Oh, one more thing. I didn't really have much trouble with the stairs. I just took it slow.

    Hi,
I was glad that I had someone around. I mostly stayed upstairs. We have a mini-fridge in our bedroom, so that's nice. However, I needed help getting warm foods and such. Also, I was a bit afraid to be alone. (I have a deathly fear of vomiting.) You'll probably be okay after a few days, but you may want someone to at least check on you. I had my surgery on a Tuesday, got out on Thursday, and went on a major cleaning spree in the middle of the night between Sunday and Monday. So, there's that. (In addition to the DS, I had my gall bladder removed and my hiatal hernia repaired.)

I take Zyrtec daily and it really helps with itching. If I don't take it, I get hives. I'm sensitive to adhesives, too, but it wasn't too bad for the first 20 hours or so after a Zyrtec.

Definitely see a GI doc. You may have an extra long large intestine that is removing too much Water. (It can happen!)

I'm almost 5 years out from revision of Rny to ds.. anything high in fat or sugar gets me. I've been at goal a few years but I bounce around 5/7 lbs. when I hit that high side I usually eat buttered popcorn or a few Cookies. Gets things moving for me. You are still recovering though.. dr advice might be wise.

I haven't had a blood work yet, but I've been on the same dose of synthroid. I crushed for the first week or two and then started swallowing them. Mine are pretty tiny.

Did you have a DS? I've been told two days overnight in the hospital, which seems consistent with what I've read. I'm shocked to hear you were discharged the same day and drove yourself home! My hospital requires a responsible adult pick you up on discharge.

While it is laparoscopic, I certainly would not describe this as a minor procedure and nothing I've read indicates the norm is less than 60 minutes. My doctor says an hour and a half to two hours surgery.

I'm curious if we are talking different procedures or if practices are just that variant.

@cjsunshine Gee, I don't know. You're right, no straws to begin with. But I never thought about a squeeze bottle. I'd suggest you ask Sharon.

So, have you tried the Isopure drinks? They are 20 oz bottles that come in several flavors. I tried the melon apple and loved it; the pineapple banana something or other was pretty good; the passion fruit and blue stuff were NOT good (IMHO). That apple melon seems like a great way to get Protein, but it's like $4.25 a bottle.

I have three more days of full liquids, unless something bad happens when I see the doctor. I am very tired of them. I've never tolerated meal shakes well. All of the Protein I've chosen is supposedly lactose free, but I feel as if I've been drinking milk and my body has never liked that. Also, I really want to drink some Water, not sip it. I'm thirsty! So, I'm very excited about puree day and keep telling my husband what I want! Of course a quarter cup two or three times a day will probably feel limited to my hungry brain, but I think my stomach will like it!
Like NIkkiWorldJourney, I'm surprised that people are eating solids so soon. I do NOT want to screw this up...for me. This is my last ditch effort. If I don't lose the weight now, I never will.
Back when I was 21, I had jaw surgery and was wired shut for about six weeks. I had so survive on Carnation Instant Breakfast Drink. I think that's why I find these shakes so hard to tolerate, but I'll get through it.

If you think you're not losing fast enough, talk to your doctor. My reaction to these questions is always a bit of amazement: without the WLS, can you imagine any possible way you would have lost so much in that time period? I think you're doing FANTASTIC!!

I am feeling the same way but powering through. I'm honestly shocked by those that are sneaking a few bites. I am so terrified of a leak that I don't dare. That is why my Dr and Nut said to stay away from anything more for a few more weeks. Looking forward to moving onto puréed foods next week. I figure if I'm willing to do this drastic of a surgery to my body, then by god I am sticking to the plan. It's just a mental game anyway. Stay strong!

I think the hospital blocked 3 hours for me. In addition to DS, I'll have my gallbladder removed and hiatal hernia repaired. I had my pre-op appointment today at the hospital and the bariatric nurse told me that I should be in a room by 11:30 or 12:00. (Surgery is scheduled for 7:30.) In other words, who knows?

    Hey all!
How do you and your doctors pronounce 'duodenal'? My surgeon says 'doo-uh-DEE-null," so that's what I say, but I hear a ton of people at my other appointments say 'doo-wODD-null.' Just wondering what the majority is! :-)

@Kristen0912 You can do this. From your photo, I'm assuming you are way younger than I am and that will make it easier. I am 55. I have two teenage daughters - one headed to college in the fall, the other into high school.
I was scared &$%!less, but I knew I had to do something. I had been struggling with my weight for my entire life. Think about new sports you want to try. I just started fencing -- as in en garde - stabbing people with a weapon - fencing. I tried running - hated it. I still work out regularly in the gym, but I love fencing. As in, 4-5 hours a week. Last night, 2.5 hours for 1308 calories. I was sweaty. I didn't smell nice. My face was red. But boy did I feel good.
You know what else feels good. Size 10 jeans. The one's I'm wearing right now. Versus the size 22s I was in this time last year and busting out of.
Keep repeating - You are fierce. You are Fearless. You can do this.
