that could be harmful.
I'm not sure why you are posting in the veterans room anyway.

I started in 2010 with my sleeve. I was 54 years old. 320 pounds 5’2” - I got. To 175 at my lowest. I gained back 10 right away then another 40 in 10 years. Last summer I decided to lose 20 pounds in a year. I have lost 35. I am not even down to a normal weight by far - but I have gone from. Size plus 28 (at the start 10 years ago) to a 16 petite today. How ? Protein first. Lots of organic veggies, healthy fats, fruit. And some kind of “treat” everyday. I use complex carbs as “sprinkles” - if I am making baked potatoes for the family with dinner I might take a couple tablespoons and sprinkle it over my veggies. I do the same with Pasta -chop it up and sprinkle on the veggies ! Life style changes. I garden and swim. No major exercising. And plan what I take to work. ( essential work in social services )

Yes, the compression is essential to reduce swelling and avoid a seroma - tight is what you want. I had a compression garment and then also an abdominal binder and still developed a seroma near the "T" in my tummy tuck/FDL.
Honestly, my breast lift/aug was more painful than the Tummy Tuck (I pretty much had total reconstruction - my surgeon said mine were in the worst shape he's seen in 22 years and that I have unusually thick/strong pec muscles which made things even harder). Just keep on that pain medication and make sure you are taking a stool softener/laxative. My first BM post-op literally ripped me apart.
It gets easier and easier! At 5.5 weeks PO I'm feeling about 90%, just wake up sore. It'll absolutely be worth it! 😃

Body changes really ARE so challenging to process! I'm down 199 lbs and have already had 1 round of plastics (second in October) but it doesn't solve all the problems. It definitely helps, but I know rather than the copious amounts of loose skin to make me feel uncomfortable and remind me of how large I was, I'll have a TON of scars literally all over my body as a reminder. I am very thankful to be where I am, but it's very hard to see what I've done to my body.

I decided to split my body lift up, so I'll see if I'm glad I did afterwards. If you have any questions about the process or anything I'm here!

I'm 17 months out. Very slow metabolism. I walk 60 minutes and aim for 6 days per week and do some very undisciplined movement/core exercises a couple times per week.
I'm presently working on my Goal #3 of 130lbs. Weight loss is super duper slow these last 20lbs. For me to lose I'm at 650-850 but generally 650-700. I keep it to 1cup volume at meals, aim for 0-1 snack if absolutely necessary and get between 55-60ish grams Protein daily mostly from food.
I maintain easily in a range of 900-1100 with some days back at the low end of 650.

14 months out, I am eating 2650 calories a day which is still 187 calories below my BMR. So I am still losing, just slowing it down because I want to cruise into 250 and stay there.

I have a FDL and it's healing really well. I also had a ton of skin above my navel and a regular TT wouldn't have taken care of it at all. I'm actually having it revised in my next surgery to take more/extend it a little higher as I still have loose skin there even with the first FDL. I can't easily post pics from my work computer, but I can later if that would be helpful.
As far as needing help, I think after a couple days you should really be okay especially without any muscle repair. Just take it very easy.

Ask yourself. Does it SOUND ok to you? Does it sound like you need an extra 200 calories when you're trying to maximize your honeymoon period?
Cuz, that would not be my choice for me. But we're all different and it sure seems like you're losing. So dunno.

Glad to know I should be okay without help after the first couple of days. Pics are helpful if you're willing to share. Thanks!!!
