  1. Awww Penni!! (( Hugs!!! )) Hang in there & do one thing for yourself today! Pat yourself on the back as you do it... get a massage or a manicure or choose an orange instead of a hamburger or something! Hug yourself & say to your image in the mirror that you love yourself! You know you're loved by us... be good to you & hurry home! :Banane56:
  2. I think once the dust settles & we get back to living, things will be fine... with or without changes. Yeah, we hate to have things change. Some will hate to see it stay the same. After all is said and done, once we know the rules, we'll learn to work within them. If we can't edit, perhaps an updated GFG stats page is sent to a moderator weekly & they do the edit? If it's just a "select all" "paste" function, it wouldn't take them too long. I know it may not be as easy as what we do now, but it will work... there are ways & we'll find them. For our Feb thread, I'm planning on just updating "inline" & then creating a new thread once a month. It's different, but it'll work. Bottom line... I haven't paid a penny for the wonderful use of LBT. I love the friendships I've made & the advice I've found & all the knowledge I've gained. I want to make life easier for the moderators & owner. Whatever they need to do... I'll find a way to live with it.
  3. Private Janet sheepishly checking in. Sorry to be AWOL, Sarge! Been out having the poor me's! (Been sick.) Back & reporting for duty!! Hup 2 3 4!
  4. Welcome DAA!! We're glad you're here! Jump in & join the fun! I can still edit my post (for 24 hours), so I'll throw your info into the list just above your post. :Banane56:
  5. I don't want to come down on any side of any fence, heh, but I would like to note that in both threads ("Is someone deleting large threads" & this one) that only about 5 voices are being heard. I know that the moderators & owner have to do what they decide is best for the majority of the board... but I hope they'll perhaps take a poll before deciding anything for good. We can always learn to live within a new ruleset, but change is painful! Oh, and on a side note, I love your new/old icon, StrawartS! :Banane56: Tres sexy!
  6. They've been changing some settings on the forum & right now we can't edit posts after 24 hours. So... I can't edit the front page! I'm thinking that maybe we should have a new Feb thread every month. That way the stats will be at most 4 weeks old, heh. I'll post updates throughout the thread & then update it totally once a month. Sound ok? Anyone have any better ideas? (I've been wracking my brain.) 7. LOL, only in my dreams! We'll be there tomorrow... coughing up a lung, I'm afraid. Hmmm, wonder if we should wear face masks! :Banane56:
  8. ** Crawls out of her hole. ** Hey guys! Sorry we've been MIA. Easter was... amazingly long! And then I got sick. Stupid flu. And I gave it to Mikey, poor thing. We're AWFUL patients! I've missed you guys! Let's see... news for us. We got our 2nd fills on Tues. Mikey now has 6 in his 9cc band. (Not sure why his is 9cc and not 10cc, but there ya go.) And he feels it!!!! Woohooo! I have 1.6 in mine... but it doesn't seem as "full" as my first one was. Oh well. I'm still learning to eat slowly, so I'm ok with not having more restriction. Oh, the nutritionist snagged me on the nachos, lol. She asked how long I was eating for. "An hour and a half, more or less." "WHAT!?!?!?! Ok, Janet, I need you to cut that back to 30 minutes, heh. If you're still hungry an hour later, then you can eat again, but for no more then 30 minutes!" **sigh* Yeah, you guessed it, that cuts my portions down a LOT, heh. Evidentally I was giving the food time to drop into the lower stomach by eating so long. Go me! And now to catch up with ya'll. (Sorry these are so old, lol, that'll teach me to disappear! Stacey: Heh, I'm glad you're addicted to the ice cream cones & not the Blasts! Michelle: I'm so with you on the head hungries! And the fighting myself to allow myself to eat less. Twisted! But we're going to win!! On your band... there's 2 possibilities. You could have the 10cm band, which holds 4cc OR the 10cc band. The 10cc band is the Vanguard. All told there's 4 different sizes, I think: * 9.75 cm (4cc capacity) * 10 cm (4cc capacity) * 11 cm (9cc capacity) * Vanguard (10cc) I believe the most used band is the 4cc, 10cm band. Some doctors use ONLY the Vanguard... so it really just depends. With 1.6, if you have any restriction, you probably have the 4cc band. At least I know Mikey & Tammy didn't feel that little in their big bands. Becky: Have you thought about having your metabolism checked? I just read about your growling stomach. It's possible that with all your working out that you're eating too little. It's also possible that you're not, heh, but you can't really know unless you get tested. I haven't had mine tested, but I want to! I'll do some research online & see if I can find locations to have it tested. Since you belong to a gym, it's possible that they'll do the testing for you. Pat: Wow, congrats on your fill AND the weight loss! 8 pounds? That's awesome!! My "full" feeling lasted about a week with my first fill, heh. I'm hoping it's longer with my 2nd. Julie: Awesome!! Someone else not eating chocolate! The more the merrier! There's strength in numbers! With the personal fitday, it saves a file with your profile. You can download the program itself multiple times (I downloaded it to both Mikey's & my PC), but if I want to see his stats, I have to get a copy of his profile... or go to his PC. If you travel a lot & like to access your info via the web, the PC version might not be for you. For me, it's perfect... I only do my food analyzing at my desk... always the same spot. DonnaB: Nice post! Heh (the one with all the quotes). You were RIGHT on the nail with the nachos! I appear to enjoy the numb feeling they bring. I'm fighting to really live life & not just exist from numb-to-numb. Stacey: Congrats on being chocolate free on Easter!! Way to be!! Michelle: It sounds like you may have a large band (10cc). Either that or your fill hasn't kicked in yet. I know for some it takes a few days. How are you feeling now? Any more restricted? Tammy: Congrats on restriction!!!!!! That's awesome news! And thanks for the prayers of clouds! We did SO much better then we did at Christmas! The little weight we've lost & all the exercise is paying off, woohoo!! We still couldn't walk on Monday, but we recovered WAY faster then in Dec. And I avoided chocolate like the plague! So no fish for me!! Weeeee!!! Nanster: I'm so glad you're feeling restriction now! Sounds like you're all set for some major life changing! Stacey: Thanks for the numbers from your doc! Ours isn't big on rules, so I've been having problems knowing exactly what we should be eating. Our nutritionist keeps pointing at a plate & saying, "Eat that." Pft! Michelle! Yay!!! Since I'm so late catching up, I'm getting your "no fill feeling" and "yes fill feeling" in the same post, heh. Glad to hear you're doing better! Diane: Wow, great results with no fill! How'd your doctor appointment go? Heh, my results are less then yours & I've had 2 fills. :Banane56: You rock!! Sherry: Congrats on the 6 pounds!!! Wooohoooo!!! Julie: You go with the exercise! Great job!! How's the 12 day challenge going? Can you still walk? It sounds like you're learning good eating habits... I'm feeling guilty there, lol. Stacey: How's your bladder infection doing? I hope you got some meds for it! I know what you mean about eating from feeling poorly. I've been eating my head off all week! Welcome Christi!!! We're glad you're here! We're having a DFW get together tomorrow, if you're in that area. If you're down Houston way, they're having a get together in May that Mikey & I are going to try to drive down for. Check out the Texas forum: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=64 Tammy: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!! on the 5 pounds! Wooohooo!!! Now get to moving that bod! Even just 2 min of walking up & down the hall. Start small & work up! Michelle: Wow, sounds like you're really learning some great stuff! How's the not drinking with meals going? I fight that one too. And congrats on fitday... and welcome to the club of fitday addicts! Stacey: LOL, I know this is wrong on many levels, but I have Mikey put the wrappers from new stuff on my office chair. So when I come in I have a stack of cans, boxes, paper, jars, you name it, lol. If I want to sit down comfortably & quit smelling weird smells, I have to put them into fitday, FAST! It seems to do the trick. At least once it's in it's in for good... and we do seem to do food in trends, thank goodness! On the side pain... I've had side & back pain with a bladder infection before. Has it gotten any better with the meds? I suppose it could be gall bladder? I'm not sure where that is, lol. Hope they find what's up! Pat: Wow. You spoke the words I've been thinking every meal. "I don't wanna stop eating!!!" I'm proud of you for stopping when you didn't want to! Hope I can learn from you! Stacey: OMG!! Are you ok? I didn't know Icees have carbonation! Evil!! Hope you're doing better today! Julie: Congrats on the clothes fitting better!! Woohooo!! Keep up the walking! Got pics of the spring concert? Sherry: You better to? Sounds like last night was hard on the Febsters! Hope you got through it without sliming or PBing!
  9. Ok, so to update... 12 so far, I think. :Banane56: At least I can give the restaurant a rough estimate! I'll most likely say 15-20, so if you didn't sign up but can come, please do! Weeee!!! It's tomorrow! List so far: 2 Janet & Mikey 2 Didi (Diane) 1 banded_for_life (Keri) 2 MyKdsDad (Randy & Joy) 2 Kim_8 1 divanita2006 (Anita) 2 DonnaB & Mike 12 total so far
  10. Awesome, and clever name, Anita! Heh, I assumed it was Nita! I like it! See you there!!
  11. TGIFriday's 1001 MacArthur Park Dr, Irving, TX 972-402-9487 Map Join us at Friday's for fun & friends! This is approximately 30 miles from anywhere in the metroplex -- as central as we could get it. If you can come, please post numbers (if you're bringing family / friends). I'll call Friday's on the morning of the 22nd with numbers. (It's just an estimate, so if you didn't RSVP but can come, get there! ) Thanks! List so far: 2 Janet & Mikey 2 Didi (Diane) 1 banded_for_life (Keri) 2 MyKdsDad (Randy & Joy) 1 Kim_8 1 divanita2006 (Anita) 9 total so far Edit: Sorry for deleting the other thread... I couldn't edit the subject line & didn't want to confuse folks, so I decided it was safer to delete it, even though we lost the RSVP messages. How dare Jack Astor's close on us! I'll send PMs to those that are signed up, just to be sure they know about the restaurant change.
  12. A week ago, I couldn't seem to eat without hurting. I was golf-balling almost every meal, at least once… sometimes two or three times. StrawartS posted this list to help folks deal with “first bite blues” (also called “first bite syndrome”, or “living with a tight fill”). I haven’t done the hot tea part yet… I’m not really tight, lol. But if I follow the rest of it, I do well. I’ve taken to actually watching a second hand… and this is what I found: My normal bites are 0 seconds apart. My 2nd bite is in as SOON as I swallow. My “slow” bites are 3-5 seconds apart. LOL!! Sad, but true. 30-60 seconds is FOREVER!!!! Dealing with first bite blues: Drink HOT tea before your first bite. Take a VERY small first bite. Chew to goo. Swallow. Wait 1 minute with your mouth EMPTY!! Drink more HOT tea to wash it down. Repeat steps 2-6 for the next few bites. Put your fork down for 30 seconds to 1 minute between ALL subsequent bites. Happy eating!! I've now gone a week without a food incident, so it seems to work! I get another fill tomorrow, so we'll soon know if I've really learned my lesson!
  13. Hi JucyC! :puke: If you want more personal responses, click here & then click on the "New Thread" button. That way folks will see your post! Glad you liked our fun! :puke: And welcome to LBT! If you went out to Easter lunch with your family & they got appetizers & meals & dessert & are STILL done before you've had your chicken breast & you have to get a "to go" box because they're tired of waiting for you & you stare at your chicken wishing you could just will it into your stomach, lol... you just might be a bandster! (Nah, that's not a run-on sentence! ) If you're at a restaurant & everyone's ordering drinks & you seriously can't figure out what to say that will get her to quit asking you for your drink order... you might be a bandster! :der: If your sister-in-law leans over & says, "Wow, you sure worked a lot during this meal, but you didn't eat ANYTHING!"... you just might be a bandster! (And oh how sweet those words were!)
  14. Wow Tammy! Congrats on the compliment from the doctor on your stomach size! Give yourself time on the menopause worry. Remember that you've JUST had surgery... and you're constantly going through a life change. We won't be "through" it until we're at goal for more then a year. That being said, good luck with your new restriction! And thanks for the clouds under our feet! We're gonna need 'em! (I LOVE the music, heh, so I dance too much!)
  15. Oh my goodness, lol, those are rocking! "Covet your neighbor's plate" Heh, you saw me eat with Mikey pre-band! :uwelcome: Not sure who was coveting more! If you worry about eating at your in-laws because they REALLY like dry chicken breasts... you might be a bandster. (On my way over to their house for lunch, lol.) If you drink apple cider (NOT sparkling) instead of champagne, you might be a bandster! If one drink gets you tipsy, you might be a bandster! (Or so we're hoping!) If you no longer dread the weight loss lecture from your doctor during every physical, you might be a bandster! If you're having to cut back on meds, you might be a bandster! If your blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, sleep apnea or swollen joints is getting under control or disappearing, you might be a bandster!
  16. I struggled with golf-balls, slimes & PBs after my first fill. I finally seem to have conquered it -- 3 days with no incidents! Weee!! For me, I use a baby food spoon / shrimp fork. TINY bites Chew to goo (every bite... every time) Put your utensil down & watch a clock AFTER you swallow 30-60 seconds with your mouth EMPTY... then take another bite The space between bites helps you to catch it the second it hurts, instead of being 2-3 bites too far. Now I stop at slight breastbone pressure & it doesn't get to a golf-ball. Heh, I'm really hoping that I've learned this lesson... and that it's not just that my restriction is less now, lol. I get another fill next week, so we'll see!
  17. You look awesome!!!!!! To post side-by-side pics: Get an account at http://www.photobucket.com (or another web album site) Upload your pics to your album Start a post on LBT Click on the image icon (little yellow pic of a mountain with a moon above it) Copy in the URL from the album page (photobucket's is a textbox that's titled URL.) Add a space or 2 & repeat for the 2nd pic
  18. If you order 2 things from Taco Bell, "just in case" you're still hungry, but then you can't even finish the first thing... you might be a bandster! If your dog and husband are gaining weight from eating your leftovers, lol, you might be a bandster! (No dog & Mikey's banded too... sooo much food left!)
  19. Pasta with sauce? Oh yeah Lasagna? Yep, cheese only ... and with meat Mac n cheese? Yep Grits? Nah, but I didn't eat them often pre-banding either. :uwelcome: Oatmeal? Haven't yet (not my norm) Cucumbers? Yes Bananas? OH YEAH Grilled cheese sandwich? Yep, love 'em Oysters as in fresh? Ewww! Sushi? Nope, I had "beef on stick" -- I hate fish, lol. Rice? Yes Shrimp as in cocktail? Yep (shrimp <> fish, lol) Celery? Only in Soup... it's REALLY hard to chew to goo French fries? Yes (*blush*) Fake crab meat? Lobster bites from Long John Silvers count? Corn on the cob? Haven't tried this one... corn is supposed to be a no-no (too much Fiber / skin) Chili with Beans? OH YEAH Enchilada? Yep Have you ever slipped up and had champagne? What happened? What could happen? I'm not a champagne drinker, but I had "flat" diet coke that wasn't all that flat. I had heart burn from it & burped a TON. Technically it could stretch the pouch, or so I've been told. My doc wasn't too worried about it, he just asked that we let it go flat first. But the new coke doesn't seem to GO flat! I cracked the 3 liter & waited a week, lol. Still had some fizz. Weird. I currently have 1.2 cc in a 4cc band. With more restriction I may lose some foods... but so far anything goes, as long as I chew it well & wait 30-60 seconds between bites.
  20. JanetC replied to paula's topic in The Lounge
I hadn't thought of it... until we were talking about trying out for "The Biggest Loser". Suddenly money pops to the forefront! (We didn't try out, we got banded instead, lol.) I'm guessing they get some sort of stipend. AI "owns" the top 25 for 2 years or some such, don't they? Tours, etc. They'd better pay 'em something! I did notice that Kellie behaved better this week, heh. Wonder if it's 'cuz Chris's wife was in the audience!
  21. Hi Sherry! I like your new pic! Great smile! Congrats on your first fill! Good luck with your mushie Easter! :uwelcome: I find fitday PC better then the web version. It takes a little getting used to, but I love it, heh. Some of us might be a weeeeee bit addicted to it. For some other options, try: http://www.myfooddiary.com/ http://www.nutritiondata.com/index.html I saw some others recommending them... I haven't tried 'em though, I'm already addicted enough to fitday! Wow, Nanster, sounds like that ol' restriction kicked in! Be sure & slow down... give yourself a good 30-60 seconds with your mouth EMPTY before you put another bite in. (That way it's 2-3 minutes between swallows, depending on how much chewing you do.) I think the big no-no for Slim Fast is that you don't get a good Protein bang for your carb buck. In other words, they have too much extra stuff in it. Protein drinks for "weight lifters" are better. Of course they're more expensive... so it's a toss up. If you do Slim Fast, be sure you're doing the low carb version! It sounds like you've got a good Easter plan going. In my opinion, lol, a planned cheat is not a cheat! Enjoy it for me! I'll be gritting my teeth & wiring my mouth shut for Tammy! Thanks for the thoughts, Michele! And you REALLY hit it on the head. I'm PMSing & Mexican is a trigger food. Plus, I've found that nachos go down REALLY easily. (I SOOO did NOT need to know that!) I was beyond angry on Wed... and used the nachos to cheer me up, lol. Sad. We're wicked busy this week (silly Easter program), so eating is really suffering. We've been having dinner at 9 pm, so I'm climbing the walls by then. LOL with Donna! I trusted you to fulfill the fitday look-up duties. I do believe you MIGHT be more addicted then I am! Michele -- there's a "Quote" button beneath every person's post... I THINK that's the way you quote them, though I've never done it, lol. Mine are always random... and really long. I woke up with my stomach growling... which doesn't bode well for the day! I wish my monthly would just GET HERE already & quit putting me through this!! Thank goodness we get another fill Tuesday! Cannot wait!
  22. That Zetacaps thing sounds wicked cool! I really, really, really hope it works for you! I guess the trick is to make yourself take it, huh. **sigh** so much of this is all mental, at least for me! I mean, I struggle with my anger daily... I paid to not be as hungry, and then I'm angry that I can't eat as much as I want? What's up with that! Anyway, this accountability thing worked last night!! I made myself get up & go get our vitamins, lol. I was going over my check list & realized I hadn't taken them. Oops! Better at midnight then never! :uwelcome: 14-APR-2006 Vitamins — check (Yaaay!!!) Water — check -- gotta watch it, it's dropping lower again Protein — check Exercise — omg check! (27 min of DDR!!! Plus 2 hours of standing choir practice.) Food journal — check Good choices — NO CHECK!!! (Today's bad choice, lol, Wendy's SW Taco Salad. But it's a salad, so it must be good, right?) Calorie difference 1000+ — *sigh* (753... at least it's in the right direction!) Daily affirmations 3 times — CHECK!!! (First time ever, I think, lol.)
  23. Heh, so I guess us banded gentry shouldn't do it, eh? :uwelcome: I'm glad you found something that's working!! Keep us updated with it! If I'm ever de-banded, I'm following in your footsteps! 25. Oh my goodness, that's the best NSV!!! Enjoy some clothes for me! :uwelcome:
