Sleeved mid June and currently down to 198 from pre-op weight of 260s. Pleased, but wanting to go further with exercise (Orange Theory/general low carb diet). @BatCap, I had the best experience with the surgery. Like getting my wisdom out. Was a breeze other than some gas pain and the initial shock of how little you can eat for the first little while. Now I am having regular (healthy) meals with friends and it's hardly noticeable. You got this!

bcl1628 started following Onederland!

Sleeved on June 23, 2017. 71 lbs and 4 pant sizes down. Male, 5’10. I can do things I haven’t been able to do in years- RUNNING being my favorite [re-]discovered hobby. Enjoying the process (and trying to be patient with the stalls). Let’s do this!

I hate talking about (or even hearing people complaining about) weight loss stalls or plateaus. Know that I am not a complainer, and I understand and appreciate that there will be stalls along the journey. However, mine have come early, and I'm pissed. About me: Male, HW: 270, SW: 245, CW: 222, Surgery Date: 6/28/17. I'm 1 month and 20 days out. The scale has been stuck for a week. I exercise 4-5 days a week, eat trace amounts of sugar/carbs. I'm eating less than 1000 calories a day, and burning an excess 400 calories when I work out. Working out = pure cardio (walking and jogging). I have set goals for myself to be under 200 lbs by October 31. At this rate, I'm getting a little depressed about it. And I know stalls are most likely to happen in month 3. Any advice or suggestions on how to break the stall? Should I eat more (good) calories?

Oh! The joys of constipation!

I haven't used the bathroom since the day of surgery. So strange. I'm a week out. -

I am in full liquid phase and I'm eating some things. A cracker or crouton here or there. A tiny piece of cheese. The tiny chards of vegetables in cream soups. I'm perfectly fine. -

I was sleeved today, 6/28. Everything was smooth- just experiencing a little gas pain and some reasonable incision discomfort. All in all, the surgery itself was a success. Now, the hard part... When I started this process I weighed about 270 (Im 5'10). I got to 245 on the pre-op diet. Any guys start around that weight? If so, where have you gotten, or where did you ultimately end up? I'm hoping to get to 200 around Thanksgiving, and end around 180.

Sleeve TOMORROW 6/28. Good vibes please!
bcl1628 replied to bcl1628's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved and feeling fine! Pain is a "discomfort" at most. Surgeon, David Carroll, was fantastic. Only lasted about 35 minutes. Was in recovery for about an hour. Now I'm in the room for the night, enjoying a dilauded cocktail and some Netflix on my iPad. Cheers to new beginnings and successful surgeries. You have nothing to be afraid of! -
Out of surgery and feeling fine. This has been a walk in the park. Just a little "cramping" pain in my stomach that I'm taking pain meds for.

I'm tomorrow morning too! We will both be great. My doctor does these surgeries routinely and said it only takes about 30 minutes- piece of cake. See you on the loser's bench tomorrow evening.
-
Good luck! I bet it's a walk in the park. Mine is tomorrow and I've convinced myself this procedure itself is nbd. Seems like they are doing these constantly at my local hospital.

Help! I ate a whole Pizza. How??
bcl1628 replied to wlsfeb2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How big was the pizza? Was it flat bread or hand tossed? Lots of toppings or just cheese? Now I'm craving pizza. -
I can't believe my surgery is tomorrow! My insurance approval process was abnormally fast (less than 3 months from start to finish) and here I sit, waiting to have my stomach removed . I am excited about losing weight, about being healthy again and dropping the blood pressure meds. I'm excited to be able to run again, and to wake up in the mornings well rested with no sleep apnea. BUT I'm mourning losing mass quantities of pizza, Mexican food, Michelob Ultra, and a host of things that got me to where I am today. I've read that I can have those things again much later down the road, but in reasonable-to-tiny portions. I think the thing I am having the hardest time with right now is not knowing what my new stomach will feel like, or what it will be able to tolerate and when. That's the nature of this surgery I guess. Excitement for the weightloss but fear of the unknown. Hopefully before surgery I will fall asleep quickly and time travel to the loser's bench. My wife and I appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and encouragement as we go down this path!

Sleeve is on Wednesday the 28th
bcl1628 replied to It'mylife2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sleeve is tomorrow too! Freaking out a bit unfortunately. I've been craving pizza and mexican food. Do they make a pizza/burrito flavored Premier shake? If not, I smell a hole in the market. Good luck tomorrow! -
Hunger is making me physically ill in the clear liquid phase. I'm having bad headaches, blurred vision, getting weak in the knees, and having gagging sensations. When this happens I rush to the kitchen to drink a protein shake or some broth, which I find absolutely disgusting. Today during church I thought I was going to throw up. Cheated afterward and had some chicken soup from Newks. Anybody else cheat a little with full liquids (cream soups, sugar free pudding, etc) during clear liquid pre-op? My surgery is 6/28, so hopefully I can stick to the plan the next 2 days.
