PrayingForWeightLoss got a reaction from Sherry Rice in Is anyone else buying and trying protein drinks, mixes etc pre-surgery?
BunnyJean just consider not pre buying a lot of drinks. Your taste may change after surgery. Mine did. I loved the Optifast strawberry shake preop but after the sleeve, I would rather starve than drink that if it was my only choice. I have heard other people here say the same. I must commend you though for your thorough research on the drinks. Hope all goes well with your surgery.

Pyjama bottoms definitely. As we all know, hospital gowns are business in the front party at the back. You will need to wear a pair when you start walking off the gas on the ward.

Personally, it has never been an option for me to publicly discuss my private health problems including weight loss surgery. Your husband might be one of those people who feel the same way. I have known patients who do not want to tell anyone that they have a diagnosis of depression for example. If someone asks why they look sad, they do not feel the need to say, "I have been diagnosed with depression and I am taking antidepressants for it." Should they elect not to divulge their diagnosis and treatment, that is not a lie. If taking power walks is not an optional answer, you can choose to say you have changed a lot of things in your life to get healthier. That's not a lie.
However, if you strongly feel that you want to share, that's your choice and maybe you could have further discussions with your husband and let him know how your feel about the issue. Ultimately it is your body, your choice.
Some have come to decisions to not share because of what life has taught us. It obviously doesn't apply to everyone. Hope your surgery goes well.

This is the reason I only told my husband and no one else. Some people are so judgemental. I worked with someone who had bariatric surveys way before I did and saw how she was treated and talked about. I learned my lesson then.

Killian I second what you said 100%. Only my husband knows. Like you, I did not want to be a topic of discussion at all times. I also work with some very opinionated women. You should have seen them when I drank an Optifast shake in their presence during my preop! All hell broke loose because they only saw me drinking 1 shake. I ended up having my shakes in my office for the duration I was required to. I can only imagine how much I would have been bombarded with "expert" advice had I shared with them I was getting sleeved. I might have had to move countries to get away from them.

8 weeks post op. Haven't cheated a day. Too scared to mess things up again. I failed on so many diets before through my own fault. I am very good at self sabotaging. This time I am sticking to the book.

On behalf of the medical community in general, I would like to apoligize for how you were treated. That is one of the worst ways to deliver test results to a patient. In any case, these results could point to other things not necessarily cancer. A CBC alone cannot be used to absolutely conclude the presence of cancer. This doctor has no beside manner. So sorry for this treatment you received. Change doctors.

Love Pink you ere beautiful! Totally understand where you are coming from. I have very pictures of myself in the last 3 years because I kept ballooning. Finally got sleeves in July 2017. I have lost about 35lbs but I am still not comfortable with pictures. Yesterday my daughter took a picture of me and I cannot believe how different I look now. I can only say to you, it gets better. I still have a long way to go too so I understand.

I am about 8 weeks post op. I have struggled with my weight for many years. I started thinking about WLS a few years ago and I talked myself out if it because I thought I could lose through dieting. For the past 5 years, I have spent so much money on different programs, fad diets and endless meetings. All this time, my weight kept going up. The final aha moment for me was when I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic. It was then that I realized I need effective treatment for obesity. Like most people, my biggest regret was not getting sleeved sooner. But then again, I think I needed to hit rock bottom to appear irate this tool. I have lost about 30lbs so far by just following the program to the T. I did not even look at the band when I was seeking treatment. Just didn't want the idea of a foreign object in my body that is movable.

Sue, you are not old. This is you taking care of your body and choosing to be healthy. There are no age limits to that.
275 is too long a drive even after a minor surgery let alone this surgery. The suggestion to book into a motel for a few days seems reasonable I think until you are stronger. It will also give you time to be near your surgeon for a few days in case some unforeseen event come up right after the procedure. Hope all goes well for you.

I was on full liquids in phase 1 and could have Soups as long as it was completely chunk free.

Follow the instructions and phases that your doctor and dietitian prescribe. There is a good reason you can't eat certain foods before a certain time. Sip sip on your Water. Dehydration is a serious risk.

I am a clinician and am bound by very strict confidentiality laws. That person should be too. It is a gross violation of professionalism if they divulge your medical information. Your body, your choice. Personally, I chose not to publicize my WLS. I had a hysterectomy a few years ago and I chose not to share either. Over the years, I have had a urinary tract infection, a yeast infection and got a tooth extracted. Again I chose not to share. I just believe my medical information is private. It is your choice and don't feel pressured by anybody to divulge.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!! Sorry that Dr Google has wrecked such a joyous moment for you. I am a clinician but certainly do not specialize in prenatal areas. There is so much we don't know about what causes autism. There are several studies out there still in progress. As we all know, Dr Google is never short of answers on anything and it can be hard to sift through to decipher what is credible and what is not. I would strongly suggest you wait until you talk to the doctor and dietitian on Monday to get evidence based advice. Hope all goes well! Congratulations again !!!!

I did full liquids from 3 days post op for 2 weeks, 2 weeks purée, then 4 weeks soft foods. I just started normal but I am still going for mostly softer foods. Some "normal" foods are getting stuck in my chest area.
