You have taken the first step in being honest with yourself about your mistakes. I think we will all have slip ups along this journey and it is what we do afterwards that will define our success. Admitting we made a mistake and figuring out what to do differently or better the next time is how we learn. This is the approach I plan on taking with myself. I know I am not perfect, but I will not let a slip up define me or derail reaching my goal.
    Great job!!

Don't worry about the NUT's reaction. You are doing great! As long as you feel good, the numbers are moving in the right direction, and you are following your diet plan, there isn't a problem. Moving from size 18-10 is huge progress and sometimes people will fail to give you the reaction you're looking for. You gotta be happy for yourself

I'd rather lose as slow as possible, so that the skin has a better chance to bounce back.

You really have inspried me as it has been a tough week and need a positive focus. I am 2 month post op and 19kg lighter but yesterday I was struggling. Dealing with the emotional change and hurdles of my job this week I lost sight of my end goal so thank you for the reminder. Have a great week, take care and Well done. You look fantastic🤗🤗

Thank you. I'm drinking lots of water and tea. Helping my mouth stay pretty good. Just can't get comfortable with the hospital bed and the drain on one of the incisions. Home, own bed tomorrow. Yayy! Xx

The three most important elements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight.
Weight loss is achieved after surgery through meal volume control. You begin at 2 ounces (1/4 cup) per meal and gradually over the next year and a half increase the volume to 1 cup per meal. With this minuscule amount of food, it is next to impossible to meet your protein daily requirements by food alone, so therefore you need to rely on supplements such as Protein Shakes.
After surgery you may find that your taste buds may change. So be willing to experiment. Many experience problems drinking protein shakes. I hated them. But in the beginning I drank them, three 16-ounce protein shakes a day, in order to meet my protein requirements. You do not have to like protein shakes only tolerate them. There are many different types of formulations on protein shakes. Experiment until you can find one you can tolerate.
I used Muscle Milk Light (Vanilla Creme) powder blended with Water and a half a banana. The banana made it tolerable. That worked for me. But on the opposite end of the spectrum, you might try premixed Isopure.
If you tried all the various varieties and still are unsuccessfully, then there is the fallback of fortified milk. 32 ounces of 1% milk fortified by adding 1 cup of dried milk provides 56 grams of protein. It also takes a dent out of meeting the fluid requirements. Mix up a pitcher and drink a little throughout the day.
As far as protein in meals, I have included some recipes for home made high protein chili and Soups at the end of the following article. I found that after surgery soft foods, such as chili and soups, went down much easier than harder foods, such as chicken and steak. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf You will need to be a few months post-op before you begin to use these.

Wow that's a lot of great information! I have to agree soups and chili much easier to eat then a chicken breast or steak. I find fish easier to eat also. Thank you for the information you provided!

I am 6 weeks post op and had a week of feeling quite down. Talking help but I also surrounded myself with post it notes whick I wrote positive messages on reminding me how step by step, day by day I can do this. I focus on the day and have looked at rewards that do not focus on food or drink. Also take some time for you and I find staring each day with 10min deep breathing helps. Every day you are one step closer to where you want to be.

I've got 165-ish to take off (roughly 50% of my highest weight) and I'm stalled at 20 pounds down on the pre-op diet. I'm struggling with hunger and impatience and defeatist thinking, but I'm trying to focus on TODAY. What can I "do right" today? This morning I got up and went for a 5k walk out in the sunshine, and thought about my goals of hiking and running and doing all my physical things. Then I drank some Protein Water and reminded myself again.
I guess all I can say is try not to look st the huge overwhelming goal. Yes you're working toward that, but look at what's right in front of you. Do that right. And repeat.

Hi all, I did so much research before this process but a 2 weeks pre op diet is normal. Being over weight means our liver is large by reducing the size of the liver it makes the surgery far easier to do and the possibility of less complications. Good luck all. I am now 1 month post op[emoji3]

October 28, 2016 I was 470 pounds and started my 2 week pre-op diet. Surgery was Nov 9th.
Today is April 29, 2017 and I was 320 pounds today. 150 pounds gone. Another 70 or so left to lose.
Surgery was the best decision I've made in years. My life has improved in so many ways.

I found that it took me about 4-5 weeks to feel like I had a semblance of my prior energy. I am absolutely not a day time napper but I felt like my body was telling me that I needed to recharge to heal. I'm 7 weeks out and 100% back to my normal speed. I see many people on here speaking about their dramatic return to activity, etc but it is a major surgery and your body must adjust in so many different ways. Best wishes!
