romafiori reacted to orionburn in 5 days post-op with a fever
I had some complications from my surgery and ran a fever for nearly two weeks. Mine did the same and hovered just over 100 degrees. The two things my doc warned about were heart rate or temperature over 100. It can be signs of a potential leak or infection, but sometimes our bodies are just working overtime trying to heal. Eventually the elevated temperature dropped back to normal and that was that. It's something to continue to monitor but try not to fret about it. I know that's easier said than done!
Drink, walk, and rest. Soon enough you'll be back to normal.

It boils down to how you react to surgery. For me my stomach was swollen for several days so getting fluids in was an absolute chore. Now I feel like I'm drinking normally again although I do control how much I drink at a time. Fluids pass through the stomach fairly fast and they typically don't cause any sort of restriction/full feeling. You'll see that with "liquids at room temperature" foods like yogurts. 5 oz of Greek yogurt is easy to get down in just a few minutes, but if I tried that with a dense Protein I'd feel miserable for hours. You'll learn which foods you really have to pace yourself with.

Don't panic! Just make sure you get a call back from the doctor on call. If you're fever goes up, go back to the hospital.

They just called and said to keep an eye on it. If it gets over 101 or if I start experiencing any pain, to call back.

There are always going to be side effects and risks with any surgery. They can't go listing every single possible thing that might happen. 6 days out is a bit early to be in any sort of "regular routine." It takes time to heal from this.
I had an elevated heart rate and minor fever the first two weeks, but I had some complications a few days after surgery. Even when I was back home the feverish feeling and higher heart rate continued. Our doc had us monitor our heart rate and temperature. If either one was over 100 that was when he wanted a phone call so the office was at least aware because it can be a possible sign of infection - possible - not a guarantee that it is. After a few days things leveled out for me and I was back to normal.

I was sleeved on Thursday, 5/4. I came home the next day. I was nervous going in, but it feels really good on the other side. I woke up from the surgery in some discomfort, but once that was managed, it has been pretty smooth sailing. No hunger, no cravings. I cannot even express how freeing that is.

Good luck May sleevers! Can't wait to read about your progress!

So true!!! I was in costco yesterday and they were baking brownies. They smelled delicious. I could have smelled them all day. But I feel so full all the time - if someone would have handed one to me, I would have dropped it and run! That is a huge change for sure.

I was just telling my husband how amazing it was. I'm getting like 500-600 calories and I'm not hungry. Before surgery I was like "those people are f*cking crazy if they think I can survive 500 calories a day!" They really weren't kidding about hunger disappearing. I am hit now and then with head hunger though. Thought I'd start crying when I could smell my husband cooking chicken parm for the family. I just had to relax and let it sink in that even if I COULD eat it, I probably wouldn't be able to since my tummy doesn't like anything.

It's so OK to be nervous, this is life changing. My 2nd journey started 4/3 with my pre-op visit - surgery was 5/1. Down 24 lbs since 4/3.
Remember to stay positive, be prepared, and know that you got this. You can do this, and you can change your life.

First of all at 5'4 and 165 you won't be skinny or anything close to it. Everyone is so damn fat in America, people don't even know what legit skinny even looks like.
Big boned is a myth, yeah some people might have slightly larger frames but big bones is BS. My bones are 3x denser than the average woman my age and they still barely weigh anything, and they look TINY on a DEXA scan. they are covered in fat and muscle. Big bone is just lie people tell themselves and others to justify obesity.
Just because the weight is harder to lose or slower coming off doesn't mean you aren't meant to lose it or you can't lose it. You are barely one year out from surgery. It will probably take you another 6 months or so to lose the rest if you keep eating right.
People need to think about their general health and wellness. The way insurance is going right now, those few extra pounds can cost you a lot in insurance premiums in the future. Everyone should be striving to get to a normal BMI at this point.
And just because you are smaller doesn't mean you won't have curves. I have lost an entire grown man in weight and I still have enough titties for 3 broads and I have hips, thighs and a butt. Slim thick is really a thing.
People need to stop kidding themselves. You will never be this young ever again in life. Go for your goal, go for it hard. It is never going to be this easy to lose weight ever again.

I just wanted to add one thing to this fear thread, in case it is helpful. I was so worried about how my new tiny stomach would feel and that I would experience regret and sadness that I couldn't eat more. I am only a few days out from surgery, so I'm sure there will be ups and downs, but so far, I am in love with how my tiny stomach feels. I am not hungry. I crave nothing. Instead of feeling constricting, it feels like freedom.

Anyway, I wanted to share that positive thought in case it helps with your fears going in.

I hope I feel as good as you. I'm not afraid of missing food, that's what got me to this point in the first place! I'm just worried about complications. I'm pretty healthy (arthritis and high bp are about it) so I'm hoping everything goes well.

Nope, no problems! I was uncomfortable when I woke up and my stomach area felt tight and a little painful, but they gave me pain meds and I slept. Today, I feel much better.

Good luck in June - you've got this!
