LaLa Ladybug reacted to emma93 in Questions about postop for pending 7/13 RNY Gastric Bypass
I have my surgery on Monday the 10th! Maybe we could message each other and I could tell you how mine went and how I felt. I don't have a boyfriend or family where I am at so I will be doing it by myself for the most part with friends stopping by, so hopefully, everything will be okay. Congratulations!

LaLa Ladybug reacted to Maxthecat in Questions about postop for pending 7/13 RNY Gastric Bypass
I did not need or want help. My husband was at work the day I was discharged and my parents dropped me off at home. My dad did run to the pharmacy for my meds and that was helpful.
My husband worked as usual and was in charge of preschool drop off and pickups for two weeks but that was about it.

I would take all the help anyone has offered. Definitely have someone stay with you when you get home. I had trouble bending over to pick things off the floor, etc.

LaLa Ladybug got a reaction from mjfx2 in Surgery Buddies Summer 2017
My surgeons office has me setup for 7/13. I'm still nervous but more excited than nervous!

I'm sitting here at 4:45 am on post op day 2. I had a circumferential body lift, and liposuction to my thighs. Everything went really well. I came out of surgery feeling great. Minimal pain. The surgery took about 6.5 hours. I've stayed in the hospital 2 nights, and the nurses and staff here have been amazing! I'm at Rose hospital in Denver Colorado. I've been taking Valium every 6 hours for muscle pain, and 2 Percocet every 4-6 hours for pain, they help a lot. When resting, I feel pretty darn good. Getting up and moving is a bit awkward and painful, but is doesn't last long. It is MUCH easier to get up from a chair than a bed. I slept like a baby last night, didn't need any meds, but when I work up this morning I was really stiff, and had a hard time rolling out of the bed. I took a walk down the hall for some coffee, took some pain meds, and am now sitting in the chair and feel good.
Most of the pain or discomfort I have is in my upper abs. Feels like I did 800,000,00 sit ups, lol. There is one little spot on my incision that burns if I move just right, but goes away quickly when I correct. My back incision hasn't given me any trouble, and that was the one I was Moat worried about!
I got a very brief look at my tummy as they checked my incision yesterday, and almost started crying. My stomach is flat. No longer flabby with the fold in the middle leadin to my perpetual muffin top. My belly button is currently covered, but everything looks beautiful. I have three drains in that exit at my pubis area. They are quite the site, and make it a little awkward when using the restroom, but very manageable!
So far the Lipo to my thighs has been fine. Mostly when I sit on the toilet I feel like I've been kicked in the behind by a horse, lol!
Well, I think that's it for now. My dream is finally coming true, and I couldn't be more happy! I'll keep you all posted on my recovery and progress!
Oh yeah...Dr. Folk removed about 7 lbs of skin and fat, and 3 liters of fat from my thighs during lipo! . Amazing!!
Stats:
Highest Wright ever 285lb
Weight at sleeve (July 28 2014) 262
Preop plastics weight: 169
Hope you all have a GREAT day!

Here are a couple pics from this morning! I love that I can now wear leggings and a t-shirt WITHOUT having to wear Spanx underneath! I don't miss the fold in my stomach that would always hang over the waist band!!! This is all without my compression garment on! ️

LaLa Ladybug reacted to Berry78 in I'm an emotional wreck!!! Tell me when this lets up!!
I found my emotions calmed down as my nutrition increased. The first month I was taking in close to a 100g of carbs a day through dairy products (and they were mostly whole.. so I was getting plenty of fat too). After that initial healing period, I started decreasing my carbs (they are at 60g now), to help continue with weight loss.
I don't know if this will help, but when I was on the low fat/low carb preop diet, and Clear Liquids for the first week postop, my emotions were all over the place. Once I brought the milk in during full liquids, things got better very quickly.
Everyone is different, so you may be having something else going on. Hormone dumping is very common (fat cells tend to accumulate hormones, so with the rapid weight loss, those hormones get dumped into your bloodstream). If you have been on medications, I suspect some of them also end up in the blood too.
The lifestyle change will take a few months to become your new "normal".
The main thing is to be kind to yourself. Take it all one day at a time, and things will gradually get better. It absolutely is a great idea to talk to a counselor that is familiar with the bariatric process.
{Hugs} It'll get better! I promise!

I had my RNY 6/13 and I feel like it's been getting worse. Ugh!!! I have a follow up appointment with my teams psychiatrist (my surgeon has us see them every so often) I'm hoping he can shed some light for me.

LaLa Ladybug reacted to surviving5 in Surgery Scheduled for July, Anyone else?
With July just around the corner, I sat down and started writing list. My hospital bag, what Vitamins and my daily diet goals. I found myself feeling a bit lost as to what exactly I needed to be eating after surgery. I know my hospital doesn't require liquids they jump straight to soft foods.
Has anyone else felt the need to write stuff down and research a little more since surgery is getting closer?

LaLa Ladybug reacted to DedicatedLady in Surgery Scheduled for July, Anyone else?
Yay Nmelo723 you must be excited! Also nervous while waiting for insurance to approve. That seems to be a common problem. Why make people wait and stress out, their probably stressing out about the surgery a bit anyways. I'm sure you'll be approved and join the July list with all of us you'll do great!

LaLa Ladybug reacted to kitmouse in Surgery Scheduled for July, Anyone else?
Oh my goodness that's fast! Where in San Diego are you having surgery? My surgeon (in San Diego) insists on you staying within half an hour of the office for at least the first week! Flying that soon after surgery is REALLY not safe, I'm already worried for you. ☹️ Your boss is a jerk! This is medical, it's not like you're taking vacation! Does your surgeon know you're working/flying that soon after the procedure?

Congrats on being through surgery! Were you nervous going into it? Did you have any hesitation? I am scheduled for July 10th and I am freaking out!

LaLa Ladybug reacted to B.Annie in Never thought 1/2c was too much
I never knew if I should believe it or not but 1/2 cup of "full liquids" is too much!
This is only my second lunch being on full liquids- after surgery I was on Clear Liquids for the first week. I got myself a 1/4 cup of fat-free cottage cheese and 1/4 cup of Tomato Soup. I was eating slowly and at one point looked down at my bowl and for the first time in my life thought I had too much food left! Then I noticed I was very full (tight feeling in chest) when I was only half way done.
I'm still getting used to the practice of leaving food on my plate because it feels wrong but I'm so glad that this tool is helping me literally not be able to finish. I was never sure if I should believe that or not either lol.

LaLa Ladybug got a reaction from Jengo825 in High Rate of Revisions for Lap Band Surgery
Got mine 12/2009. Worked fantastic. Slipped early 2013 & finally lost mine 10/2013. I'm now set for RNY in July. My surgeon at our local center who did my band will not even place them anymore.
-
LaLa Ladybug reacted to Michelle Ery in Why did you pick this surgery?
I'm in the process of band to RNY revision. I choose RNY for a couple reasons. Higher percent of weight loss, malabsorption of some calories, less chance of gerd, higher chance of remission of diabetes and hypertension.
Michelle Pre-op revision band to bypass
Starting weight 275
Healthy BMI 154.

LaLa Ladybug reacted to catwoman7 in Typical meal a year out from RNY?
at a year out I was eating in the 1000-1200 calorie range (I'm now in maintenance and am eating 1500-1700 calories). I could eat most anything but, as the above poster said, in smaller portions. It was (and still is) basically a high Protein, moderately low carb diet (I never did the ultra-low carb thing that a lot of post-ops do - but then again, I'm not particularly carb sensitive, either). Mostly protein, vegetables, and fruit with an occasional complex carb like grains or Beans.

LaLa Ladybug reacted to 4MRB4PHOTO in Losing only 13lbs in 5 weeks
Congratulations on your weight loss so far. If you lost at that rate, in six months you would lose ~65 pounds.
This is a journey not a race, you are doing great.

LaLa Ladybug reacted to catwoman7 in Losing only 13lbs in 5 weeks
you're what we in the bariatric community call a "lightweight" (I don't know what the actual weight requirements are to be considered a "lightweight", but I'd say under 250 lbs). Lightweights lose slower than us heavier folks because they have a lot less to lose. I know you read about people losing 30 lbs the first month, but those folks are few and far between and usually weigh over 300 lbs.
Your body's going to lose at the rate it wants to lose. The only control you have is to stick to your program. I was a "slow loser", and I have lost 227 lbs. It'll come off, whether fast or slow, if you stick to your program.
