Hey everyone so 5 days out of surgery. I am becoming stronger each day but I find myself out of breath sometimes and I have a bruise on my left side ribcage that's swollen and blue. That's the only pain I have right now and my belly button (which is where they pulled out my tummy). Anyone else have bruises and trouble breathing? I will contact my doctor on Monday about it. I'm seeing him on Friday to remove the staples as well.

Thank you guys, he did leave home and I'm moving soon into a new apartment, I kind of have been building myself up to do this. My back is hurting really bad but I have real big bruise on left arm, I took photos because he is threatening to take my child because I'm not "healthy". He's the reason for mental anguish! Years of enabling and never encouraging me to get healthy. We are done. I refuse to be another number.
I will take take some time away from social sites, but thank you all for being kind throughout these past three months. We are strangers but I feel like I know you all,
    with love,
    V

It will pass. You're doing great. Focus on walking and fluids. Once it starts getting better it gets better fast and you're really close to that point. Are you home now?

It sounds like you are doing really well. Just listen to your body and rest when you need to. Sip every few minutes all day long and try different temperature liquids to see what works best for you.
    Everyday gets better 😊

hey, i had my surgery June 1st and doing great. Take your pain meds and get plenty of rest, sip fluids all day. I bought unsweetened tea and added the crystal light pure peach tea to it and loved it. Wasn't able to do regular crystal light so i had to get trivia and switch to the pure, the other sweeter was making me sick. Good luck and keep us posted!!!

I'm not that far out yet, but my entire experience has been a success. Starting just at the week of surgery, I lost 9 pounds on the clear liquid diet and my date was bumped up from the 26th to the 24th. I had the nicest nurses and surgery went very smoothly. I woke up with discomfort but no pain and no drain or anything like that. Just 6 incisions glued shut. I was proactive in drinking Water and getting out of bed so got my catheter out quickly and discharged a day early. I wasn't passing gas except for burping but that was the only issue that made it more uncomfortable. I never woke up "regretting life" like so many because I was prepared mentally for this and expecting a hard first month.
Day 3 post op which was the first day home was the worst. I was having withdrawals of being put under so had major bloating and Migraines. I decided to get off of the liquid pain meds asap and that helped. Along with walking.
I gained 18+ pounds from all of the surgery fluids and swelling (finally weighed myself on day 4 post op) and decided to slowly take a walk around the block each day to help. I lost 11 of the 18 pounds in the last 48 hours due to that and sipping water all day.
It's been tight and sometimes downright uncomfortable, but I've gotten down 60-90 ounces of water each day plus 50-68 grams of Protein (powder mixed with water).
I lost 57 pounds in 3 months preop and at least 11 since surgery 6 days ago.
I did go through a 2 week stall preop and am expecting another stall in a few weeks. I know the reasons behind stalls and how to break them. I keep educated and calm because I have found that the "freak out" moments come from when you expect more than you should.
I've followed every plan given to me and have been successful. I don't expect to fail now because I do expect to have speed bumps that will slow me down. So I've planned how to get over them.
Good luck on your surgery. Take deep breathes and relax after. Enjoy the opportunity of a new life.

I am 5 days out from my surgery, and beforehand, I was on that same emotional rollercoaster. But I can tell you, the surgery is actually the easy part. I felt the pre-op liquid diet was the worst so far. After surgery, it is important to concentrate on getting in your liquids and walk, walk, walk. I was given a pain reliever on schedule during my short hospital stay even though I never asked for it. After the hospital, I have not needed anything for pain. My only issue was the gas pains. The thing that helps the most with that is to walk. My only other issue was drinking too much broth and not enough Water the 2 days after surgery. The high salt intake caused me to swell. But that was my fault for not drinking enough water and too much broth. It is normal to be nervous about the unknown. But I will tell you, for me, the surgery and post op has been a breeze compared to the pre-op. Hope this helps. Please contact me with any questions. You've made it this far. You've got this!

Today I Celebrate my 1 year anniversary of my sleeve surgery!
It's amazing how much has changed in a year! I've lost 118lbs. I've gone from a tight size 28 jean to a loose 18, and a 4X shirt to an XL. I recently fit in an airplane seat comfortably and didn't need a seat belt extender. I love clothes shopping now, can pound out an hour on the elliptical with ease, and can paint my own toenails AND breathe at the same time! =)
I still have about 60 lbs to go, but I have no doubts that I will get there. I feel amazing already, and it's only going to keep getting better from here.

It's normal to be scared. But don't let the last minute fear get in the way of something you have been working toward for months (or years).

Medical technology is a wonderful thing. You will wake up and have no memory of the surgery. It's really a miracle. Think positively and you'll be fine.

First of all at 5'4 and 165 you won't be skinny or anything close to it. Everyone is so damn fat in America, people don't even know what legit skinny even looks like.
Big boned is a myth, yeah some people might have slightly larger frames but big bones is BS. My bones are 3x denser than the average woman my age and they still barely weigh anything, and they look TINY on a DEXA scan. they are covered in fat and muscle. Big bone is just lie people tell themselves and others to justify obesity.
Just because the weight is harder to lose or slower coming off doesn't mean you aren't meant to lose it or you can't lose it. You are barely one year out from surgery. It will probably take you another 6 months or so to lose the rest if you keep eating right.
People need to think about their general health and wellness. The way insurance is going right now, those few extra pounds can cost you a lot in insurance premiums in the future. Everyone should be striving to get to a normal BMI at this point.
And just because you are smaller doesn't mean you won't have curves. I have lost an entire grown man in weight and I still have enough titties for 3 broads and I have hips, thighs and a butt. Slim thick is really a thing.
People need to stop kidding themselves. You will never be this young ever again in life. Go for your goal, go for it hard. It is never going to be this easy to lose weight ever again.

Walking down the street as usual with my earphones on ( u know, the fat blockers .. to fake like u didnt hear the fat commentaries ). Instead i walk past a really cute guy, much younger than me and i hear, hey beautiful. Of course, its not to me, my fat brain says. So i casually look over my shoulder to see who he's talking to.... wait a minute, holy crap, there's nobody behind me, wth, is he talking to me, huh??? So he must've seen the dumbfounded look on my face and says... you look beautiful in that dress. Awww, I smile, say thank u, wave and move on. Lol. HOLY CRAP, i just got a hey beautiful.
.... she gets home, lol, shakes booty.

    GASTRIC SLEEVE.. U ROCK.
Hope you all have a great "hey beautiful" weekend.

I understand everything that you're going through. I've struggled with my weight all my life. I'm turning 30 this year and I told myself I need to make a change before I turn 30. So I'm doing it. People don't understand what we go through because they haven't been in our position. My dad doesn't agree with my surgery but he's still somewhat supportive bc he knows it's what I want. He thinks I could just lose it on my own without it but that's easier said than done. I know your struggle and I'm here for you if you need someone to talk to. Fortunately the weight loss community is an excellent support system when you don't have anyone else to turn to.
