GassyGurl got a reaction from magpie26 in 7 days post op VSG - Right side abdominal cramping
I'm 9 months out and have this same pain. My PCP called it colon cramps (sort of like IBS) since I didn't have the typical gall bladder symptoms, except pain. Since it's still there, we are doing another ultra sound and hida scan to see if it is a sick gall bladder. She also prescribed me a medicine for stomach cramps, and it's helping. It's called hyoscyamine. Definitely check with your Dr if you get the nausea, vomiting and funky colored stool. I felt better after reading plenty of stories of other sleevers who found relief from this medicine.

I didn't have a Tummy Tuck but insurance did pay for apron surgery (panniculectomy). It was just the big overhang of skin. I started out at 520lbs and by the time I have lost 200lbs I had a tremendous amount of skin. It has been a little over a year since that surgery and I've since lost another 100lbs. I am in need of a second apron surgery. I'm hoping insurance pays again but if not I am considering self pay full body lift.

GassyGurl got a reaction from jess9395 in Question about hiatal hernia
I am always baffled when people say they have pain from their hernia repair. I don't doubt them, but I don't understand how someone can tell the difference when the diaphragm and stomach are so close together. The surgeon uses a few stitches to tighten the diaphragm around the esophagus. I had minimal pain from my severe hernia where my stomach was bulging and I had zero pain from anything except gas. Everyone is different. Talk to your Dr about how they repair it and see if a better understanding helps ease your mind.

Do you have a hernia, Gerd or gallbladder issues? Plenty of people just say they're having that corrected, then say their following a physician supervised diet plan afterwards.

There are a few things from this list that I could do more or that I’m not doing.
    1. Eating fatty fish 2x per week
    2. Adding tree nuts
    3. Add soy Protein
    4. Natural supplement, like fish oil.

I just got my 8 month bloodwork back and was distressed to see my LDL and triglycerides sky high. But I expected it, as it runs in my family.

I bought fish oil, am going to try to eat more salmon, greens and maybe Beans. Right now my Protein comes from meat, cheese and yogurt. I can't totally manage mine with diet, but these changes would be good for me anyways. And maybe allow me to take 10mg VS 20mg of lipitor. I'm already taking flaxseed and it seems to have helped my good cholesterol.

I have federal BCBS, and that would have disqualified me. I had to be at 35 w/comorbidities or 40 without when they submitted to insurance, after all the requirements were met.

Looking at my wardrobe, as I pull out the bags with stored clothes in 10lb weight ranges (I store when I grow, knowing I will get thin again. I throw out or give away when I shrink, knowing I will never get fat again. Expensive!) I notice that my clothes are pretty much all black or grey. Fat girls don’t show off, right?
So, yesterday I bought this, and today I am wearing it... SO many comments.

I hit my personal goal this past Saturday. Surgery was 8/11 and my goal was a 25 Bmi. I've lost 58 lbs total and can fit into size 4/6. But I'm bummed that my cholesterol is still high and my A1C is still in the pre-diabetes diabetes range.

Still working at it to see where my body settles. And trying to get rid of the belly flap.

Hi all! It’s been quite some time since I posted! I had a bit of a rough time after we moved to Virginia. I fell into a bit of a depression having moved all the way across the country from my family, leaving my friends, leaving my career as an RN to be a stay at home mom... lots of great changes were happening too, but I just had a hard time coping with it all.
Anyway, things are much better, and I’m enjoying this new life! I’m almost 9 months post op lower body lift and thigh Lipo and 3 yr 8mo post op gastric sleeve. I’m 5’ 6” and my current weight is 162, exactly 100 lbs down from my sleeve surgery, and a new low for me as an adult! I’ve been trying to work out more, and sticking to a clean healthy low carb diet.
I LOVE my post op results!!! Dr. Stacey Folk in Denver is my angel! I do eventually want to have my thighs done, but that will have to wait for now...
I currently wear a size 8/10 bottoms and S/M tops. I also plan on wearing a bikini in public when I go to Vegas in a couple weeks!!! [emoji50]
Anyway, I just wanted to check in And update you all. Hope everyone is well!

I had mini gastric bypass and lost over 100 lbs...needless to say I had extra skin to go. I researched a lot and found Dr. Galvez with BariatricPal MX. My surgery was on 1/29/18. I had a belt lipectomy with butterfly lift, breast lift with augmentation. I was suppose to have the BBL as well but there was no fat to transfer 😔.
As a nurse in the US I can assure you that the facility and medical staff are phenomenal. All the same protocols are followed and then some. The care I received was amazing and the doctors are so nice and down to earth. They help you with what is best for you figure and what they know is Doable. Not having the fat necessary for BBL I was sad and Dr. Galvez said he could get it from my thighs but it would make them look worse. I opted to leave them alone and not worry about BBL since I can’t see my butt anyway.

It's a valid concern! I ended up being self pay because I had only a 2 lb buffer to work with and decided it was too risky. I was drinking sweat tea every day in an effort to maintain, but felt awful. So I decided to pay cash, switched Dr's and said to heck with insurance. Much less stressful. I feel your pain, I wasn't cut out for that level of stress

You will read hundreds of positive reviews here about Dr Illan. Not sure if I've ever seen a bad one,. You have to go with who you are comfortable with. If you can live with the bad review that caused you to cancel with belite, great. I didn't use Dr Illan, but he would be one of my top choices based on reviews, and my interactions with their team. Good luck!

Our practice told us very specifically that all forms of nsaids reduce the protective stomach lining which can allow ulcers to form. Injectable, topical or pills carry the same risk, or so they say.

There are two bariatric Dr's in my practice. My surgeon told me I could resume nsaids without any problems (no ppi required) . The other surgeon is an advocate of never, ever, ever. The nurse and staff advocate the more strict recommendation, even saying my Dr is flat out wrong. So who do I believe? Sigh..

Then, ppi's come with their own risks (long term usage).

Reading up on ulcers from nsaids, and long term effects of ppi usage will scare the crap out of you.

It stinks that our choices are limited.

My surgeon has no problems with steroids, just nsaids. Some allow nsaids if you use a ppi like prilosec. But it's still risky. I'd probably take the steroids, and see if there is an alternative for the nsaid.

Bariatrix Florida. I paid $8899, but I think it's about $10500 now. Also Dr shillingford in FL, Dr Borland in Louisiana, Dr Umbach in Las Vegas are all under $11k I think. I used insurance for preop, but everything else except post op bloodwork was covered.
