amiyah reacted to Angie M in July sleevers liquid diet
I guess I'm the last of the July sleevers (7/31) to start liquid diet. It stinks! Didn't realize how much of a habit eating is. I get hungry and think I'll have a sandwich. Nope, no sandwiches for you! LOL
It could always be worse.... I am grateful for the opportunity.

amiyah reacted to MBird in Feeling tightness every time I move - 3days post op
Had mine the 23, this is normal, about 3 days from now it will be less. The area you describe is where they made 4 or 5 incisions and on the left is where they pulled your stomach out.
It's normal for it to feel tight. It will take weeks until you feel no tightness in your trunk but the pain will be much less very soon.

amiyah reacted to Mama V in Dinner out at 14 days post op
So, I'm two weeks out from surgery today, and I had to go to a relative's birthday....at the Cheesecake Factory!
But guess what? I ordered one egg scrambled, and a slice of avocado, and I survived! Woot! Woot!
It's not easy, but it's going to be SO worth it! I'm only down 10 lbs, but the scale is moving in the right direction. I'm so happy that this will be my last fat summer.
We can do this, ya'll

But you said you were 100% sure? Who is your source? I should have to verify his source. That's his job. FAKE NEWS

amiyah reacted to tcodrington in Anxiety about my surgery on 4/24
I'm so nervous about my surgery. I'm getting the sleeve and I haven't seen very many people on here over 300lbs who are getting the sleeve. I've lost almost 100lbs on my own in the past, but I always gain it back. I know how to eat well and I have a fantastic support system and trainer, but I still worry that I will fail. Has anyone over 300lbs had success with the sleeve?

amiyah reacted to orionburn in Signs you're full?
I remember the first time eating an egg thinking sarcastically "oh yeah this is going to fill me up" and then like 3/4 of the way through it I was tapping out...lol. I haven't been able to figure out why some days certain foods go down easy, and other days they sit heavy. When I could have eggs on a regular basis it was like that. One day I felt miserable eating one, two days later no problem at all, and then the next day it didn't sit well again. Think a lot of it boils down to the density of what you're eating. I'm 6 weeks out now and can get a 5.3 oz Chobani yogurt down no problem. Thinks like chicken salad or hamburger sit much heavier and 1/2 a cup is pushing it.
Honestly the most important thing is to take your time. Take a bite, then put your spoon/fork down for a minute or or two. And by bite I'm mean I like baby spoon size bite. My doc's office gave me a little spoon to use and that's what I use the majority of the time now. It does help you keep to a proper portion at a time.

I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. I'm 6 days out and feeling better everyday but really wanting to eat something crunchy. What's making you so miserable?

amiyah reacted to ShelterDog64 in Leak test
My surgeon uses gas in the stomach and Water in the abdomen to check the suture line before they close the incisions. I wouldn't have known that he did it, but I asked.

amiyah reacted to gogreenmama in First night home
I slept on my back once I got home. Having someone help you get up is always a plus. I was sleeved last Saturday. The pain is now 99% gone.

Any ideas on drinks that don't get stuck in your throat? Water, crystal light and milk all get stuck right before the stomach.

amiyah reacted to mylighthouse in Nothing tastes good
First, congratulations on your surgery.
I know it can be hard to get your liquids and Protein in. Right now, I wouldn't worry too much about the calories.
If you are unable to get Protein Shakes down, I want to offer you a suggestion. Try an unflavored good Protein Powder such as Unjury or Isopure and you will be able to mix it in broth, Soup, yogurt, etc. Or maybe even better in your case, you can also mix it into drinks such as Crystal Light, Powerade Zero, or my favorite, Decaf unsweet iced tea. Maybe a protein powder in one of those drinks will help, as it does not thicken like a regular Protein Shake.
Really concentrate on getting those liquids in, you might want to set goals for yourself every half hour or so... like "I will drink this many ounces every 30 minutes." You certainly don't want to get dehydrated, and it can happen very easily. It happened to me twice and I had to stay at the ER and get IV liquids for half a day.
Liquids and protein... very important. Calories at the moment, I wouldn't fret over that.
I wish you a speedy recovery!
