Your hair will fall out more on low protein! Do clear Protein Drinks maybe ready-made blue raspberry Isopure?
Greek yogurt topped with walnuts. Bone Broth Soup with some onion, celery, bits of chicken. Yes it's a pain to force yourself, but try to get a little more intake.

I agree that you probably have lost inches.
Do your clothes fit a little different??
The first place I actually noticed loss was in my face when I had sleeve surgery almost 3 years ago now.

I think that there is a difference in the restrictive diet post surgery then a diet mainly because of the WHY something is restricted. On a diet it’s a self imposed restriction because you want to lose weight. With the surgery it can can physically hurt you (getting stuck, or uncomfortable digestion). I understand that this probably isn’t the case for forever but personally not having certain things has made me come up with healthier alternatives that make me not want the item I’m substituting for.

Did you have by pass or the sleeve ? I have no problems with it myself and I am pretty sure I waited until 6 months post op.

This is on my mind. I tried it purposefully during a stall once before and it didn't do anything to break the stall (it also didn't cause any Water retention or anything), but I was recently told to up my calories in general and I'm still on the low end (should be 800 to 1000 and I'm at 800-850). I've noticed on the rare day when I get up to 1000 I will post a loss, even if it's small. It does have me wondering if I should be hitting closer to 1000 on a more regular basis. I'm going to try that for a few days.

There's tons of information out there.
DS is the most restrictive. Malabsorption surgery available. High weight loss. High success rates but there's greater chance of Vitamin deficiency and anemia issues.
    Google is your friend!

The way I understand it is; Once the surgery happens you have 6-12months period where you take advantage of the surgery top Get the best possible results in that time frame.
From preop onwards is your time to make the most out of the surgery and not to take it lightly.
People wonder why the lose only a small amount those are the people who think they can just go easy with their diet where you have others who go hard from day 1 to maximise their results..
Think about it carefully the surgery had the most effect for maybe 6 or 12 months then its up to you to maintain not to go back to bad foods not to slack off just because you hit your goal!
Surgery and healthy lifestyle is not a fad it's a life long change.
There's nothing wrong with a small snack once a month maybe but telling someone they can eat whatever they like after surgery to me is IRRESPONSIBLE!

That's very vague Just giving a person who has had issues with food choices free reign post op there needs to be guidelines or you'll end up back where you started and then blame the DR

    Hello,
I Had weight stalls quite often. Your body is just trying to adjust and reset itself. I am 4 pounds from goal, for the last two months😫. However, I just keep doing the right things and I am positive I will hit my goal soon.
Good luck and keep up the good work!

I'm 8 months out and I still can't eat rice. If I really need something to sop up some sauce, i'll use cauliflower rice. Its gross on its own, but good with a sauce.

Prilosec works better than Zantac. Prilosec is a PPI - most docs prescribe a PPI - you can get a 24 hour time release version.
Crystal light and other drinks with citric acid gave me terrible reflux, I had to watch for those additives in the ingredients list - as soon as I stopped them it went away. Also apple cider vinegar diluted in Water everyday helped. But first get it under control before doing the apple cider vinegar and get unfiltered organic. Also do not eat within 3 hours of going to bed and do not take that last bite - overfull.

I have it and if you have reflux you will know, it comes out through the nose and mouth while sleeping and you wake up choking ( this is my experience with it) I take meds for it and don't have that problem anymore, although I still have heartburn and take antacids when I need to. Spicy foods make it worse for me.

Tracyringo reacted to Healthy_life2 in Schedule questioning and when did yo stop losing
I'm five years out. I still lose weight. I have gone under and over my goal weight at times. When I gain, I get it back down by logging my food and staying within my weight loss calories/macros. When does it stop? it stopped by eating my maintenance calories.
I had a gain my third year and worked it back down.
    Some things to try:
To dial in the weight loss calories that work for you, log in an app (myfitnesspal) find where your current calories are. You can dial them up by 100 or down by 100 to find your range.
    Hunger:
Eat small meals. every 3 hours. Don't go over your weight loss calories and macros. Years out, shakes may not keep you full and satisfied. Real whole foods. Dense Protein with items allowed on your plan. All the low cal veggies until full. The bulk and Fiber keeps the sensation of full longer. keep healthy sweet and salty item on hand to satisfy cravings. Night snacking.
a small protein snack before bed Keep a veggie tray in the fridge. Allow yourself to snack on veggies. If you try to bargain with yourself for other options, you know its head hunger. Some threads to check out intermittent fasting thread and the July weight loss challenge for motivation.

I've lost 104 lbs so far. I've got bingo wings and a stomach doughnut and droopy thighs, but they don't chafe or itch, so I don't care.
The only people who see my doughnut are me and Him Indoors, and he couldn't give a stuff. The droopy thighs are only really visible when I go swimming (and only when I walk to the pool) and I'm not narcissistic enough to believe that everyone stops what they're doing to look at me - they're too busy doing their own thing. And the bingo wings are visible whenever I wear short sleeves, but frankly, who gives a damn? The sort of people who would b*tch about it aren't the sort of people I care about anyway.

Tracyringo reacted to Sosewsue61 in Plateau for last 4+ years
Hello. Don't give up on yourself, the issue isn't food - I know it seems like it's food.
It's using food to numb your consciousness to avoid the pain. When you no longer believe that eating will save your life from anxiety, shame, exhaustion, being overwhelmed, being unlovable or lonely you will stop compulsive eating or other compulsive behaviors. You will stop punishing yourself, you will be kind to yourself. Stay connected to your feelings - sit with them without reaching for food. Breathe, cry, yell.... you are NOT the stories you tell yourself, you are not the stories your third grade teacher told you about yourself.... You are worthy, you are not a failure. Today is what you have. You only have to do today.
There is a very good book called 'mindful eating' by Jan Chosen Bays. It teaches you to trust yourself.
Start slowly with one thing. You have time, don't get distracted, let go of the guilt - yesterday is over, completely over. When you fell off your bicycle as a child - did you let it shame you? No. You just practiced more the next time, it did not define who you are. Hang in there. Keep posting.

Tracyringo reacted to GSVguy in Plateau for last 4+ years
I had gastric sleeve in Dec. 2013 after having reached a weight of about 440-450 and everything went according to plan the first 18 months or so.
Since the spring of 2015 or so, I have been stuck in the 285-305 range (I'm 6'3" and 43 yo) and have been unable to get out of that no matter what I try, to the point where emotionally, I am basically back where I was at my highest weight. I can't stand to look at myself in the mirror, and I'm either a) obsessively counting carbs or calories or b) not caring what I eat and engaging in secret compulsive eating (though on a much, much smaller scale—instead of a dozen donuts, I'm going for one or two and not telling my wife or anyone else).
The latest emotional defeat is this: I've spent the last three weeks doing a keto/Atkins-type thing, which was the only thing that ever worked for me before my surgery. Meticulous tracking, urine sticks showing I'm in ketosis, moderate walking exercise, and—here's the catch—a pretty extreme calorie deficit. Most days less than 2k per day, never more than 2,500, and in one four day period, I basically did the surgery prep diet of only Protein Shakes and broth, at about 800-1200 calories.
After all that, I lost 2 pounds, which, when you're 292 pounds, is nothing.
I'm already planning to eat poorly and secretly tomorrow, and I have absolutely no idea what to do. I feel essentially the same way I did before my surgery, though less intense, in that it seems like there's really nothing I can do.
This is driving my wife crazy, and she's unable to understand or emotionally support me. I'm also trying very hard to not go back to some other addictive patterns.
I know the first thing some are going to say is exercise more. I haven't done that lately, and there are two things holding me back on that point. At various periods in the last 4 years, I have done serious, several weeks-long programs with personal trainers in tandem with calorie deficit, and have had literally no success, other than gaining a little muscle, which resulted in a net weight gain. Also, I have some pretty extreme chronic degenerative disc pain, and it's hard to motivate myself to work past that pain when past results from diet and exercise have yielded little to no tangible benefit after great effort.
One other thing that may be a factor: I had my gallbladder removed in 2017, and it had been basically shot since at least fall of 2015. I also had hiatal hernia repair the same time I had the gallbladder out.
To be honest, I'm not really expecting any useful feedback. This may just be what life is for me now. But I had to say it somehow to someone.

people lose at all different rates for all different reasons - starting BMI, gender, age, metabolism rate, whether or not you lost a lot of weight before surgery, etc. I was a slow-loser from the get-go, and I lost all of my excess weight. Your commitment to your program is going to be a MUCH better predictor of your eventual success than your rate of weight loss will. Are you following your plan to a T? Are you weighing/measuring/tracking your food so you know for sure? If so, don't worry - the weight will come off, whether fast or slow. If you aren't doing that, then get back to it. The farther out you get, the easier it is to stray - we have to be diligent - both now and once we hit maintenance.

If I'm creeping up to the top of my maintenance range I try to eat stuff that will very quickly fill me up and keep me full so I can't eat more without feeling sick. Steak is good for this, 4 oz and it's like a rock in my stomach for an hour+, you could also eat a little something that's pretty solid and have a few ounces of Water, that does the same thing - but use extreme caution with this.
You still have the restriction, so you can use it to your advantage by eating stuff that will keep you full so you can't snack. Resetting is a good idea, I don't know that I'd go back to liquids because that will be very hard, but maybe back to just simple Protein and no carbs for a while. The protein will fill you up and after a week of that a lot of the cravings and hungriness should subside a little.
Good to see you on here again and good luck!

I also said “ I will never gain it back” and had a 16 pound gain my third year. (I worked it off) Weight gain can mess with your head. You caught it before it became a major regain. You can get this back down.
Some of us can have a piece of cholate and stop. I know myself, I keep temptation out of the house. Maintaining I indulge within reason.
Some of us do the pouch reset (liquid progression to real food) It’s a good way to restart healthy habits again. Some of us go back to bariatric basics.( Real food stage, Log food and stay within your weight loss calorie/macros, hydrate and exercise) Others change diet plans. (keto, intermittent fasting, vegan etc) Its finding what works for you. Whatever diet you choose; Logging has been the tool that helped me get the weight off.
