I was thinking the same thing. How can we only sip Water, but be expected to drink contrast stuff down?

My surgery is still a week and a half away. I'm wondering how we can even drink that stuff the day after surgery. Did they have you drink as much then as they did pre-op?

So I am just about a year out since my surgery. Had it on May 23rd of 2016.     
Far and away I can say this was the BEST decision that I have ever made in my life. My highest weight was 433 lbs with my surgery weight at 397 lbs. Proud to say just about a year after surgery I currently weigh 194 pounds. 203 pounds down since the surgery and 241 down overall.
I literally cannot even tell you how much this has changed my life for the better. I am posting this because I want everyone to know that if I did it you can too. If anyone has literally any questions at all for me please don't hesitate to reach out. I

How gross the drink for the upper gi X-ray the day after my surgery was. It tasted like soap. It was not the same drink I had pre-op.

If I dropped something on the floor the first week it stayed there until someone else picked it up. Bending over hurt. Grabbers would've been handy.

Do you have a grabber in case you drop something or there is something higher than you can reach without stretching? Someone else suggested that to me.

I take these, but citrus or strawberry flavor.
I also take 2500 mg. of Biotin with gummies per day.

I found that my Hair loss stopped once I started getting a B12 shot and increased my Protein. Hope this helps

Also, I never thought about how hard it would be to maneuver in the bed. For the first two nights, it was very hard to find a comfortable position and even harder to try to change the position. I was too scared to sleep in my recliner because of the fear of blood clots. (I have a clotting disorder) I'm 5 days post-op and am finding it much easer to get comfortable now.

Surprised how painless it was, and how quick I'm dropping weight. But shocked at how weak I'm a month out. Maybe it's because I'm still on purée diet. But it's getting better

Also, I had a few moments of sheer panic of "Why did I do this; what have I done to myself?!?" It always came after a nap. I'd wake up and for a split second forgotten I had surgery and then when I remembered, the panic would come. I could talk myself down but prepare for a few moments of "Whyyyyyy". It has subsided now. [emoji4]. For now. 🤞🏼

when I have my Surgury, I was happy to know that there were people there to help me if needed. Everyone is different after Surgury. I think you have someone to help you around the house if you need it. That is nice to know you have a lot of support. 😀

Just had sleeve on 6/27.. my biggest problem was pain. Especially along the waist line and below. I am still unable to bend at the waist . I needed help the first day after surgery at home. Had friends that would drop by daily and help with certain things I was unable to do. Definitely purchase a grabber to help you pick things up off the floor and it will help with doing certain tasks ..also if you have a pharmacy that delivers or a friend that can bring you what you need for a few days that is helpful. You don't need someone with you all day but having someone nearby helps. After a week of recovery at home I was feeling very weak, faint when I got up, and my heart was racing. Turns out I had developed an ulcer from one of the meds they gave me to prevent blood clots. I was glad I had my daughter home that day to drive me to the doctor and ER.

I wish you all the best. Thus group has been a good support to me because not all my friends and family understand what this feels like. So emotionally, just try to stay focused and do reach out to people that have similar issues and that may help. I'm 5 days post op and I'm doing well. I do have a lot of support but I'm Journaling to help with emotions!!

I needed help. You may need help too. I just had someone around just in case. Things can get emotional, you may lose track of anything your surgical team might want you to take notes of, taking meds consistently... Even eating like you may forget to eat cause you're really not hungry.
I recommend someone sticks around to help you out because sometimes you won't even feel like or have the energy to do anything else. That's all I did was just lay there unless I needed my pain meds. The possibilities are endless here.
