I’m 17 days post op today and I feel really good ..it doesn’t even feel like I had a surgery, the liquid diet it’s what reminds me that I had a surgery and that I can’t eat nothing ..I’m having a hard time drinking all that Water because it’s just sipping and i feel that I’m not getting enough water, and I’m very constipated to the point that i ended up in the ER and they had to drain me out to take all the hard rock stool that i had in there

Surgery was 5/17. The first night was hard! I had shoulder pain which was hindering any significant sleep. Apparently, one type of pain that is unique to laparoscopy is the post laparoscopy shoulder pain due to the phrenic nerve irritation to the diaphragm caused by the CO2 gas that remains in the abdomen at the end of the procedure. When the patient sits up, the gas moves upwards to the diaphragm and irritates the shoulder. The only cure I found was a heating pad on my shoulders, after finding that I was finally able to sleep for 7 hours ... BIG IMPROVEMENT!
Gas pain seems minimal, but I did find a secret "button" between my breasts (on my sternum), that when pushed seems to help release the gas. Don't ask how I figured that out ... WEIRD! lol
I am taking one pill at a time and it seems to take most of the day to get them all down. No nausea so far, but I am taking meds for that as well. They also fixed my hiatal hernia while in surgery so I haven't had any heartburn, but to be fair I'm not taking in much of anything ... Water and Vitamin water (the Jello was sickly sweet and hard to get down). I am still peeing so I hope I am getting enough water.
I am walking as much as I can, but I do have a pain (the top right quadrant of my abdomen), but it isn't associated with any of my incisions, which is weird and I will ask my doctor about it at my 1-week appointment.
I have decided to only weigh myself once per week, the fluctuations drive me nuts. But I still have water weight from surgery and am still not back to my surgery weight, even though I've had nothing but liquids.

I’m headed to Amazon right now and looking up these drinks. I seriously don’t think I can choke down one more shake. I was on 5 shakes a day for the week before surgery and that’s all. Nothing else so I’m done with them!!! Thanks for the suggestion!!! And you may have to send me some quiche!😜

Twas the night before surgery, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring... except the mummy who still has ten million things to do before she goes to hospital in the morning!
I've finished all the food prep and instructions for the hubby to keep both the children and Guinea pigs alive in my absence.
Still need to clean and put new bedding in Guinea pig cage, need to Water my recently planted seedlings/seeds (rain expected Thursday so this watering tonight then rain should carry them through), pack my hospital bag, shower, and try to sleep

*hugz* Hang in there ladies and gentleman, we have almost made it to our MAY DAY surgical rescue.
My surgery is this Wednesday, 2nd May! (half a day ahead of the US here in Aussie land) and I hope to post as soon as I"m able to once I'm post-surgery (probably late 1st or very early 2nd May US time). Today is my last day for a while having solids, so I plan to REALLY enjoy my meat and veggies tonight. Tomorrow I have to do full fluids, then fasting from midnight Tuesday (but continuing with Water until I arrive at hospital 8:45).
My weight loss slowed down a bit last week so I won't be making my overly optimistic pre-op weight loss target of my husbands current weight (106kg) but I"m currently between 111 and 112 which I think is pretty good down from 119kg just over 2 weeks ago.
I have already shrunk out of most of my pants I was wearing, and today picked up a few last things at the shops (a sleep/eye mask, a size 20 pair of track pants with drawstring waist (which I could put on today but is still a little tight), and some warm fleecy PJs for the kids now that cool nights are finally setting in.
Oh, I also bought a little teacup and saucer set (which will be my soup/purees bowl and plate for a while) plus a couple of mini "dipping sauce" bowls that I think will hold about a third of a cup serving of soup/liquids.
I still need to make and freeze small portions of cauliflower Soup tonight.
Never seems to be enough time to get everything done! I did at least get the rest of my onion seeds and smaller garlic (to eat as garlic greens over winter) planted and deeply watered in yesterday, so my veggie patch should be ready to chug along on it's own until winter now.
I've also just realised that I'm having much less trouble swallowing my formulite Meal Replacement shakes at lunch, and that it is probably because it now tastes a lot more bland to me than it did initially (I assume my taste buds have adapted to it?? fingers crossed it goes down as easy post op once I hit full liquids).

Beyond pre-op dietary changes, what else is everyone up to between now and surgery day? My kids start school holidays after tomorrow and my sons 6th birthday party is this saturday (no major stress for me as its at a lollipops playland play centre and they manage all the food there and the icecream cake so no birthday cake baking/decorating stress for me.)
if the weather moderates (just had hottest April day ever at about 36 degrees C, weird for mid autumn) will hopefully drag the kids out with me for some walks. I still need to plant my garlic, onions and carrots (delayed by hot weather and then weeks of migraines) and want to get a few other things tidied in the veggie patch before i go into surgery.
ive also made overnight a fresh batch of 20 hour slow cooked chicken stock and will make some Soups and some purees to freeze for post op, and some veggie soups for this preop stage. Also freezing a few meals for hubby and kids since im the only one who cooks (tuna mornay, savoury mince for tacos, spag bol, roasted chicken wings etc).
Edit: Oh yeah, and I picked up like 12kg of lovely fuji apples for $2/kg last week - am going to stew up a heap of those with cinnamon and freeze for puree and soft solids stages.

May 2nd here as well SmileyMay! (though will be about a half day ahead of you here in Aussie land)
*I'm not sure why my ticker is displaying May 1st*

(copied below what I pasted in the April/May thread too)
I'm jumping in here now as I just got my date today! 2 May 2018 is my surgery date, and have started my pre-op phase immediately as they would ideally have liked me on the pre-op diet for 4 weeks with my BMI so close to 50.

Kids will be back at school that week after the 2 week term holiday, and hubby will be taking a week and a half off to manage the kidlets (6 & 9 years) while I'm in hospital and my first few days at home.

Any other Aussies in here? I'm in Adelaide and going with Dr Michael France at Ashford Specialist Centre.

I am so crazy excited, and glad I'm not having to jump through insurance hoops and lengthy delays like so many US sleevers.

I will have to stick with just lean meats/protein and veggies today and tomorrow until my formulite Meal Replacements arrive by post (can't have Optifast as aspartame and other artificial sweeteners trigger nasty Migraines for me), then 2 shakes and one lean meat & veg meal a day until 2 days before surgery, only shakes the last day before surgery.

    *does jiggly happy dance*

I’m terrified as well, which is why I waited so long to do this. I weighed the pros against the cons, and the pros list won. I’m thankful for this group as no one in my family has ever been in my position, so I feel I can’t really talk to them. I have only told my husband, my mother and two of my friends. Please reach out on this support group. It really helps since it ranges from people who are considering surgery to people who have had surgery recently and years ago. A wealth of great advice and a good support system! It helped me to write down all the reasons why I’m having surgery vs what if I don’t have it. Good luck!
