niseys4 got a reaction from FluffyChix in Stevia....yay or nay?
Hello Everyone! Im only 7 wks post op & i tried liquid & powdered stevia, both tasted awful to me & would have a terrible after taste! Then I read about all natural Monk Fruit. It comes in powder form either in packet or in a bag like cane sugar! It has a wonderful sweet taste with no after taste. Only problem is that so far I can only find it in Sprouts farmers market!

niseys4 reacted to dreamingsmall in Not buying new clothes till at goal.
    Is this realistic?
I hate waisting money. And I used to buy new clothes as my weight went up and down.
Now I feel I'll deal with looking abit ugly in baggy clothes till I'm at goal. Because when I'm slim I really want a style overhall clothes that I'm not confident to wear now. So I wanted to wait.

I'm in the 200s is it possible to wait till I'm 135lbs to buy new clothes??

Am I the only one who feels this way ?
Right now I'm just a leggins and dress girl. I want to go back to my skinny jeans at 135 lbs I hope lol

You do not look sickly at all, you look absolutely beautiful! What's more important is how you are feeling. I started getting a lot of negativity from family and "friends" about losing too much weight, tbh I think they're just having trouble adjusting to my changes. The only people who's opinions really matter are you and your doctor. Keep up with what makes you feel good about your body, and dont let other people bring you down. You are gorgeous!

We have very similar starting stats, but I have one less kid! I was sleeved on 7/10/17 and was VERY nervous in the weeks leading up to surgery. What got me through was always focusing on the next step and being very prepared. I made all kinds of lists and wrote out all of my goals. Just over two months out I am down 52.4 since the start of my two week pre op diet and I could not be more pleased. Just keep in mind that the anxiety, discomfort, and pain will be temporary, but the sleeve is a tool that will last a life time. You will be so happy you did it!

I prayed a lot. I really never felt nervous b/c I had prayed so much and just felt Gods presence throughout my journey. Everything went so smooth with my journey leading up to it. I just knew it was a God thing. It sounds like the same thing for you. You are going to do great. I pray that you have a fast and easy recovery.

Hello jdsrra! My Dr is Fedorka with Fontana Kaiser! Who was yours?

So Im not to nervious just anxious to continue with my weight loss journey!
What's also encouraging is that after 40 some years my Hubby called me by the nick name he gave me when we first started dating!![emoji1]

I wasn't going to have the surgery because I was losing weight naturally since attending the Healthy Balance class Givin by Kaiser. But when I saw the Bariatric Dr ( NOT the surgeon) he explained to me how my diabetes can get worse the longer I have it an that having the surgery can cause my diabetes to go into remission. He used a very sensible illustration of termites being confined in 1 part of my house & how I may be okay with that and not being willing to pay the money to get rid of them. But what if of those termites started to move out from that spot? Now you will have to pay more money than you would have if you would've takin care of it when it was just a small area that was infected. He helped me to appreciate that I should focus more on the health benefits of the surgery than the weight loss part!

Hello! First of all sorry your having BM problems! Im going on 4 wks post op & i too have not taken my metform since the day b4 my surgery! Like many others I use Milk of Magnesium & Dulcolax Pink. For me the Dulcolax is a bit harse. But you know what has help me for years to a BM was simply drinking my 16oz of Folger Decaf coffee with international Creamer every morning!
Im also one of a few who has no problem drinking my Water except it has to be flavored because for some reason plain bottled water hurts my stomach. With it flavored I can drink up too 48 oz a day when I time it right.
For the coffee have you heard of Rocket Fuel or Bullet Coffee? Its basically hot decaf coffee with Protein Powder mixed in it along with other ingredients. You can find the recipe on Pinterest.
As to the straining, as mention earlier is not a good idea cause you dont want to pop a staple or cause a leakage!
My Dr told me that once I started to eat (I took it to also mean soft pureed food too) is when I can add Benefiber & start taking my Probiotics again. I use the Healthy Shape Benefiber. I mixed in my food & Protein powdered shakes.< br>

Just a reminder.. don't ever consume anything fizzy until at least 8 weeks post op (preferably never.. let it sit until all bubbles are GONE). Patients have died from, not even thinking, taking alka-seltzer during the first few weeks post op. The gas bubbles can expand in the stomach and rupture it (since there isn't anything but staples holding it closed until some scar tissue can form around 6-8 weeks postop).

I also use Smooth Move tea.. got it at the grocery store. BUT, it's a stimulant laxative (like ex-lax), so it's not good to use daily for weeks or months. The body can become dependent on these types of meds. Miralax and milk of magnesia work differently, so the body doesn't become dependent.
The best thing for long term is finding a selection of foods that you can eat daily and that will keep you regular. Everyone is different, so it's just a matter of experimenting until you figure it out.
It CAN BE an ongoing issue. There for a while, I was as regular as clockwork. Perfect stool. Lately I've had to go back and use supplements until I can figure out if I changed something, or what... (I'm over 5 months out).

2 years out and boy do I remember those days. I would walk half a block and feel out of breath. The first time I walked a mile and a half I was about 2 weeks out. I spent about an hour napping to recover. Doctor cleared me for light workouts at about 4 weeks.

Now, I can drink tons of Water, as long as I do it before or after eating. It looks like that stays with you. I hike or walk 5 miles 2 to 3 time a week and take ballroom dancing classes 2 to 3 times a week. I've kept of the 120 lbs I lost even though statistically, I should have gained some of it back by now.

The nutritionist I go to says the trick is that my exercising is a social even for me since both my hiking and dancing is done with friends.

Don't worry, it'll pass and you'll be back to your active self in no time. You might even end up a little more active. [emoji6]

Keep in mind I'm 2.5 years out and physically active in the context of running 20+ miles a week, weightlifting 3 times a week, and supplementing with other cardio (e.g. stationary bicycling, elliptical machine, stair mill machine). So, I work out 6 days a week.
I consume 2000 to 2300 calories per day and have maintained my body weight in 118 to 122-pound range for the past year eating that way.
However, I was eating less than 1000 calories a day until 4 months out.

Everyone's body is different. My weight loss has been sporadic. I had months where I lost 3-4 lbs and then I would lose like 10+ lbs. i just ended a stall that was 3 weeks long today and lost 2 lbs! Just stick to your diet plan and Water goals. The weight loss will come! You may want to measure yourself if you don't already do it. During my stall I lost almost 2 inches around the fattest part of my stomach. So it is possible you are losing inches even though the scale doesn't show it with the numbers.

I LOVE my instant pot!! I can cook a pot of Beans in 55 minutes!! We took a tough Steak and added celery, onions, carrots and 1 small potato Put in for around 45 to 50 minutes. The tough meat just fell apart. It was yummy. Did I say I LOVED my instant pot!! I also have the air fryer which I really don't care for. I think it is because I haven't taken the time to use it. You can't beat those Instant Pot.
