Missy161 got a reaction from sheliss in Finding Happiness
I kind of disagree- I have loved my house, I've loved a job, I've loved riding my bike. I love to eat , but I'm not a binger. I feel like we should enjoy our basic needs just not to excess. Does that make sense?
I still love finding good things to eat. I'm just satisfied with a small portion.
    I hear you though...
....But who doesn't love a good poop! Lol

I just saw an article on this topic written by a surgeon.
It said to avoid liquids before and after you eat- 30 min to an hour after, 30 min before.
It also said if you eat a larger meal make sure the following meal is small- it said the stomach is used to stretching and contracting so you don't want to constantly put more in than you should- one time won't do lasting damage, but continued it will get used to the stretched size.
My surgeon said that after surgery it is the size of a straw or pen but a year out it is the size of a banana.
I agree- don't test the limits. Keep portions small and chew, chew.
That's my plan. I'm only 6.5 weeks out so I'm not an expert. I rely on my professionals.

Chew chew chew! It's hard to remember to slow down and chew thoroughly but it really helps prevent the pain.

I agree with everyone, you are so strong and brave and amazing. And also you're gorgeous girl! I haven't had my surgery yet but ive been overweight my whole life as has most of my family. I hadn't really thought about what my reaction would be to more attention. Thank you for opening your heart like that and inspiring all of us. You are human and slip-ups & fear are normal. I love your non scale victorues at the amusement park, what a celebration of all you've done. I can't wait to be able to fit into airline seats, that's linned to my vision board (an idea I got from my supoort group). I go to two different support groups which I find nice that I have one every couple weeks and am getting a therapist. So happy for you and this new life you get to lead. Please keep posting, would love to follow you on this journey.

I just have to say that you inspired me. I also have had a couple of self inflicted stalls from a bad couple days here and there, and have also allowed the what ifs to bother me. Just, wow. You look amazing and I think you will be happy once you hit your goal.

I have fear like that too. Both times I was assaulted, I was smaller. My plan is to take self defense classes. Maybe you could take up something that makes you feel strong?

You are amazing. Your honesty is refreshing b/c we all have a fear of our new life in our new bodies. But you owned that feeling, the self sabotage, and getting back up. You rock and I wish you continued success.

    You doing so great.
I believe you figured it out. When you are obese, people don't see you. You are invisible , and when you are not, you try to make yourself invisible. I was at goal before, and it was hard because i didn't know how to handle people paying compliments and or guys paying attention to me. Its so much harder to hide. I wasn't obese all my life, so i can't imagine how difficult this is for you to adjust too. I think you really could use a local support group if possible.
But don't let that fear and attention stop you, you got this. Keep going!

I think it's interesting that your surgeon wants you to get to a size 10-12. I just had a conversation with my surgery team at my 6 month follow up where they told me that getting to my goal (shopping in regular stores size 12/14) may be unrealistic... Keep in mind I started at a size 20W, kill myself at the gym 5 days a week and stick to the eating plan religiously. I share this just to show you how far you've come and how different doctors have VERY different expectations of their patients.

I say you are doing an amazing, stupendous, completely wonderful job!!! If I were you I'd keep going until my body felt like it's where it wants to be. Then I'd convince my surgeon to finish the plastics.

Definitely go to a store to be measured. My daughter is a 34 G waiting for a reduction to be approved. We went to Soma. They were wonderful. They didn't have a bra that would fit her though in the store. But they measured and then brought her all of the styles in her size. I think you will be surprised.

I was sleeved June 5th, so i am on my 10th week this week. The first two weeks i lost 18 lbs but the 8 weeks since then have been ssslllloooowwwww! I go between 30-32 lbs down. Eating is kind of like torture.. I am lucky if I get 4oz a meal, then i get really full and uncomfortable. I guess I am doing something wrong... probably because I am not exercising. After work I have no energy - but I try to walk as much as I can. I get my Vitamins in because i have the patch so it is easy for me. I do pretty good with my Protein intake but Water isnt as easy. Just very discouraged these days when you see no results AND cant eat... oh.. starting weight 244 current weight 214

Lima beans? Her choice of food is just as lame as she is. Let her watch you shrink to goal weight and continue to be bitter. Unhappy people try to make other people unhappy. Stay positive and keep being awesome. ️

I've yet to finish the pizza, but yes, I could if I spent enough time trying. There was a period when I just didn't eat anything "bad," with bad defined as things I can't control myself around. I'm not sure if that is ever sustainable, but neither have I found the ability to have a little bit without craving more. Bored? Eat. Sad? Eat. Happy? Eat. Busy? Eat.

It is all about the mental ability to stop yourself, because your brain is so much better at giving you permission.
