Sometimes even if my stomach is growling, first I try a glass of Water and usually it simmers down. I don't particularly like water, but tea or broth would help and the broth is good for you.

I know it’s head hunger because I’m consuming all my macros on target and then adding above and beyond because of my perceived hunger. I’m also not getting my usual hunger cues, like a growling stomach. My cravings are also for foods I would normally avoid, like potato chips and chocolate.

Good advice. I think the weekends tend to be a bit tougher as I’m out of the routine of the work week. A jigsaw puzzle is a great idea.

Doesn’t sound like fun. I’d suggest keeping busy and active so you’re not thinking about it. My nutritionit also suggested brushing your teeth if there’s something you really want, which is surpriingly effective.

The struggle is real! Surgery is not the easy way out, it is still very difficult and you’ll still struggle from time to time. Keep the faith, and remember why we all took this journey! Stay strong and you will get through it.

That's tough. If you like jigsaw puzzles or if you haven't done one in awhile, you may want to consider it. My mind is occupied when I'm putting a puzzle together and its tired when I'm done working on it for the night.

We are breakfast doppelgängers! I also do a premier with coffee (usually decaf) most mornings and mix it up with an omelette on Saturday mornings. It’s worked well for me for the past 6 months, so I’m sticking to it! I really love the chocolate premier/coffee combo, to the point that I look forward to it. A couple days a week a top it with some whipped cream, which is heavenly.

I,was sleeved on 7-21-2017 and I have no regrets wha t so ever! My weightg loss is slow but none the less I am very happy. I have lost 42 LB and many inches. I have went from a size 24 to an 18. But the biggest thing that I am most grateful for is that I was able to have the hernia surgery that I have waited 6 years for. Due to four abdominal surgeries I had 3 large hernias that really hindered my ability in everything I did. But no more!!! I had my hernia surgery on 12-19-2017 and it has made a huge difference in how I walk, my ability to dance again and just the overall happiness of looking down and seeing my stomach flat again!!!
Before surgery for the last 4 yrs, I did not eat, Pasta, bread, soda or fast food, so I do not miss that. I drink Water and coffee only.
I try to get at least 60gr of Protein, I eat a Protein Bar and shake everyday. But I just don't eat very much and I am very happy with that. Food was never my friend, I had guilt every time I ate and now that is gone. I pretty much eat when I am hungry and I eat what I want. Sometimes it just a few bites and I am done. I do not eat sweets at all, when I feel I want something sweet I have a sugar free cookie and that's it. My guilty pleasure is a few spicy nacho Doritos, lol. Even then it's only 5 or 6, not the whole bag.
I look forward to dancing!! I walk a lot , have lots if energy and keep thinking it can only get better.
If you look for me on Instagram you can see my journey.
And I did tell my sister's who were very supportive! I told them in October bc I knew my hernia surgery was coming up. They have been my biggest cheerleaders besides my hubby.
I am very happy and thankful everyday.

I am six month post op. My hair started thinning out at the end of month three and just stopped a couple weeks ago. I started 10,000 mcg daily Biotin preop and have taken it religiously since then. I honestly think there’s no way to stop it. Some people get lucky and don’t go thru it. I’ve found that dry Shampoo at the roots adds a lot of volume and masks the thinness of the hair. If your hair is dark they make black and brown tinted dry shampoos that are great. I use the Batiste brand.

When I crave pizza I make this, but I substitute ricotta cheese for cream cheese. I also throw it under the broiler for the last few minutes of bake time to get it crispy on the edges. http://www.plainchicken.com/2012/03/wheres-crust-pizza.html?m=1
It totally satisfies my craving for pizza or Pasta and is unbelievably delicious. The options for toppings are endless. I threw roasted asparagus and turkey meatballs on top last week and it was heavenly.

Only .5 from my challenge goal. I’ll call it a victory! Today also marks 6 months from surgery for me. I am down 76.5 pounds from the date of surgery and 91.5 pounds from the start of my pre-op diet. Feeling great! Thank you for running the challenge!

Sorry if my post is redundant. I skipped over a lot of content in the thread. I just had to chime in to say that you totally blew my mind with this post. “Unless I achieve moderation food is still in control.” You have completely boiled down my entire struggle with food. I am always feast or famine (pun intended). I completely agree with you but I am very scared to dip my toes into the world of moderation. I have stuck so close to my plan for the past six months for fear of going off the rails. The mental aspect of this process is by far the most difficult part!

I've seen a few people present this way.
    Maybe I should emulate:
    Jan 10, 2018: 308.4 pounds = FINAL
    Jan 03, 2018: 313.3
    Dec 27, 2107: 319.2
    Dec 20, 2107: 320.9
    Dec 13, 2107: 322.4
    Dec 06, 2107: 325.8
    Nov 29, 2107: 329.4
    Nov 22, 2107: 332.7
    Nov 15, 2017: 338.0
    Goal: 304
While I missed my goal by 4.4 pounds (or 2.0 kg) , I'm pleased that I went so well over the xmas-New Year period.
Thanks for running this @The New Kel

I can’t believe how much better I’m feeling these days. Improved sleep, resolution of sleep apnea, diminished joint pain, increased energy, and improved self-esteem. I’ve been really strict about following my surgeon’s plan, with the exception of Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve when I allowed myself a small portion of dessert. I did lose a lot of hair. It started around month three and is just starting to slow down in the last couple weeks. I am down 90 pounds and I’m hoping to lose another 20 more, give or take. I’m glad we’re catching up on the group! I hope you’ve all had success!

I'm doing amazing! Honestly my surgery and recovery went great and I have already lost over 65 lbs. Down to size 10 for jeans and medium tops!!! I started working out with a trainer twice a week after I was cleared at my 6 week appointment and then do extra cardio days. I have developed a love for weight lifting and exercise. I completed my first 5k last month and am hoping to do a sprint triathlon this spring/summer. I'm also thrilled that as my weight is back to a safe range I'm back riding horses (English riding) 1-2x a week and have even started jumping smaller jumps again.
I think the holidays were the biggest challenge I had. I gave myself a little grace and let myself eat a few carb-heavy foods (a couple bites of Pasta, a sliver a cheesecake, etc) but did better than expected and still lost weight. Also having to work hard to not make bad choices on my call days at the hospital (I'm a physician) when I get stressed but so far it's going great and my colleagues have been very supportive.

What’s your next goal? A sprint triathlon if I can get more comfortable with my new bike, I want to jump a 2'6 fence out of a canter by this summer (I hadn't ridden since early HS so getting back into it). I listed my goal weight here as 150 but I really just want to see how strong and toned I can get without being totally bulky as I'm already so close to 150 and I have a feeling I can surpass it.

    Today is January 3rd
    CW: 192.2
    GW: 190 (for this challenge)
    Long term goal: 130
I’m almost at my goal for this challenge but I am so disappointed in myself because it could be more, and considering I’m only two months out, for me, I believe it should be more... I started this challenge not exactly knowing what weight to have as a goal and I’m realizing that thru Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years- all excuses of course- I realize I truly have no willpower and that I’m overeating and more depressed than I care to face. I believe I should be losing steadily (barring potential stalls) but I keep eating, sometimes worse than before surgery (I’m eating chips and soda, something I rarely did). I don’t want to deal with my skeletons but I know I have to so today I start seeing an eating disorder psychologist to figure out why I continue to hurt myself (I am literally stuffing my pouch to painful results) If anyone ever tells you that WLS is the easy way out tell them to f**k off and die!
This is me being accountable, hopefully I won’t continue to isolate and will come forward with good and hopeful progress!
