Good luck on your journey and I hope your recovery is going well . Remember sip sip sip. I had to learn that always having something to drink with you at all times helps you get your fluids in. I had my surgery 8/25/17 two weeks out from my surgery I dealt with bad dehydration.

    Hi Faith8,
I completely agree with Introversion's advice. Everything that you said mirrors my exact situation. I've been fighting Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome for 16 years and there's never been a time in my life where weight loss was easy. I'm sure you also did every fad diet under the sun only to find that you gained the weight back quickly (and more came with it) when you started back on old habits. If you're an over-eater the sleeve will definitely help due to the restriction you will feel once you start eating solid and semi-solid foods again...if you try to overeat you will be physically uncomfortable or may even vomit so it will keep you in "check".

The first couple of weeks are going to be incredibly scary and you may regret your decision....give it some time and be kind to yourself. The surgery you just had is going to change your life for the better even if you can't fathom it right now. I was sleeved on July 17th (13 weeks) and for the first 4 weeks I obsessively Googled, "Will I ever enjoy food again?" about 5 times a day! All of the answers were a resounding yes! For the first month focus on your 64oz Water goals and Protein goals. You're not going to feel like drinking anything so keep the sips small but consistent. My nutritionist recommended drinking bottled water poured into a cup of Sonic ice so I could track how much I was drinking via the empty bottles. The cold water sort of numbed things and I was able to increase my intake each day, though I wasn't consistently making my 64oz-a-day until probably week 4. I also paid dearly for it (constipation, headaches) so don't be like me! My NUT also said I could have watered down light apple juice and it went down incredibly easy but I found it was a trigger food for me so I had to cut it out of my diet.
Speaking of trigger foods and food addiction: please allow yourself to seek help if you think you need it. At 3 months out I can take in about 2x what I could at 1 month and I can feel that little evil voice creeping in and telling me to finish my plate even though I'm full and even if it'll make me a little uncomfortable. I'm planning on seeing a therapist soon because I don't want to sabotage my "honemoon" period and with PCOS my numbers have already slowed down but I'm still losing. Since you've recognized that you have an addiction you may want to start now so you can have the tools to fight the addition if the situation ever arises. I thought my sleeve would take care of my relationship with food and undoubtedly it's helped probably 75% - when the boss brings in warm, gooey donuts on a Friday I can pass right by them and not think twice...when my partner opens a new bag of Dorito's Cooler Ranch, my chip of choice, the smell actually makes me a little nauseated (score!)...but when I have a salmon filet on my plate and I've eaten 2/3 and it was just SO GOOD, I can convince myself to finish the rest. Little things like that will add up to big things when our belly can take in much more food than it can now so tackle it head-on and set yourself up for long-term success.
This surgery is a miracle for us with PCOS because we're so used to breaking our hump only to lose 2lbs in a month. I don't know your numbers but to put it into perspective I started 295 January 10th and lost the same stupid 5lbs until my strict pre-op starting June 24th. I weight 281 on surgery day and weighed 239 this morning. It seems to be a lot slower than other members but I'm happy and looking forward to how my body doesn't hurt as much as it used to, how I sleep so much better, and how my relationship with food was forced to change.
I hope any of this helped and just remember to take great care of yourself. You can always reach out to me if you need anything.

Honestly, I think it has to do with people being jealous or insecure. I genuinely feel that in SOME cases, especially with women, they wouldn't want to compliment you or give you the confidence or make you feel good about yourself because they don't want you to look better or thinner than them. It's really sad honestly.
Someone in my life (a female) weighs a little less than me since my weight loss. She was happy that I was about 30-35 lbs more than her. It made her happy knowing I was bigger than her. But now my weight is going down and she has not asked about surgery, how I"m doing, feeling, etc. She says I cheated and took the easy way out and is getting pissed off because I'm a few lbs away from being the same weight as her now. She doesn't realize I'm struggling on this journey of being on liquids for an entire month and not eating fast food or drinking sodas anymore and having Portion Control and exercising will all contribute to my weight loss...the surgery isn't a magic pill....it gives me the will power and hope I didn't have before.
Eff the people who don't support you or notice you. They want you to stay down, how you were before surgery.
Your light is shining through as your coming into your new skin....just shine and blind em.

    Torrigurll:
My hospital stay was only two days and I felt good, minimum pain. However, my problems started with switching to puree foods. I sort of got sick and the transition was not going well so I switched back to full liquids. that did not go well because I was tired of the Protein Shakes and it became difficult for me to get them down so I made some changes. I switched to Centrum Liquid Multivitamin, Caltrate Bone Health Soft Chews, and I went to http://www.nashuanutrition.com who offers a variety of Liquid Protein choices that provides 15 g of Protein in just 1 oz and is recommended for post surgery patients including Bariatric patients. You should visit their website. I also purchased Glucerna protein shakes which I drink 4 oz every now or then in the morning just to make sure my blood sugar stays intact. Remember, however, I did not make these changes until 3-4 weeks after surgery, and it is working for me. I'm back on track. Another point is bowel movements. my doctor said I was supposed to everyday, but to me that didn't make sense since I'm not eating like that. So don't get upset if you only go every other day, but if you find your stool softeners aren't working, buy Miralax with is excellent because it is gradual and works with your body, easily dissolves in liquid and tastes okay. You'll go a couple of days after taking it. Or, add a little Citrucel to your diet. I use sublingual Vitamins b-12 because sublingual dissolve under the tongue and are easily absorbed into the body so any sublingual you find is a plus and you won't have to be bothered with excess chewing or crushing. Also I did multiple web searches and alternative choice for healthy meals. And if you don't feel like trudging to the gym everyday, try this video by Jane Fonda which assimulates walking a mile every day: Jane Fonda: Walking Cardio Workout : Level 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UabUNrjSE4&index=1&t=25s&list=PLD0BvlGc1FlAXBpGhQNNYx6_v43DArIH8
I hope this helps. Good Luck!

I'm doing well, thanks for asking. Rough first week, nausea and not able to get the necessary hydration. Second week is much better, still supposed to be on full liquids but tried oatmeal this morning and it went down well. Can't wait to actually eat/chew something besides popsicles. How's it going for you?

Want to relate a funny story. Was at a birthday party for the mother of a friend. A mutual acquaintance was there - she is a good friend of the daughter hosting (I'll call her Karen). I've known Karen casually over the course of the last 20 years. I hadn't seen her in about a year as we only see each other when this mutual friend hosts events. She came up to me and introduced herself. I looked at her and said - Karen - it's Diana - we've spent quite a bit of time together. She was completely flabbergasted, turned around and walked away, I guess not knowing what to say.
FWIW, it made me laugh because I never liked the beeotch anyway. It was good to see her embarrass herself. She was always very thin and very critical of anyone with an extra pound on them - she was sure it was because they were lazy.
I don't have time for that kind of negativity in my life.

My surgeon and dietitian both recommended Bariatric Advantage products. I have 500mg calcium chews and a multi Vitamin chewable. I also take Biotin, and omeprazole daily. I really like the products so far. They are a little pricey but nothing like yours. I am fully out of pocket for mine, as insurance will cover nothing it sees as OTC.

Good luck!!! I guess I should be taking a priobiotic daily as well.

The next day I was thinking I don't see how they send anyone home the next day have the sleeve and two days after the bypass. That's just to much pain and what all the body goes through .

Honestly this isn't an easy surgery to go through for anyone.....some heal faster than others and some don't. Some people can get majority of their liquids in and others can't even meet half of their daily intake. It's a mental thing all around. Take longer walks through out the day to get your mind of the pain or just do extra things around the house. If your just moping around then that makes u think more about the negatives. 3 weeks out is a pretty decent time where u should be able to be out and about with friends. And reading your never going to eat your favorite foods again is bs. I know people personally who've had a successful surgery and have dropped over their goal weight and still have cheat days. It's all about you controlling yourself and saying ok I'm full I'm not going to continue eating this. When your able to eat regular foods again, meal prep for the week and then Friday or Saturday have a cheat meal and then get back on your meal prep the next day. Because if you just give up and just binge eat on all the bad foods that got u where u were before the surgery then the surgery was just pointless you know? It's all in your control! Just think of your goal weight and where u want to see yourself! Or even buy an outfit that u want to fit in by next summer and that can be another motivation for u! Don't give up because I'm rooting for you and I know you can do this...be strong for yourself and push through! [emoji1377][emoji171]

Hi Everyone , when I first was filling out paperwork with my surgeon in the beginning he had an agreement that you had to sign. After your surgery you have commit to a year-long of series of appointments. I got a letter in the mail with my year long appointments with my surgeon and my nutritionist. Then it all became real!! I'm having my surgery in the morning 8/25 this has been a long 7 months. Not nervous anymore ready to start my Journey. I've lost 11lbs on my liquid diet. Yay me.
