My last pre-op visit, a week before my surgery, I was told the stretching was a myth. It doesn't get bigger in size.

8 months post-surgery, 150lbs+ lost, and celebrating life this summer, I finally bought the car I've wanted since I was a fat, poor, 18 year old... a Miata.

My "excuse" is that my son is getting his permit in December and I really want him to learn to drive a stick (our other cars are autos). Miata's are now very cheap used cars, though deeply impractical in the most delicious way possible. We're stoked.
    What have you done to

Hi everyone! My name is Tim, I'm 40yo and single. As of this time, I was released from the hospital 7hrs ago after my VSG. This has been a 2yr process for me. I had my surgery at the Cleveland Clinic and Dr. Philip Schauer was my surgeon. Because of my thick neck, they had to put the airway tube in before I was put under. This was quite the traumatizing experience as I was already regretting my decision. I'm still suffering from the usual issues, bloating from the gas and pain. My brother had the RNY done about 10yrs ago and has done wonderful. I decided I've wasted too much of my life and missed out on so much being self-conscious about my weight that it was time to do something before it was too late.
I wish everyone the best of luck in their journey.

I woke up from surgery not regretting a thing (Think because I was given pain meds when I was asleep on the way to recovery room) I was there for 3 hours total even when I was okay. I had to pee, but I wanted to wait until I had gotten my room, because I was not used to the idea of a bed pan. I found out the incision near my belly button started bleeding a bit even after being glued. But it got patched, which is good. Overall, I was happy for a short time until I got into my room. I got pretty emotional and started crying when my fiancé wouldn't answer his phone, I called 20 times because I wanted him here with me. He ended up coming two hours later.
Just tonight, I walked 5 times, the two times I got up to walk, I walked 2 laps, and then just one an hour later because gas pain was getting pretty bad (I had not passed gas all today.) the pain was a 7, so I was just given pain meds to help me sleep. So far the pressure of the gas is still there, but the pain is a 2-3.
The nurses are so nice. My highest weight was 360, today my surgery weight is 337. My goal is 160, and my height is 5'7 1/2.
Overall, today was good. I was not nervous, I was calm. I woke up high and yelling "Hey you!" To a nurse and telling her how pretty she is.
    Here I am.
I just wanted to tell my experience from yesterday. I get discharged this late morning.

    Hi guys!
I get on here every six months or so to update y'all I've never made a topic with progress pictures before, so I thought I would this time, as I've been maintaining below goal for almost a year now.
    SW: 323
    CW: 153
    Size 24/26 to a 4/6
    No skin removal
I ran my first half marathon in February and am running another in November, which is pretty cool! When not in race training mode, I run 3-6 miles, three days per week, and do HIIT style training (heavy weights and cardio) at the gym 2-3 other days per week. I tend to fluctuate between 150-153 lbs, depending on the time of month and just general day to day food/water intake.

After all this time, and all this work, I still love my sleeve even with everything that comes with it. I am still amazed at how my body cyclically and periodically continues to drop weight. I never dreamed that I would lose this much. I have left my stretch goal in the dust, because when I started it seemed unlikely I would ever reach it anyway even though it would still be considered 60 pounds overweight. I am now well beneath that and I am continuing. Here is a picture of before and present.

    Well, here goes. (huuuuuge breath)
I'm a 48 year old, twice-denied VGS candidate. I was finally approved by Ins 2 weeks ago, and have my all-day clinical (labs, etc.) on June 22, when We'll set Sx date. Until then, I'm putting my voracious research since 2003 to good use! I'm a poster child for antidepressants, and gained 200 lbs in about 3 years. My Max was 365 in 2003, and I've been floating between 330-345 for the last 2 years.
I have been actively incorporating the diet plan that I've been recommended for post-op, solid foods. Protein first, then veg, then a tiny amount of carb - and seeing positives in just 2 weeks. WHEW!! This means I truly AM ready to do this!!!
I can't thank ALL of you enough for sharing the good, bad, and downright nitty-gritty! All information is appreciated! I will continue to feed my head in the meantime, as I cultivate this new relationship with myself, body and soul. And, of course, update!!!

I am a 48 year old retired vet, married, and working on my second career. My surgery date is tomorrow (5/31/17). I have so many mixed emotions right now, but mostly very excited! Let the journey begin!!! I always thought it was ridiculous when people use the word 'journey.' Anyway..
I started this journey (dang, there I go again!) about a year ago but got delayed due to a lil bit of cancer. But, had it not been for that, I would be months post-op by now. The process was easy, as was dealing with Tricare. The only delay was that stupid cancer! Once I was cleared for WLS surgery by all my docs my surgeon's staff sent off to Tricare and I was approved and scheduled for surgery within the week!
So, here I am now. I am concerned about how I will be feeling post-op, but focus how I will be feeling once I get rid of this extra person I've been dragging around. I want to lose 108 pounds. I look forward to doing things I used to do like...tying my own damned shoes!
My husband of seven years is super supportive and is looking forward to my surgery as well...since we have been married, he has put on a little bit of weight; I am a dang good cook. He's one of 'those' people who can drop weight just thinking about it! But, he looks forward to me not cooking as I normally do so he can drop his extra weight. I LOVE food and enjoy cooking; which is also one of the things I will miss. I think I will still cook; I will miss eating it. I just need to focus on cooking the healthy crap...I mean, food! .
I am confident in my ability to lose this person (we'll call her Shelly) and can't wait until 0530, 5/31/17!!!

Hello, I guess this is my introduction to the forum.
I'm a 46 Y/O guy, about to go in for a revision to my RNY that was done a while back (exact date when I remember...)
My new date is this coming Tuesday, May 30th, 2017.
My first surgery was somewhat successful, but I guess I got tired of the restrictions and requirements after a while, and I started cheating more and more in my diet.
I dropped down to around 300 lbs after starting at 618, my heaviest.
A few years ago I had an accident, where I was left in a lot of pain, and since I didn't have insurance I left it go untreated, and that was the beginning of my weight gain, to where I'm now, 504 lbs as of last Monday.
Well, here I am, not as excited as the first time, and not scared either, more of a feeling of "whatever".
Now, don't get me wrong, I will make it work, it's not as fun being fat and 46, like it was being fat and 30.
Anyway, I'm an open book, ask away if you have any Q's, and I'm looking fwd to learning from ya'lls successes and mistakes, especially now that I found a forum dedicated to guy's issues, because my first time around, it was mostly ladies, with very few guys, and most of those guys were young.
    Best Regards.
