FatPharm reacted to ssflbelle in What was the first food you ate when allowed soft foods?
At the 3rd week I was allowed to eat 1 egg a day and all the full liquids I had drunk the 1st 2 weeks. So my first egg was scrambled. I had 1 poached egg or boiled egg or scrambled egg a day for the whole third week. After that week I didn't eat or even want to look at an egg for about a month.

I'm still PreOp but I can understand your dislike for the curds in most brands. If you have Knudsens brand the small curd is so small I never noticed the curds. I always liked the yellow package (probably 4%). Moved to Minnesota 20 years ago, they don't carry it. I finally broke down last month and tried the Daisy 4% the curds aren't as small, but it is good tasting cottage cheese. I like it with salt and pepper.

I'm in Canada and the brands are different, but definitely try a few types. There is only one brand I like, the rest turn my stomach and seem to have a weird taste.
(go for full fat! So much tastier!)

Me too. Will probably have them without the cheese. Already bought 3 cans of the Old el Paso fat free ones. They get good reviews online.

FatPharm got a reaction from Melena68 in Feeling fullness in my back?
I had 2 ounces (little medicine cups) of watered down refried Beans today, which are part of my Stage 2 diet. My plan doesn't say to Water them down, but they were pretty thick, so it seemed like a good idea. I made sure to take small amounts and even chewed up any tiny bean pieces. I noticed a heavy feeling in my back rather than in my sleeve. Is this normal? I am 13 days out.

I had buyer's remorse BADLY while I was still in the hospital. I would see people eating food or drinking iced coffee, etc. and was thinking, "What have I done?" I was silently bargaining to change places in life with ANYONE who I came across, such as hospital workers, etc. Rather comical. I haven't really been regretful since I got home and started seeing results and feeling more normal, less gas pain, not claustrophobic hooked up to IVs and monitors, etc. I still have soreness in my belly button incision and the large incision where they pulled out the stomach remnant.

I was cleared by my surgeon's aftercare team to perform 'real' exercise (a.k.a. moderate to vigorous intensity) at six weeks out.
However, I did not resume exercise until approximately three months out. I started with a walk/jog routine. Less than two years later I run an average of 30 miles per week.

I use the full fat version of everything as I eat a low carb/high protein/high healthy fat diet (and have since 6 months pre-op), but Daisy also has a reduced fat product. There is a strawberry version of the preserves with no seeds (I think they call it strawberry jam). I have never had issues with the seeds (I don't even notice them to be honest). I introduced the preserves when I was able to introduce cottage cheese to my diet (which I believe, on my plan, was at 3 weeks post-op).

I eat Daisy brand. Try it with the preserves. You still get the curd effect, but it is quite good. (And 13 grams of Protein in 4 ounces!) And if strawberry isn't your thing, Smuckers has a variety of sugar free flavors.

And a tip on the cottage cheese -- mix 4 oz of cottage cheese with 1 tablespoon of sugar-free strawberry preserves. It is amazing. I have it twice a day -- first thing in the morning and last thing at night. It accounts for 12 of my 20 carbs per day. That's how much I like it!

Hot sauce is no calories, so go crazy. Just make sure you are taking a PPI and antacid.
I don't eat Salsa, doesn't interest me, can't help you there.

An entire brand of calorie free Condiments https://www.waldenfarms.com/
They are all just flavoring, xanthum gum and Water.

FatPharm reacted to blizair09 in 2 weeks out and i cannot drink enough water, why?????
Meeting your Protein and Water goals is a full time job in the first few weeks post-op. You have to do whatever you have to do to meet them. That is why I took 6 weeks off of work after surgery. Physically, I needed to recover, but I also had to get my head in the game post-op and understand how it was different from life pre-op if I wanted to be successful long-term.
I suggest that you keep sipping. Set a timer to remind you to meet certain milestones every 15 minutes. (If you drink 4 oz every 15 minutes, that's 16 oz in an hour and 64 oz in 4 hours. You are up a lot more than 4 hours, so you could even start at 1 oz or 2 oz every 15 minutes and let it take you 8 or 12 hours total.)
Even at 7.5 months out, I eat 8 meals about 2 hours apart and do the water drinking in between (allowing for the 30 minutes before and after eating). It takes me 12-14 hours to do this each day (even while I am working). It's a commitment, yes, but it is what it takes to be successful.
    Good luck!

Try setting a timer on your phone. Also, try changing temperatures. Some days I found room temp Water was better than cold, other days it was the other way around. The lightheadedness could be from dehydration. please be careful.

Thank you, this is soooooo true.
Look, if you want to try new food, by all means go for it, but forcing yourself to eat things you do not like isn't a recipe for long-term success.
