Frankette got a reaction from GreenTealael in Slow WL
My surgeon seemed disappointed in my loss at 3 weeks (16lbs) and said I should be under 200 by the time I go in for 6 week check in. Well tomorrow is my 6 week and I'm at 204. Im prepared for him to be dissapointed again but I am thrilled with 21lbs gone in 6 weeks. I've not been this weight in 6 years. I've not been cleared for gym yet so Im assuming that when I can exercise normally the weight will go faster. I feel like as long as I am doing what doc says and losing ... although slowly I'm happy.

I was sleeved 12/4/17. I've lost 55lbs post surgery.(18lbs preop from highest weight) I have about 25lbs I'd like to lose but my surgeon said if I didnt lose another pound he would be happy with me. I am still going to try anyway to lose the last bit of weight anyway. I am living my best life this summer. Wearing a bathing suit in public doesn't scare me anymore.

Frankette got a reaction from Frustr8 in What are you eating for breakfast, lunch? Lost.
Yes, you are correct in that most of us do the Protein Shake for breakfast. I am 6 months out at this point. I mix mine with coffee in the a.m. I feel like my stomach is smallest in the morning so actual foods is a turn off because I get stuffed after 2 bites. Protein coffee fills me up gradually from 6 am to 7 am and lets me hit half of my protein goals for the day early on.
lunch and dinner are usually the same meal because I like to meal prep in the beginning of the week to relieve the Whats for lunch/dinner decisions. I don't mind eating the same thing all week. I've found this amazing recipe for ground turkey and green Beans that I eat 2 weeks out of the month. It's spicy, filling and I haven't gotten tired of it. I also eat this shrimp and broccoli meal in rotation. Now that it is getting warmer out I will use my grill to do some chicken and veggies for the week. Search pinterest for some Keto inspired meals. I don't do full keto but the recipes are great inspiration.

"I feel extremely hungry ALL the time! I feel like I have no restriction. Also I’ve been eating junk food with no problems"
That is the issue right there. Carbs and sugar begets carbs and sugar. The more you eat, the more you crave and the more "hungry" you feel. You're probably eating a lot of "slider" foods, also, which can be eaten and broken down easier in our sleeves so we can eat much more of it. chips, popcorn, Cookies, and crackers are some examples of slider foods. I'd be willing to bet you can't eat over 3 or 4 oz of chicken breast, though.
I would start over with just Protein, protein, protein. Anything your heart desires. Steak, burgers (no bun) bacon....the sky's the limit! As much fat as you want. Full fat butter, nuts, cheese, etc. Kick the sugar and white carbs. When you get a hankering to snack, keep a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store and pick on that. Protein and fat keeps us satisfied longer, and that's why it's highly recommended for WLS patients. Its dense, so we can't eat as much and keeps us satiated longer.
Also, have you thought about therapy for help with your issues with food?

Im 5.5 months out and need to make good food choices every day. The hunger is coming back finally. I didn't miss it while it was gone. The sleeve is a tool. It is up to you to decide to use it. You just need to go back to basics and eat Protein and veggies. If you are struggling with willpower then maybe talking to therapist to figure out your food issues could be a good thing. You can do this. Don't let food control you.

Frankette reacted to Creekimp13 in 20 years of Lies
For 20 years, I dieted, and lied to myself.
Went back and forth between two extremes. You might be familiar with them.
One was called....Screw it, you're fat, so what? I drank a two liter of Pepsi daily, loved bread, french fries, chicken tenders, and chocolate turtle ice cream pie. I also love food that was good for me. And food that had sprinkles. And grease. And sugar. And anything hot out of an oven. And....well, you get the picture. My husband laughed at me for putting excess bacon on my veggie burgers.
The other me was....The Fitness Nazi. I was the autistic savant of calorie counting. Like Rain man, I could look at a deconstructed plate of stuff and guess calories with the accuracy of a food scientist. I was all about counting my grapes, going from one fad diet to the next. This time, I'm going to find the answer to fast weight loss. Must be thin. Not healthy. Not strong. Thin. And I'd like to be thin as fast as possible, please. Need to go to the gym. I hate the gym. Go anyway, you're fat, you must repent and be punished by the gym to be excused of your sin of fattness. Must never again eat anything white, or carb, or that casts a shadow. I'm a perfectionist, dammit. I can DO THIS!
Speaking of Fatness. Remember The Hunger Games? I went to a costume party last year as the fat version of Katniss Everdeen: Fatness NeverLean. My flaming dress had porkchops on it.
For 20 years...I went back and forth between two lies. I'm not either of these people.
I'm not in denial about how bad obesity is for your health. I care. But I'm not a Fitness Nazi either. I don't care about being thin.
For me...I needed to make peace with food, not fight a war against it. And man, sometimes if feels like that's all we do. Just endlessly battle. I'm tried, man. Just really tired of the war.
What helped me the most...is escaping an extremist mindset.
    I'm tired of extremes.
I don't want to binge on crap anymore. Screw that self destructive nonsense.
I also don't want to starve anymore or eat "healthy" things I HATE. Screw that self destructive nonsense, too.
I don't want to eat stuff I don't like..."because it's good for me." I want to eat stuff that I DO like that's good for me. Sometimes those things are hard to find! But they're out there. They're worth finding and taking the extra effort to make.
I'm tired of lying to myself. 20 years of dieting lies...up, down, up down. What's the point? I don't want to be either of those two people, I just kept running from both of them.
I had to find balance. I had to love my life, love my diet, love my self enough to stop the self abuse of both extremes. I HATE the fat binger. I HATE the thin fitness nazi.
Finding the plan that works for the individual is tough. And it's gonna be different for everyone. It's not one size fits all. (nothing one size fits all works for me...lol)
If I were doing low carb and crazy low calories, I'd probably shoot myself or others. I feel horrible on that plan...and I know from experience that I'll crash and burn on it eventually. It works great for some folks....but I'm not one of them.
These days I'm working on being really really honest with myself. I'm picking things for my diet on a new criteria...Do I genuinely like eating this? Is it good nutrition? Can it fit in a balanced day of healthy eating?
When I exercise, I don't think about how many calories it burns anymore, or how long I have to do it, or what gets me the most burn in the least time. I think....Do I enjoy doing this? Do I look forward to it, or dread it? Can I do this with a friend for support and have a good time?
I want to love my new life.
I want a Forever diet that I love.
I want a Forever exercise plan that I love.
    I want balance.
I'm done with immediacy and urgency and extremes.
I'm losing weight slow and steady. If I lose 3-5 pounds a month, I am so happy with that. I didn't put all this weight on in a few months, I'm not gonna lose it in a few months.
They say you'll lose weight for 18 months or so after surgery. I've got 16 months to go. If I lose 2-3 pounds a month, I'll make my goal. I'm in no hurry, because I'm working on my forever diet that I can love and live with.......not my "until I'm skinny" punishment diet.
Sometimes I really think the key to this whole mess is finding a way to be honest with yourself...resolve the two extremes and find the middle ground.
Just some thoughts. Take what ya like, and leave the rest:)

You fit in a size 18! I havent been in 18s since 1998! Finally out of the 20s! I was probably about a size 28, or even 30! For once I went to the clothing closet at my weight management center, and everything I got fits except for 1 dress! Usually i am able to wear 1 or 2 items! I did also get a vs nightshirt and a LLR Randy style shirt. I got a dress for Easter. The top doesnt fit! I dont think my boobs would ever fit! A very successful day!

I'd talk through it with the surgeon. I used to have acid relfux a lot (though wasn't medicated for it). They said that by fixing the hiatal hernia during surgery I'd be less likely to have it even though a sleeve can make it worse. Turns out they were 100% right, no reflux at all now. Worst case if you have it and the hernia fix won't solve it then you can still do a bypass, which solves reflux totally, which is nice.

Frankette got a reaction from Creekimp13 in How would you rate the ease/difficulty of your first week after surgery?
I want to say 9. My surgery was great no complications but I woke up vomiting from the tube ( at least that's what I heard the nurses say in my haze as I was spewing foam.) I also had a bad reaction to the morphine they kept pumping into me all day after surgery. It made me dry heave and have stomach spasms that was so painful. After they figured out morphine was a no no at midnight I was 100% changed woman. I got up and walked around which release my gas pressure in my shoulder etc. My recovery went amazing after that .. every day getting better and better. If it wasn't for the issues after surgery that first day I swear it probably would have been a breeze.

I'm almost a year and a half post op and still get sick with chewable and swallow Vitamins. My suggestion is to find a multi liquid vitamin...they taste awful but never seem to make me sick to my stomach. I also take gummies. I know some docs don't like them but my levels have all been great when blood tests are run. Good luck! Hope you find the one that works best for you!

The Premier Protein caramel with coffee is the only way I can drink the shakes. Caramel is the only flavor I can handle the taste of and the coffee cuts the sweet down so I can drink it. I have a caffeinated coffee shake in the morning and a Decaf shake in the evening to meet my Protein goals.
