I guess losing weight wasn't too important for you when you were told too, huh? You just had to keep on eating until you were so fat you needed surgery. If only you listened. Tsk tsk.

How could you, in good conscience, say that to someone? Because that's exactly what you said. I have no idea what you're doing in an addiction forum if you are more interested in shaming than support.

I make my own refried beans- a favorite of mine since long before surgery. I put them on a carb balance tortilla that has I think 3-4g Protein, as well as fat free sour cream, and cheese. Delicious, lots of protein. Good bang for your buck.

I am beyond ecstatic. I am now below 300 pounds! I started at 540 pounds on October 29, 2015 when I started this whole journey. I had surgery on May 29, 2016 at 480 pounds and Now, 10 1/2 months later I weigh 297.8! I have not had a 2 in the front of my weight in FOREVER. I only have 98 pounds to go until I hit my goal! (Which may change, I'm more going for a clothing size goal now more than a number goal )

I used to have to be on oxygen all the time because I was so fat I could not breathe properly. Now I can walk for over an hour with no break and not be out of breath! I am so extremely happy with my progress!

I used to HATE getting my picture taken, it was the WORST. Now I love getting in front of the camera, I ASK for pictures to be taken! This is the craziest thing for me. I feel pretty for the first time in a very very long time.

I started out at a size 6x (36-38) and now wear a an 18/20 on top and 22 on bottom. I even wear leggings now!

I have a large hanging skin on my stomach which I am having removed on June 5th! I will need a revision surgery when I get to goal but I am very excited for the surgery and the relief it will give me.

Here are some before and after pics for you guys!

Yes, the tubular sleeved stomach can stretch. Yes, the stomach pouch of a gastric bypass patient can stretch. Stomachs are made up of smooth muscle, which is capable of stretching.
My sleeve definitely has a greater capacity than it did during those first few post-op months. Plainly speaking, my sleeve can accommodate more food now. However, anyone who expects tight stomach restriction by itself to prevent overeating may be engaging in unrealistic thinking.
At this point, the quality of food I place into my mouth is more important than the size of my sleeve. A person with a thumb-sized sleeve or golf ball-sized bypass pouch can and will regain all his/her weight if too many slider foods (e.g., chips, Cookies, crackers, pretzels, ice cream, popcorn, donuts, mashed potatoes) are eaten.
Slider foods do not produce a feeling of fullness or satiety. Therefore, a person who is determined to eat around the pouch or sleeve can accomplish his/her mission by overeating sliders. My personal saying is, "The road to weight regain is paved with Lays, Doritos, Ruffles, Ben & Jerry's, Fritos, Oreos, Breyers, and Chips Ahoy."
    It is all about choices.

Your question DOES have 2 answers depending on how a person reads it. Let me explain both.
To provide a few examples of the ability for a stomach to stretch out (for the 'yes' answer to your question):
My PCP was the one to refer me for bariatric surgery and at the end of the meeting, she said "this has to be a life change. It won't do anything if you don't change the way you eat. I had an officer manager who I referred the surgery for and she ended up using the surgery as an excuse to only eat mashed potatoes with extra gravy because she said it was all she could stomach. She ate right through her surgery and ended up gaining more weight instead of losing any. "That was her word of warning.
I believe we have all heard of our stomachs expanding in capacity. Most dietitians will say that you FEEL hunger more while your stomach is getting back to normal size when you first start a diet. They call it shrinking your stomach.
The show 'my 600 pound life' will explain how their surgery patients have stomachs the size of footballs because they've been stretched so much from over eating.
Surgery doesn't change the elasticity of your stomach. It just changes the size. Keep it packed full and it will stretch. Basic anatomy. Unfortunately we patients wish so hard to believe that surgery will make it impossible to overeat, we will try to convince ourselves in any way that our stomachs are not capable of stretching. There is more proof of organ elasticity than there is of inelasticity. If we don't change our habits, neither will our organs.
However, to answer 'no' to the other form of your question, our stomach will not NATURALLY stretch out without cause. It's like an elastic hair tie. It won't change shape unless you force it to. If you continue to stretch it out, it will eventually stay that way.
So yes and no. It does stretch when stretched and it will not do this on its own.

I'm a bit different to some on here - my general approach is to watch my calorie intake (I try to keep it below 1000 most days, or up to 1200 one or two days a week). Within that limit, as long as I am thinking about what I eat, I allow myself anything.
That includes bread - not just a bite, and quite regularly. It includes potatoes (though even though I used to love potatoes, they have less appeal for me now), chocolate, crisps, popcorn etc - as long as I stay within my daily calories. This means that if I make bad choices - loading up on empty calories - then I will be hungry later on. I avoid that - but I don't have any set rules.
My biggest ambition with this is to be able to be disciplined with the food I love. For me, cutting something out completely isn't sustainable - I know that I will fall off that wagon. Stepping off a wagon in a controlled way always hurts less than falling off it at 100mph.

Hi- I had mine on 1/11 and also recovered quickly and smoothly. I was surprised by how hungry I felt; it seems like a key piece of info I wasn't informed of or anticipating. I heard endless stories of, "oh I couldn't imagine eating two bites of Jello, I had no appetite!" This was not my experience. Here's the good news: it goes away. As you're able to introduce actual food, you will finally feel satisfied. Rather, I did, I don't want to assume. During the early liquid stages I found the Campbell's healthy Tomato Soup mixed with skim milk was savory and had a thickness I found filling. Good luck to you- this stage is temporary!

So a little retail therapy was the perfect cheer-up. I've been buying from thrift stores and consignment shops as I cycle thru sizes, but decided on a splurge of something new. Came home with size 10 pants and Med top. OMG!!! I was a 12-14 even in high school.... back in the stone age. Size 10 y'all. I can't believe it! Yep, I'll wear a wig, a hat, whatever... smile on my face again. :-)

I began losing hair like take this at five months. I bought a great wig when I realized I needed it, and got plenty of compliments. I wore a hat at times at the beach, or boating. After almost two years it is now healthy. Some people tell you what to do. Phooey! I did it all. Good luck!
