Slow WL
I have been using the MyFitnessPal app and that does help. I just hate giving in to my cravings and eating junk that I know I shouldn't be.

Slow WL
At my 6 month check up my doctor told me I was losing too slow and I felt like a complete failure. He suggest I talk to a therapist. I left the office in tears. I am at 9 months out now and I have lost a total of 81 pounds and 53 pounds since surgery. I did have a couple weeks were I gained a pound or 2 and it felt like it took me forever to lose it again. I am beyond frustrated.

Help needed with decision RNY or Sleeve
I actually originally wanted RNY but changed my mind to have VSG. There are benefits and downsides to each procedure. So I'd say do what you think is best for you. You typically lose more and quicker with RNY. With VSG it is less invasive and you don't have the vitamin absorption problems. But with VSG you lose slower but don't have problems with the dumping syndrome.

Let's talk skin...excess skin and scarring
My doctor said not to expose incision sites for 1 year after surgery. I haven't tried it but heard that lavender oil helps heal and fade the scars.

Excessive Saliva???
I am a little past 6 weeks post op. Has anyone else felt like they have an excessive amount of saliva going on? I know it's not lady like to spit but I just feel like my mouth is producing more than the average amount of saliva.

3day post op, the protein shakes are killing me.
I had the same problem. (Sleeved 4/10) it gets better once you can eat real food. Now I drink one a day to get all my protein in.

Weight loss
I was really excited when I lost 15 pounds 8 days after surgery. Then it seemed like nothing happened. I'm almost 5 weeks out and have lost a total of 20 pounds. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one frustrated.

Upcoming Surgery
Now that I am 4 weeks out, I can say Milk of Magnesia helps. I was one of those "it won't happen to me" people. But constipation is no fun.

Lurker finally asking questions: Who did you tell?
I haven't hidden it from anyone. I went through a very long process being denied by insurance after seeing one doctor so I had to start all over again so people around me knew about it. And of course my friends and family knew and were supportive. I am always happy to talk about it since most people don't have their facts right or they think you are just weak for not going on a diet. (Like I didn't try that my whole life!) People just don't understand unless they've been obese. There's always going to be haters. And honestly I think a lot of people are jealous. I'm almost a month post op and I have a co-worker who is always bringing junk food in the office or offering me bad food choices like she is mad that I am losing weight. I just ignore it and shake my head, politely decline. I did what's best for me and I don't care what others think. But some people think they know everything or have to put their nose in others business. That won't change regardless of the situation.

April Sleevers, What Changes Have You Noticed?
I'm feeling the same way. I lost 15 pounds the first week now it's coming off very slowly. I'm stepping up my exercise game! (Sleeved 4/10)

Upcoming Surgery
I agree with the others, just comfy clothes for the hospital stay. I slept most of the first day. One thing I wish I'd had once I got home was plain unflavored protein powder. I got so sick of the sweet shakes!

Does anyone have more heavy menstrual cycles since surgery?
I was on Depo Provera shot prior to surgery and hadn't had a cycle for around two years. I skipped my injection due to surgery and a week after surgery got my period.

So tired!
I'm only 2 weeks post op but I still feel very tired. It seems to get a bit easier every day!

Protein drinks in week 1?
I was on clear liquids the day after surgery and then 2 weeks of liquid/soft diet. So protein shakes, cottage cheese, strained soups, jello, SF pudding, apple sauce, yogurt, etc.
