Lump in throats after surgery ?

The breathing tube could also irritate your throat.

Lump in throats after surgery ?

I had that and my throat was also sore for a week or so. Now two months out I still feel a bit of a lump bit it's not uncomfortable. I don't usually notice it.

    Treats?

What are your post-op options when you want to treat yourself? I used to get take-out but that doesn't go down well anymore, and I don't dare try my other treat, ice cream and brownies. I'm 5 weeks post-op but interested in further out too. Food ideas but also activities?

    Just cannot eat

I get tired of food quickly, so I'm trying to change it up a lot. Today I had egg salad and ricotta bake type thing with eggplant. I'm also going to try a falafel. I made overnight oats for tomorrow. Some food that were fine were bad the second time. I suggest you just keep trying new things. Allie, that's funny about exercise classes. I just start couch to 5k. Day 1 yesterday. I felt a little sick when I got home but not sure if it was c25k or not. I will try it again tomorrow. I've been on a stall since week 3. Today (first day of week 4), I'm finally down 2 lbs. Yay! Good for you for not weighing yourself--even if it is because you can't. I weigh myself every morning! I'm down 17 since surgery and 29 since I started the liquid diet. My clothes are loose!

    hair loss after surgery

What is everyone doing when their hair is thin? Does it show less with a shorter haircut?

    Just cannot eat

Hi Allie, We have her similar stats and exactly the same sleeve date. I've been having about the same experience with good days and bad days. I had a slice of califlower crust pizza yesterday but then felt sick from my shake later that day. No solutions, but maybe this is normal. I've heard that by 8 weeks things settle down. Also I'm from California! But now in PA.

    what to buy for preop

Zally, I had the same pre-op diet. It was hard! I'm now a month post-op. I think it was good because I lost more weight and got into the habit of a very different diet early. I also had only liquids after surgery for two weeks and that was also hard but this is a major change and it's better to start adjusting early.

    VSG Runners Question

I'm 4 weeks post sleeve and just started back to running today. I took it slow but it felt good!
  9. My husband has been doing almost all the cooking. During the liquid diet he did ALL the cooking. Once I started purees, I started eating with the family again and I also slowly started cooking again.

    Favorite Puréed Foods

Ricotta bake is 8oz ricotta mixed with an egg and spices/ salt. Top with 1/2 marinara and 1/2 cup mozzarella. Bake at 425 for 30 min. My favorite foods on puree are refried beans mixed with salsa and topped with cheese and sour cream. I got a smoothie yesterday with frozen bananas, cacao powder, peanut butter and soy protein.i could only have about 2 oz. But it tastes like ice cream and I have a lot left over. Cottage cheese with pineapple. Theres a brand that sells small containers and they have 19g protein and they're delicious. I blend up whatever my husband makes for dinner-- chili, lentil soup. Mashed potatoes with lots of sour cream and some cheddar. Not so healthy but I can tolerate it. I had palak paneer with raita last night! No rice or bread of course but it was so nice to have a little Indian food. I'm a week into purees and I can have some soft foods too. I'm finding it works best to take it slow and still have lots of soups (Trader Joe's roasted red pepper and tomato is my favorite) and liquids. But this stage feels so much better. I can have some real foods.

In need of some major guidance

Also try beans. I'm vegetarian so my pureed phase will be hummus, black bean soup, refried beans...

    Your feelings on hummus

Depending on the recipe hummus is mostly chickpeas. You can blend your own with just chick peas and lemon juice--yum! Add tahini (more protien) if you want.
  13. I'm about a week post op and I have this feeling too. It doesn't hurt or affect my drinking (no eating yet). I assume it's from the breathing tube scraping my throat and it will heal? It's a very minor feeling so I'm not worried but curious if anyone finds out about it.

    Post Op Liquid

I was on full liquids by day 2 post-op and I got tomato soup in the hospital.

    Any August 2017 Sleevers?

Me too: 1 week post op. I spend all my time fantasizing about pureed food next week. I know my stomach can't handle it sooner buts it's really hard to wait.
