Is Dr. Ismael Cabrera the original surgeon you went to or is he the one that quoted you on revision surgery? I don't think Mexico Bariatric Center was around when you originally had your surgery.
I have heard about similar issues from a few patients over the years. There were and still are some bad surgeons, in Mexico and elsewhere. Some were using expired staples and equipment as well.
At least you found out and didn't live not knowing your entire life!

I’m down 32lbs since I started. Went to drs yesterday, she said I’m about 4lbs off from where they would have me, but being a revision and older and a woman I’m doing great. We tweaked my diet alittle and chatted about more exercise. My surgery date was 8-2-17. Hope everyone is doing well

I'm 60 and was sleeved on 8/31. So far I've lost 22lbs. My main objective for the surgery was to get off of as many meds as I could. I wanted to protect my organs long term from the effects of the meds I was taking. The day I left the hospital, Dr discontinued all of my diabetes meds(four total) the next week my BP med dosage was halved and one med of the two meds I was taking for cholesterol was also discontinued. I still need my acid reflux med since I find I still get heart burn despite eating a lot less and eating foods that don't tend to promote heartburn. As for getting my Protein in, Dr. says eat till I get full and don't force yourself. I eat my two ounces of puree and that seems to do it for me. I do three shakes a day with 23 grams per 8oz shake (Matrix made by syntrax) I bought a stackable shake bottle on ebay. It has two compartments. One for the shake mix the other for my pills. I went to the dollar store and bought 2oz containers with lids to portion out my food. I started pureeing everything just to see if I could tolerate the taste. It seems when the food is pureed I tend to like the taste better. Example, I never ate sardines but when I pureed them they tasted better and they are a good source of protein. I couldn't tolerate the taste of the commercial broths so my wife makes mine fresh. She puts the broth in the fridge to let any fat from the chicken used to make the stock harden. She takes that out and the broth is practically fat free and much tastier. I puree the chicken she made the broth with as an added meal. I live in a highrise building and as part of my excercise I walk up the stairs. I'm up to five flights so far each day. Reading the posts of people in our 60's it does seem we lose weight at lesser rate than those that are younger. As long as I can continue to lose the meds (which means my ailments are under control) I'm a happy camper. Good luck and good health to all.

I honestly think I’m not eating enough as well. I started interval workouts again today and everyone went on about how amazing I look so that felt really good since it’s hard to really see when I see myself every day. I’m allowed solids this week and also have been allowed up to 1100 calories but today/yesterday (Monday/Tuesday morning) I only ate about 300 calories and worked off at least that much with a 30 min hard workout + 80 minute dog walk. I’ll most likely have another Protein Shake and snack but that will still be 600 max.

Totally having half an in n out burger Protein style later today though. I’m so excited.

You know, it's kinda funny, but I've had friends lose 30 or 40 lbs and my thinking was "well, maybe they really weren't as heavy as I thought they were." Now that I am 7 weeks post op and have lost about 40 lbs, I don't think people notice it either.
You are heading in the right direction, keep it up!

I felt the same way as if maybe the surgery didn't work for me because I was able to get a lot of liquid and soft foods in. But as soon as I advanced to the stage where I can eat real food I get full super fast. I had turkey breast for dinner and could barely eat 2 oz. I agree with everyone about liquid and soft foods they are easier to get down. I also visited my therapist this week and she introduced me to intuitive eating. I was feeling hungry all the time and couldn't stop thinking about food. But after applying her tips on intuitive eating I realized that I am not actually hungry all the time and I was just so used to eating all the time that my head was still thinking that way. It really helped talking to my therapist. Good luck on your journey.

I'm just over a year post op. Nausea has been a problem since day 1. You will find it is caused by mostly trapped wind in the early days and also lack of energy. I found sipping a warm cup of tea and sucking mints and moving about helped me . Now it is mostly caused by eating too quickly. The best advice I can give is try your very best to learn new eating habits. Drink as much as you can slowly and constantly during the day. And eat slowly and chew everything into a pulp before swallowing. If you are waking feeling sick get up move about and make yourself a warm drink it helps. Then get back into bed.
I year out and I've lost 7 stone. Even with all the odd issues I've had along the way. This op has given me control and my life back. I can now eat a bowl of Cereal for Breakfast . A small sandwich for lunch and a small meal for tea. I can eat most things. I year out and it's about making healthy choices. If I don't I simply gain weight.
I wish you all the best. It's not easy but worth every bit of effort you use to make changes.

The first week was hell for me. I'm now 3 weeks out and it is much better. I'm eating soft foods probably too early but so far ok. It does get easier. I'm hoping it just becomes part of who I am and it doesn't bother me anymore. The weight loss will come. I had a big stall for about 5 days now it is just falling off. You will get there you will e able to eat again in the future but in much smaller portions. Hang in there.

I cook for one every day. I don't eat leftovers and I cook all my meals fresh. I don't meal prep, I hate leftovers and I am not going to punish myself with them. Plus I just won't eat them anyway.
I keep it simple and cook a piece of Protein. Grilled, baked or pan fried. I buy my meat usually a pound or 2 at a time, fresh, with the exception of my grass fed beef which is frozen and some seafood.
I eat raw veggies mostly, baby spinach. I buy a bag or 2 when I buy my meat, I try to eat a bag a day.
I don't make recipes, a waste of time and money. When I do make recipes it is something like pizza that I don't mind eating more than once, or cream cheese pancakes, which are a serving for one anyway,

Buffalo WIld Wings has chicken tenders "naked" (seasoned and grilled). I order 4 Naked Tenders and eat two one meal and two the next. They also have a side salad, if you have room for that. THey have about six sauces to dip the tenders in - I usually get teriaki.

They had my pills crushed in the hospital for had my take a liquid version if possible. My Protonix couldn't be crushed so I had to take it by injection until my 1 week post op when my doc said I could go ahead and swallow it. I now swallow all my pills. I take Levothyroxine for my thyroid and I was actually absorbing to much and have to have my levels adjusted and that was without crushing.

I can tell you what we were told: It depends on the size of the pill. If it's teeny-tiny you can swallow it. Otherwise you should crush them for the first four weeks. After that just swallow them whole.
I don't know if my treatment team was overly cautious or not. I only had to take the PPI which meant opening the capsules and swallowing tasteless little pellets so I didn't really mind it.
Caution: not every pill should be crushed! Ask a pharmacist if you're unsure!
