Hey all! Just took my first shower with the Hibiclens. It's so real now. Getting up at 4am to be to the hospital by 5am. Surgery 8:15 am. So happy to know so many are going through what I will be going through. It's reassuring and encouraging. Sending love to all ~Angie

I went from 240 ish to 128ish now. Not really sure what I weigh exactly cause I stopped caring. I'm 5'6 and I wear a size 0-4 depending...
I can run about five miles without getting tired. That's the best thing to me.

Hi. I too have knee and back pain. I also have restless legs. I am 5'2 and weigh 215. My dr says it's from my weight. It takes me awhile to get up after sitting. Pretty sad It has come to this. Im hoping with weight loss the pain will leave

Everyone has a PHD in fat here. Some people are just know it all's because they read the handouts the surgeon gave them lol. I regularly roll my eyes and bite my tongue but there are enough positive posts with good or at least interesting information to keep on this site. However, peeps? Ewwwwww!

I would be more worried about the kidney stone than not dropping weight. The fact you were in the hospital getting IV fluids, that alone will slow your weight loss.
The purpose of the pre-op diet is supposed to be to shrink your liver not lose weight.
    Good luck.

Just checking in. Hope all of you are doing well. I had my sleeve in August 2015. I've lost 98 pounds. I swim 1000 yards 3 days a week and am now testing as physically fit for my age and being a female. I could not have imagined the positive changes in my life 2 years ago.
To all who are preop- it is worth every appointment, struggle and sacrifice.
To those newly postop- try not to focus on the scale. I had long stalls. During those stalls I lost a lot of inches. I recently found one of my old bras- I've lost 10 inches in band size!!
To those who are farther out like me- it is a life unimaginable though starting to get more comfortable as a "thin" person. Stay connected to a support group of some sort- it helps keep you on track!
I included my picture from the day I checked into the Bariatric clinic HW 241, other photo is from 1 year postop. CW 142
Happy spring and have a blessed Easter!!

I had gastric bypass surgery on 1/24/17, and went back to the gym the second week after. I was sore and swollen, but I was more than ready to start losing the weight....plus I vpulndt stand to lay and sit around and only walk around my house. I started light, just walking the track at my local gym, everyday for at least 30 minutes a day. From there I have progressed to running a mile and half, 30 minutes of weight training, and swimming laps in the pool for an hour a day, 4 days a week. I have lost 50 lbs so far and 15 inches. My heaviest weight was 330, pre surgery weight was 274, and now I'm at 224. I'm feeling alive again. The problems I was having with my osteoarthritis have gone down drastically! I'm keeping up with my 3 kids, 2 of which are teenagers, and I'm loving life again! I have changed from one of those people that dreaded walking too long in a store to being one that looks forward to the gym days and hiking trails. I can't wait to see what summer brings!!
I keep trying to upload my pics but can't seem to figure out how to do it. Can anyone explain that please?

I had my surgery 16 days ago. My family and close friends know but I didn't tell my coworkers. I didn't even tell them I was going on leave. I go back May 1st and I've already lost 24# so I know I'm gonna get questions. I'm not trying to keep it a secret I just don't know how to go about telling them.

I've been obese for about half of my life and I have an extensive medical history. I had my surgery April 11th and I decided before the surgery not to tell anyone. Only my wife knows and she is aware of my wishes to keep my surgery secret. Right now I am trying to figure out how to respond when my family members inquire about my rapid weight loss? Has anybody kept surgery a secret and how is it working out so far?

Justjoan reacted to SoCalGal77 in Anyone with a low BMI (30-33) had sleeve surgery or will be?
well im not sure the kind of responses you will get. on the other forums I saw people get nasty towards posts like these. Some people would kill to be your starting weight and not to mention you only have like 40 pounds to lose. I totally understand how you feel because I was around 160 my entire high school life and at the age of 19 hit 200 and steadily made it to 215 and now im 39 years old. I struggled to lose the weight for years and years. I wish I would have had this option then.. I did manage to lose 60 pounds on my own twice and another time I lost 40. But it never stayed off. I would gain so fast like 10 pounds a month once I stopped the low carb dieting. So I understand the need for you to gain control and stop the gain in its tracks. I have also heard stories where most doctors declined to agree to this surgery unless you go to Mexico where they approve everyone. I know because I went there. What I have learned from the lower BMI patients, the doctors went with a larger sized bougie because their weight didnt call for a drastic smaller pouch. This is a decision the surgeon makes once he gets inside you and takes a look at your anatomy. You cannot force them to give you a certain size. I believe this is where my issue is. I had a lower BMI at the time 35. Once my surgery was over I was able to eat way way more than anyone else I have heard. I never felt restriction and I eat too much and I only lost 35 pounds after the Sleeve. I have gained that all back because I have no restriction. Im guessing I got a larger pouch to begin with and communicating to the surgeon in Mexico is next to impossible and all they want is more money. So be brave if you get negative responses and make sure you really need this surgery.
