How long before others noticed your weight loss?
How many pounds did you loose before people started to notice? Did people seem to notice the pounds rapidly coming off? Did they question it? Your response? Sent from my SM-T560NU using BariatricPal mobile app

Weezing cough 3 days before surgery
Get well! Hot tea, prayer, sleep! It's one of my fears, too.

The nine year failed bariatric odyssey continues!
That's my story. If the band was full, I couldn't eat right. Too loose, it was useless. I had it removed a couple of months ago. It was causing me pain at the port site (in addition to being useless). Maybe it was the "complication" that helped with my approval for VSG. JUST got it a few hours ago. January is my date.

Is anyone else buying and trying protein drinks, mixes etc pre-surgery?
I buy this on Amazon. It's good. Not sweet. Sent from my SM-T560NU using BariatricPal mobile app

3 month 1200 calorie pre-op diet for insurance
Struggling. Hungry. If I could do this easily, I wouldn't need this procedure. Sigh. [emoji30]

New to the site
Hi Geri. Removal went fast. I was waking up in recovery after an hour. I feel a bit sore, but it's not too bad. I was sent home with a prescription pain med but haven't really needed it. I'm home from work today but plan on going tomorrow afternoon. I'm so happy to have that thing out. I was having port pain and it just wasn't working for me at all. I had it put in 5 years ago. This is SO MUCH EASIER than when it went in. Sent from my SM-T560NU using BariatricPal mobile app

Geri, your story is nearly my story. My band was removed yesterday. I'm working on insurance requirements. Revision will hopefully be scheduled for November. I haven't committed to sleeve or bypass, but leaning towards the sleeve. Sent from my SM-T560NU using BariatricPal mobile app

Where are all the 50 something bypass patients?
I will be 53 soon. Was banded 7 years ago and it hasn't worked for me.. I had it removed today. Considering revision to sleeve but haven't ruled out bypass. Dr prefers to do as 2 separate procedures to allow healing time. Ok with me. I am working towards requirements for insurance. Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app

Most absurd thing people said to you when you told them you were having WLS?
You're a Mets Fan? phff.
-
To Tell or Not To Tell
Who did you tell that you had WLS? Did you find it helpful that others knew? How supportive were others? I'm considering being open about it in hopes that it keeps me on track and I'll have less explaining to do later.
